View Full Version : Will WC trade for a high-profile KPP?

There seems to be a growing whisper about WC trading to secure either Fevola or Tarrant at season's end.
I think either would be completely unlikely. We'd have to give up way too much to get either of these guys.
Would Kerr and a 1st rounder satisfy these clubs?
Intriguing but unlikely.

Kerr and a 1st rounder would be too much.
Guys like Fev and Tarrant, and last year Ottens and Thompson, are often mistaken as world beaters but their output is often questionable.
Fevola is capable of the sublime and the ridiculous, Tarrant has barely fired a shot since 2003 with injury and form problems.
The club might go for it but I'd hope they choose wisely.
Either way it would be a 'gee I hope that big trade doesn't fall flat on it's face.' if something happened.

maybe, but it totally depends on the player we'd get obviously.

Kerr and a 3rd Round pick perhaps. I don't really think we need to trade for one.
id be very cautious about trying to trade for fev or tarrant. they are both similar, fantastic on their day, but overall, they suffer from form and injury troubles.
plus, they are both rated by their club as the best FF in the league, and therefore will ask for the world. realistically, collingwood are going to say "if the trade doesent involve judd then go home". theres no way we are going to get away with trading our 4th best midfielder and a low pick for a "bona fide" star KPP forward (even if that star is inconsistent).
personally, i think a kerr/hansen or kerr/seaby deal is worthwhile for collingwood or carlton. they are all young, quality players and should turn into champs in the next few years. they are worth an inconsistant but brilliant FF in his prime. they are also realistic enough for them to actually consider. consider then turn down and return to saying sentences with the word "judd" in them
never happen. we need to build our own FF out of doogs/smith/embley/staker/gaspar whoever. we are two positions away from having a premiership quality side, IMO. and if we can solve the CHB and FF questions we are in real contention.

if one of fev/tarrant want to come then i would trade for them. both have their pro's and cons but i think would favour fev. 2 first round picks would suffice.

As I live in melbourne and don't get to see much of the WAFL, is it worth waiting to see wat Brad Smith can do or do you think we have trade a player/s and or draft picks to get an established KFF

I would not trade any of our best 22 we have had a good run with injuries to date it will be tested if we get a few injuries. Our squad hasn't change much over the last 2years and we have finished 7-8,this shows at this stage we can't trade to much specially in the midfield, some of our fringe players may get a gig at some clubs plus draft picks would be the way I would go . Hansen would be a stupid trade as he will be a great CHF in a year or two injury free.

maybe, but it totally depends on the player we'd get obviously.I've mentioned Fevola and Tarrant. What would you part with to get either of those two?
Kerr and a 1st rounder would be fair. Or trade Kerr elsewhere for another 1st-rounder and just send two picks for the FF.
I would trade Kerr and whatever draft pick for Tarrant immediately. Tarrant would lick his lips at the prospect of receiving the ball lace out on his chest 15 times a game from the midfield.
Unlucky with injuries yes, but his good is very good.
tarrent gets home sick in victoria. leave him there.

Kerr goes and Judd could follow. They are the very best of mates!

Kerr & a 1st Rounder??? Geez
Maybe (big maybe) for Barry Hall when he left the Saints
But for Tarrant or Fev... I'd be putting them through a boot camp, Psychoanalysis and Woosha's Evil Stare (the Truth Serum) to determine whether they have a Ticker to play to their potential.
Very, very risky... we could win 2 -3 premierships with either in, or the whole team could go down the gurglar.

Forgetting whatever happens this season, i'd prefer Suma spending the preseason turning the Lynch Pin, The Big Q in to a genuine full forward rather than trade anyone to get either of those two overrated players.

Yeah I think Tarrant is the most overrated player in the comp, but not Fevola, he is class, he just needs a new mentor to guide him in a better direction, like Worsfold whom he has worked with before.

Would take Fevola in a heart beat.
I'm still not convinced Tarrant would be worth bringing over here.
Were 8-1 and on top of the ladder. Have unearthed a pretty good CHF in Hansen and our midfield wins us most games without the lack of a key forward so remind me again why we are considering trading for Tarrant or Fev??
I think we have to put faith in our team right now and not worry about trading.

I would not want Fevola or Tarrant. They are both overrated and too inconsistent. Anyway they would want to much for them and it's not worth it. We have a good side at the moment and we are on top at the moment so let's see what happens at the end of the season. We have many players that could fill the position eg. Gaspar, McDougall, Smith, Staker etc. Smith hasn't even played a game yet and the other's are still young so we should try and develop them. I am astonished you guys would trade Kerr and Hansen. Kerr is a valuable part of our midfield and also still young. If one of our midfileders get's injured and Cousins is getting older so we need Kerr. Hansen has been great for us. He also is young and has filled the position of CHF well. Why waste Kerr and a draft pick for some rubbish from Victoria. Let's have faith in our own guys and the coaching panel to achieve greatness. Let's trust them. They have still a lot of time to develop. No Fevola and Tarrant! Stay home!
Overheard a very interesting conversation between some current and past WCE Board members that a certain KPP at Freo is very high on the WCE get list.

Unfortunately the eagles are stingy when it comes to trading, while Freo got burnt so many times they won't want to give anyone up cheaply.

Polak is the only guy we'd go after. He'd be handy at CHB, but the Dockers would take us for a ride in return.

I don't think the should. We've still got McDougall to come back in this year, and he showed something last year. Then Smith will be ready to play next year.
Woosha seems willing to back our guys and I think with guys like Staker, Graham, Seaby, Lynch and Hansen with plenty of room to improve we're going to be okay for the next few years.
Polak is even more useless than Staker. Don't want him.
But a much better prospect than McDud!!
THe one player i think that would suit our team to perfection and make us damn near impossible to beat would be Chad Cornes, my god i love the way he plays footy. Unfortunatly there is no way in hell we will ever even come close to getting him :(
