In the early eighties there was a power failure during a game at the Western Oval. This meant that the PA system wasnt working and the timekeepers couldnt sound the siren at 3/4 time. They resorted to ringing an old bell from the Gent stand trying in vain to let the umpire know that time was up.

The question is: Who was the opposition coach who ran onto the ground and interupted a very suprised looking umpire(Kevin Smith I think) in the act of bouncing the ball? He then put his arm around him and pointed up to the bell sounding from the Gent stand.

It was pretty funny.

LY, from hazy memory I think that the game was versus Geelong, and that the coach was Tommy Hafey.

I read the question, lined it up from 50 out on a slight angle, and kicked it straight into the too hard basket. :o
