Does anyone have it ?
Is it worth getting ?
It would be even better if it cut out the ad breaks while recording your program. like the TVO the Americians use.

I got home on Thursday night after work to find a 2 month free trial offer (with discount on the orginal cost if I decide to keep it). I rang that night and it was delivered at 9am this morning - not a bad turn around at all.
Anway it was very easy to install, just swap over the cables, give them a ring and they talk you through setting up the record buffer times and live pause times and then they activate it.
It looks like it will take a little getting used to, but I like the idea of a 2 month trial and hand it back for nothing if it doesn't suit our needs. Our VCR died recently so maybe this will turn out to be a good alternative.
And even though Ch7 & 10 are analogue retransmissions instead of digital, you can still record from them or use the live pause feature.

Costs a f'ing fortune though doesn't it? I've seen it used and it looks good, but for the price I heard it's nowhere near worth it.

So you get to record repeats on Foxtel?
Other than the live sport, the rest is repeats that can be found elsewhere for a cheaper option.
Foxtel need to repackage their goods into a more $$ saver format.

Howd you get the free trial?
There was a flyer in my letterbox from foxtel offering the free trial - arrived in last Thursday's post.
Yes it is generally expensive. $395 fee plus $100 installation - but the trial was only $30 up front, self install and nothing to pay if you advise you don't want it anymore within the 2 months.
I already got the $100 waived if I installed regardless of the trial because we have the platinum package.
The offer said that if I decide to keep it it's the $395 - the $30 and still minus another $70 that was the offer for 'everyone' and I pointed out that I wouldn't have had to pay that $100 in total anyway so they still took it off. That left $295. I then faxed them a copy of the letter they sent me last year promising a $179.95 rebate from my digital transfer to my new house because they didn't organise it (they said 3 month wait - I arranged it direct with one of their subbies after foxtel ********ed me right off) and they still hadn't applied it to my account. I got a letter in todays mail (that is bloody quick for them a couple of day turn around) confirming that rebate will be applied to the $295 if I decide to keep IQ. So I would end up paying $115 if I decide to keep it. If I like the service then I will keep it at that price.
I wasn't prepared to fork out $395 for something that I hadn't tried and didn't have an out clause, this offer gave me the opportunity to try it out without spending the big bucks. From what I've seen so far, I might keep it, but then again it's only been a few days.

Oh come on! Not everything on Foxtel is a repeat!! And for a uktv junkie like myself foxtel is invaluable. Now I've already recorded tonight and have set up series recording for the next week for Eastenders. The return of Den Watts from the dead. The highest rated week of the show in 20 years and 2 years after it was aired in the UK you still have to back order to get it on dvd!
But seriously if it is as easy to take from the IQ to the PC then burn to dvd as has been touted, then yes I'll seriously consider keeping it.

Do you have Foxtel? There is a heap of stuff on Foxtel that is either not played on FTA or played at all sorts weird and changing times.
I am thinking of getting the IQ, but I think that buying a DVD burner + hard drive costs about the same as getting IQ + DVD burner, so I haven't decided which way to go yet.
