View Full Version : Is Bolton worse than Henneman?

Bolton is a complete dud...his skills are shocking and he has no footy smarts. He can't talk a good mark and he is not accountable.
I see him as a liability and he should be delisted or traded by the end of the year!
This leads to the unbelievable, yet justified question - is he worse than our very own KING DUD - #3?
Henneman has better skills and is a bigger body. But he has no idea on the ground. So you could say he is a bigger waste than Bolton. If Henneman had a football brain he'd be fantastic.
Bolton MUST be traded.
Proven not good enough in our team time & time again.
Those that wish to defend him may claim he is athletic, versatile etc but he is quite simply not a key forward, not a key defender & not good enough to be in the midfield. Period.
At most he is a useful spare parts player but even this is not a good enough justification because he is consistently let down with poor overhead & ground skills. He is in no way shape or form a matchwinner at Essendon. He may be at another club.
Time to part ways.

I never used to think so, but now I'm not so sure. Maybe that's only because I haven't seen Henneman play for awhile.
Two of the worst decision makers with the ball that I've ever seen.
A player that can not kick a ball more than 30 metres, on the run, does not deserve to be playing at this level. He lacks all football nous, and does not have the pace nor marking ability to make up for his obvious deficiencies. He is wasting space on the Essendon list. I know Henneman's contract is up at the end of the year, but when its Bolton's? I want him gone. He does not figure in the future of the Essendon Footy Club.

It`s a very good question, almost too good. I`d take Henneman just , probably because last year he was out injured and he popped into The Royal before a game to catch the show, you have to admire that.

henneman and bolton are both complete duds. useless....henneman was never any good whilst bolton used to be ok.
jacobs should have remained at essendon...worst pick up we've ever got. his done little for hawthorn since coming over from essendon.
i think sam hunt is sheedys new long term project and he aint much either.

I still think Henno could 'ok' if left in a key defensive spot, preferably FB.

I agree..matty knights would love a solid FB.

Is the pope a catholic?
Bolton's been on our list for about 7 years and he's only strung 89 games together. ********ing dud. Back in 2002 my cousin said he was an absolute dud and I told him to get ********ed but now I realise he is a dud.
Delisted!

centre-half bench and left right out respectively and im being nice
Number 4 pick in the draft - horrendous crucified the EFC, surely there must have been signs that he was an athlete and not a natural footballer. I still see clubs doing it - selecting guys with top picks because of their athleticism, i suppose this helped us get Monfries last year. Once a player looks lost on the field and they have been playing a couple of years i dont think there is much chance at all of them undergoing a brain transformation.

Sorry i forget you talk marks, i thought you take them, but your thread so you can make up your own sayings. Personally Bolton creams Hen but no where near what essendon need him to be to become succesful, trade them both for a draft and try and start again.
Tough question, very tough question. Personally, I think Bolton is a marginally better player. A year or two ago, I though he'd be alright as a running half back, or half-forward flanker, but now, I'm not too sure. He's got no football brain, and he's weak as ******** overhead.
Henneman, on the otherhand, I've never rated. He's always been a dud, and still is. HOwever, he may have a purpose when we're struck down with injuries to our KPP's, since he's a big lump of man. Unfortunately, size is the only thing going his way.

Mark Bolton has continually shown himself to be one of the worst no. 4 draft picks in the AFL. She has very little or no courage, fumbles often and turns the ball over countlessly both by hand and by foot. His fumble at the top of the goalsquare against WCE displayed his lack of fundamental motor skills.
He has the reaction time of a turtle and the turning circle of a whale. This guy needs to go, even if he is not traded just elist him as he is only worth a draft pick in the high 70's/early 80's. Either that or we could trade him for 'goosey' who played in the legends match, at least he has a bit of ticker. If Kevin Sheedy replaced Mark Bolton on the field, even he would be more valuable to the Essendon Football Club with only one hip.

Do we really need another thread on Mark Bolton? It's all been said before.
And for all his flaws, one thing you can't question is his courage and commitment.

I think Mark Bolton is a class above Henneman.
I think Henneman should be dropped and we pick up a good CHB.

Good game by Bolton tonight did some very good things.
he did good things because he was played as an attacking wingman, which is where he belongs...not in the backline where his error-prone behaviour costs us goals
i agree...really good game for him

Bolton is the biggest dud to have lasted so long on a list. I think he's about 26-27 years of age, been on the list since he was about 18-19, but I've heard Sheedy say that Bolton is one of his favourite sons. Good to see some loyalty shown in footy these days I guess, but realistically he should have been axed a while ago.

not a bad effort tonight, but still a long way to go.
having said that, I'd much rather bolton in the seniors than henneman

jazza is right....Ron should get those eye's less black if u ask me....from kouta
The worrying thing is that Carlton is the most likely club to select Henneman over the summer once he's delisted!
