A good result for the Cannons today.
After an ordinary start with lots of targets missed they worked hard, followed Hydee's instructions and came through with the points.
Calder's big men were sensational with Angus Graham dominating all around the ground, 'Mule' Robertson grabbing everything within reach and getting it off to his running team mates. Jarryd Allen took some good grabs and is coming into some good form. James Wall ran all day, took some great grabs and spoiled heaps, and delivered to his mates. Wally's presence was a decisive factor in the game. Its great to see him back in good form so soon after coming back from a broken in a practice match. TK Paiti did the great hassle and bussle stuff we all love him for. Jake Foulds was outstanding in one of his first games. David Scott played a great game spoiling many forward thrusts by the Knights and shutting down a key forward.
The smaller brigade worked hard all day and after making some skill errors early they kept persisting and after half time they brought home the bacon with the help of the big guys. Matty White's hard running and getting the ball forward was good to see after getting over his ankle injury. Richie Douglas was in and under all day. Fort Caruso was fantastic and fearless. His tackles on several of Northern's biggest players was outstanding. He didn't kick today but his around the ground performance was sensational. Gareth Phillips attacks on the footy are unbelievable. He and Fort have to have hearts as big as Pharlap.
The rest of the Cannons supported their mates and slogged it out for the whole game.
For Northern, Nick Lynch and Nick Carnell battled hard all day with a few other good players supporting them. (sorry guys but I don't know you all - yet) Their strength seemed to be in their running plays, but they were not as strong in the contests as the Cannons. To the Knights credit, all of their players battled hard to the end and never gave up, kicking a couple of goals in the last quarter that nearly brought them back into the game.
The Cannons get Shane Neaves and Brad Allen back next round and after these guys get into form they should be nearly at full strength again.
Chewies stats so far this season are 8 chewies for 6 points and 2 goals. Not bad for an old bloke.

Caruso went into defence late in the game and he showed another side to his game on playing tight and winning contests against the Knights little bloke Bransgrove.
Do you know if Foulds injured himself late in the game? I think he came off and went into the rooms.
Good to know they get Shane Neaves and Brad Allen back next game up at QEO against the pathetic Bendigo. I'm guessing Angus Graham will be in and out of the team so Neaves will be a big help and Brad Allen should be able to do a job in defence.

I think Foulds has a concussion.
