Hey Mobben,
Wheren't the reds in a similar position last year and then fell in a heap???? Is their a different feeling around the club this year??
+ why don't any players stick around opposition club rooms for a beer after each game?? Do they think that they are better than everyone else????

No, the Reds were actually looking like just sneaking into the finals for most of last year, which they did. In the finals, I actually didn't have confidence they'd win the first semi, but they snuck home in that, but then had stage-fright in the Prelim and received a pasting. So in summary, they were in a lesser position last year, and slightly improved their output in the last stages before crashing. This year they've been pretty consistent all year except for two major troughs; Rd 1 and also during a loss to Prahran.
I can't see them missing promotion this year. Whether they win the flag, is not solid in my opinion.

This is the type of attitude that is expected from a club that has an large of fan base and therefore a large amount of money (aka Ajax). Be very careful, when you get to the higher grades (and you will, no doubt about that), you will notice that other clubs have genuine respect for each other in the way they go about things. Doing things such as this is bound to do your club more harm than good. You are not in a local league that can affort to buy players when the stocks are down, and in the future when it comes down to it all a club has in the ammo's is respect.
At this stage (begining of an successful era) you do not have nor show any respect.

Is this some kind of joke? Do you really expect the fans of a footy club, any footy club, to sit quietly and golf-clap the opposition efforts with a 'jolly good show' and a 'quite'?
Maybe that's the spirit in the rowing club, but there's only two options in the real world : beat 'em, or annihilate them. You can have your pleasantries, but if I spend too much time showing given respect for other entities, then I would be ostracised, and deservedly so. I'd ostracise myself.
There have been too many real 'niceties' over time between me and Pies, Dogs, Tiges and the veritable etceteras for me to sit back and treat this as a freaking GAME. Its not my job. That's the team's job.
I'm sure the Reds themselves have the utmost respect for the other clubs, and surely justifiable reasons for not remaining for a brew. I saw them play away against Glen Eira, and none hung around ... but that was because they had a major event on, that evening.
Of course, when few of us can choose our own education, so many must accept not being able to make such astute conclusions.
Turning up on the Reds message board purely to troll doesn't exactly put you in esteemed company. That's what comes to mind when you bring up the subject of respect.
Beautiful. Just beautiful.

Mate,
I think I've hit a raw nerve. I'm not trolling on this site I am purely suggesting that they boys take things in their stride, they will be a force. However if they get too cocky and too far ahead of themselves then that may come back to haunt them. THEM BEING THE PLAYERS. Not the spectators which you have taken out of context. Are you one of those people who only reads the headline and not the article??
I hope what you say is true and that the players do respect other teams they play, the only reason that I have brought this up is because from an outsider, it seems that they have got off on the wrong foot in this department.
"Of course, when few of us can choose our own education, so many must accept not being able to make such astute conclusions."
It is comments such as this that get people nowhere in life, and the exact thing in which I am talking about. Take it back a peg or 400 and realise what competition you are in.
Ammo players play for the love of the game, yes in playing any GAME you try to win at any cost. But their is more too that in this comp, and if you do not realise that then you will be chewed up and spat out.

* Thanks for your sage like insights into the most applicable / non-offensive way the for ambitious clubs to conduct themselves and “go up through the grades”. I was not aware that a blueprint exists down at the VAFA headquarters that outlines this process step by step.
*note: the above is written with copious amounts of sarcasm.
Seriously, there is not one model for clubs to follow during this process. By this I mean each club has a vastly different background, history and cultures etc. As such, the ways and means the rise up through the grades differs greatly. Comparing old school teams to regional and district teams is just plain ridiculous.
As for appropriately respecting other teams. Hmmmm………… give me a break, it’s hard sometimes to differentiate between confidence and arrogance for they are indeed close bedfellows.
IMO respect is an ambiguous term, not tangible and measurable. By this I mean, the way a club and its players behave it is very much open to one’s interpretation. It’s a bit difficult to be the best judge when you’re on the end of a ten goal thumping.
To my knowledge there is no Respect Police around. Perhaps we should enlist you to provide “lack of respect infringements” every time a player celebrates a goal or win. This will indeed halt this nasty practice
It’s very easy to criticise the way the Reds are going about it, but, they have had considerable success. However, remember, this rise of the Reds is in its infancy. I suggest we sit back and watch it all unfold. If the castle crashes down, then you can critique all you wish. If not, winners are grinners and losers can go please themselves.

going along nicely.
What would be the highest Grade possible for the club to achieve. A Grade or B Grade is still a long way off
Mobbenfuhrer

Highest grade? Nothing is impossible, but I doubt that the Reds'll just settle into C Grade next year as though its pie. I am sure the Reds'll go up at end this season, and next year in C Grade, for mine would be any position from 6th to last, dependent. C Grade is a big jump.
I wouldn't expect the Reds'll be ready to go any higher for two or 3 years. It may take ages longer. I think consolidating C Grade will be much more immediate.
Reds are now 13 and 1. The worst they can finishes H&As is 3rd, and that's with all losses, and 3rd with all wins AND a percentage blitz.
