I think there's no doubt that Brett Lee will now play in the tests, but the big question is who will he replace? Jason Gillespie or Michael Kasporwitz?
Your thoughts on the subject

I said a few weeks ago that Kasper and Bing should fight for a spot in the tour match. After today I add Dizzy in there, Pidge gets a rest and the worst performer in that game misses out
Dizzy gets the nod JUST, but if he fails and it becomes horses for courses, then Kaspa.

In test cricket
Kasper >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Gillespie
In my biased, wanting england to win thinking, pick Gillespie
Difficult question but I think we should stick with dizzy. Drop him if he doesnt perform. Theres 5 tests.

IMO, while looking ordinary ATM, if his lead up form is ok, the bloke deserves the first test. If he still looks flat, Kaspa gets the nod from there.

Diz
He is in his worst form slump (There haven't been many) for 7 years
He doesn't need matches, what he needs is a break from matches and a week of hard work in the nets. It won't get your form back in matches when batsmen are targeting you.
Needs to work on some of the technical aspects of his actions that are going haywire at the minute.
He is the only out of form bowler and bowling worse and worse, unfortunately he'd have to miss out
And am surprised with the total lack of respect shown to Kasper, that bloke is a gem, yet people only talk about him when they want him dropped. What an absoltue disgrace

If Gillespie doesn't find form soon i will scream. At this point i want Kasper in the side.
I heard on the commentary that Australia don't have a bowling coach...why not? He needs help.

Neither. Both play.
Lee can f*ck off and carry the drinks until Dizzy or Kaspa loses form in TEST cricket, not meaningless hit n giggle cricket. Until then Lee can just wait for all I care.

I doubt Lee is getting a spot in the Tests yet.
I think the selectors will stick with McGrath, Dizzy, Kaspa and Warne.
Then if one fails, Lee might get his chance. They are very loyal to players who have done the job.
I certainly would not drop Kaspa

With our team in patchy form, now is the time to bite the bullet and make some decisions regarding the side. We can't really afford to carry players anymore in my opinion, because England are a quality unit. Dizzy has been in poor form and he must go.
But I like Russian's view that we should rest McGrath for the tour match and see how the three perform on the same wicket to the same batsmen.
IMO, while looking ordinary ATM, if his lead up form is ok, the bloke deserves the first test. If he still looks flat, Kaspa gets the nod from there.

We've looked at the bowlers....now time for the batsmen.
I'm not one for making wholesale changes...but unless something happens after this series, we are headed for one hell of a vacuum of talent.
Clarke is the only young batsman in the side.
The rest, apart from Ponting, will probably be not around in two years time.
With that in mind, it's definately time to get a new player in the batting line-up after the Ashes. Just to allow them some experience at test level.
Who's out?

Problem with lee is he’s still going at 5 an over for the series, he’s used the new ball well but his spells after the pitch dies down are usually average at best, I am still not convinced he can be a major force in test cricket once the ball gets older as he still can’t maintain his pace or his line and length for more than one spell.
What I also find strange is that one dayers are considered the ultimate guide for bowlers but not batters, after all Clarke was a walking wicket against Pakistan, a walking wicket in new Zealand when the ball moved and he’s looked a club player so far in England, I can’t sem him averaging over 25 so if lee gets back into the team surely hussey is a certainty to replace Clarke?

I don't think Clarke will handle the moving wickets either but he will most likely play all the tests as the Australian selectors try to get him ready to become a senior player when all of the older players retire.
May be a bit biased as a VIC, but IMO Cameron White should be over playing a few games to get him ready to become a competant batter and bowler on the international scene.

First Cameron White has to become a competent batter and bowler on teh domestic scene.
Clarke has to be given first crack for mine, but I think his sabattical (like every batsman for Australia over the last few years has had) is just around the corner. A few seasons in domestic cricket sorting out his technique to good fast bowling will stand him in good stead. I think we're starting to see why his FC average is so ...average.
(And I'm doing a great job of filling the cricket forum :D )
