Rutten's weakness against quick-leading forwards was unfortunately exposed in this game. He would have been better suited to Whitnall.

OK...afl.com.au put Rutten in Adelaide's best players...wtf?

His stats certainly don't suggest best player material, if they're basing it on that, and Fevola gave him a bath...what are they talking about?

5. Goodwin - Standout for BOG. Got plenty of it and ran the lines well. Usage of the ball was generally good too. Will give our B&F a big shake this year.

4. Shirley - really like the way he won the hard ball today. The best of the in close mid-fielders.

3. Ricciuto - thank god we have the skipper. Won some hard balls from the centre when it was really needed.

2. Bock - stepping up beautifully at CHB and capped it off with 2 good goals.

1. Mattner - one of the successes of the season. Wins the hard ball, takes the opposition on and uses the ball well.

Best Team Man

3. Hudson - best ruckman on the ground by the proverbial mile and always gives 100%

2. Bassett - worked hard to be the twine that held the backlines together, always helping out fellow defenders.

1. Doughty - certainly showing a lot more courage these days and fully committed today. Unlucky to miss the best players.

Player of the Year
5. Goodwin - Continued his great form with another outstanding performance. Ran, ran and ran and used the ball beautifully compared to many others.
4. Shirley - Was excellent in the clearences, got the hard ball and fed it out super well. Is having a great season so far.
3. Riccuito - Not a super game but a great first quarter. When we needed his attack on the ball he was our saviour as always.
2. Bock - Once again had a great game. Is playing really well with his run off half back, neat disposal and his accountability. Nice goals too.
1. Torney - Awesome in the backlinep patchy early but ran and carried the ball with rocket boots.

Serious apologies to Mattner, Doughty, Bassett and Hudson.

Best Team Man
3. Hudson - Once again dominated the ruck and game 100.1%
2. Bassett - Courage personified and was always there to help his teamates.
1. Doughty - Had to put him somewhere. Showed some much improved courage and was fantastic as the link-man.

Rookie of the Year
Abstain - Rutten was well beaten today.

Bock is too old for this. To see a list of elligible rookies go to the POTY progressive votes thread. Jericho and Rutten were our only two rookies in today's game and not one is yet to get a vote today...rightly so. Not a good day for Rutten and Jericho had limited game time.

5 Bock - terrific game in defence and kicked two goals. Never thought he had it in him.

4 Shirely - very good at the hard stuff. Nice goal too.

3 Goodwin - broke the lines won the ball and he didn't make as many mistakes as others

2 Welsh - made the differencei n the last quarter after a quiet day

1 Torney - been terrifc all year

unlucky Burton Mattner Doughty Skipworth (except for one super weak effort on our half forward line for which he was dragged)

5) Bobby Shirley - tough in the clinches, distributes well to team mates and is a good finisher. Has played well all year and has definitely taken the next step.

4) Jason Torney - Mr consistency was never in trouble all day and is always there to mop up and help out.

3) Simon Goodwin - playing as well as ever. Most reliable kick into 50. Just a fine player.

2) Mark Ricciuto - probably picked up another vote or two from the umps. Don't be surprised if he goes close to another Charlie this year.

1) Nathan Bock - never rated this guy. Still don't! However, he has played two very good games in a row. A few more and I'll have to reassess!!

I thought that all the way through the game that Rutten would have been much better on Whitnall and maybe Fred or Bock on Fev. Rutten got a towelling, but he just isnt suited to play on him.

5. Simon Goodwin - put his hand up all day and set a terrific example - tried so hard a couple of times he fumbled the ball though!
4. Rob Shirley - solid in the clinches, excellent goal when we needed it
3. Mark Riccuito - excellent early and kept at it all day - was hoping he could repar that T/D goal on a couple of occasions - but seemed unable to yesterday!
2. Nathan Bock - actually looked like he belonged out there - a good sign - and 2 goals to boot!
1. Nathan Bassett - did some nice work - tried really hard to provide drive and back up from defence all day

apols to Torney and Mattner

TM
3. Michael Doughty - put in harder than I have seen including a couple of really strong efforts when we needed them
2. Ben Hudson - great to have a player like this in the side
1. Scott Welsh - great last 1/4 influence on the game - and could have got a few frees during the game.

As a team leader he has to live up to higher standards for 5 votes than do Bock or Shirley who I had ahead of him.

He also tired in the last quarter and let his opponent get the footy at vital moments.

That's ok dude, It was just a poor attempt at humour. Everyone's entitled to their opinion and don't need to explain themselves.
