What players should essendon draft? I think Porter would be handy. But Robert Shaw on footy feedback last night said that they would be looking for more midfielders with decent leg speed.
Is anyone reminded of '86 after hearing about Mercs and Joe this morning? Bloody silly IMO.
I'm not sure what the club is going to do re: trading. Over the past 4 seasons...Essendon have been pretty inactive in this area. Trades have been rumoured, but nothing has eventuated. The coaching staff believes that their future belongs with the kids and not short-term patch work...and i tend to agree with them. I don't agree with trading a Misiti or Mercuri for draft picks...a ready-made skilled youngster would suffice. But no...i don't want either to leave dammit!!!
We trade away Misiti, he'll win the Brownlow next season! :mad:

I'd Say Get Braun from West Coast He Is a real Good midfielder and has great leg speed!
I don't understand why the club dosen't piss off McAlister. He is a dead set hack!

Yea, I remember big wraps put on this guy.
Injuries I guess hampered him, but I suppose he just didnt come along as predicted.
We have persisted for so long with him tho, there must be something there that we dont see.

Yeah, probably. lol
I don't think we should get rid of him. He simply gets the ball too much. Yes, he's bloody slow, and it's ****ing annnoying sometimes, but so was Greg Williams. We could regret getting rid of him.
Mercuri is a different story though. We've got so many similar players now.
But Misiti....?

I'm very unhappy at the idea of Mercuri or Misiti going.
But especially Mercuri, if only because Misiti's name gets mentioned every few years as possible trade bait. But they're both good players, and they've both been there since they started and it just seems WRONG.
or perhaps I'm being too sentimental about it.
But one question, and I in no way would want this to happen, but if we'd trade Misiti and Mercuri, then why not Hird. Yeah, he is my favourite player, he's inspirational, magical whatever adjective you'd like to use... but both of these players are more reliable than him.
It doesn't make sense.
