Lets have a bit of fun

The first XI of the Australian team has been bedridden with the flu, they are all ruled out of the 2nd test which starts the next day making it impossible to get anyone in from Australia, what is your team made up entirely of the reserve players and county players

The obvious ones are
M.Hussey

B.Hodge

B.Haddin

M.Kasprowicz
S.Tait
S.MacGill

Do you bring in Phil Jaques to open? Or open with Haddin and re inforce the middle order with Symonds and Watson? Do you ask Lehmann if he feels like playing? Also Judas is out injured so is not an option. Do you go for experience in Love and Law or new players like David Hussey?

This should create some good debate to take our minds off the joke of a first test ;) :p

Jaques or Rogers to open.

Watson at 4. D. Hussey 5. Symonds 6.

Damien Wright as the other bowler maybe, not too sure who else is playing over there.

Law (Capt)
Watson
Symonds
Haddin (wk)

And I reckon this side would give the Poms a good run for their money.....can't go for Elliott, as he is injured, correct?

isn't Law a pom now?

What does it matter?

Send over the northern territory blind schoolboy under 7's, they'd more likely than not flog the poms.

Wow Eddiesmith you've changed your little sig a bit, dropped off how good a captain Vaughn is, hmm why is that, is it because HE can't set a field, can't make double figures when he bats, can't pick which of his useless bowlers to use, can't get his team to hold a catch, and can't harbour any realistic chances of England winning the ashes back in his lifetime?

Sad for pommy sport that a wicket keeper that couldn't hardly get a club game in Australia and some big hitting South African that can't catch are all you can rest your hats on

England 1st innings R M B 4 6
ME Trescothick c Langer b McGrath 4 24 17 1 0

Yep Ponting is really crap compared to Vaughn

ponting avg first test two innings 51 runs = 25.5

Vaughn avg first test two innings 7 runs = 3.5

yeah Ponting is really a dud compared to Vaughn

isn't Law a pom now?

I believe he is now elligible to play for Emgland, but until he does, I assume he retains the posssdibility of Australian selection....and since he fell through the cracks in the awesome taylor sides, why not have him come back and skipper- certainly proved his worth with the Bulls dynasty, is doing very well with Lancs and knows the English team and grounds quite well..

BTW, the Poms could do a lot worse than dropping a couple of their middle order and bringing in both Stuie and Thorpie....

I wont take County cricket averages into consideration since it is such a poor standard of competition as Ian Bell proves, so I wont be picking D.Hussey

1)M.Hussey
2)P.Jacques
3)B.Hodge
4)D.Thornley
5)J.Maher
6)M.Bevan ( I know, but after his season last year he deserves to be picked.)
7)J.Moss
8)W.Seccombe
9)A.Bichel
10)S.Tait
11)S.MacGill.

Now try and pick an England 2nd XI

Its a bit of fun, geez.

There is a limit on how much you can put in your signature thats why Vaughans stats were left out

BTW, didnt realise catching was a prerequisite for a good batsman or bowler, if it was then Australia would have a completely different XI

Crap you changed your sig because the pommy captain is good for nothing but the odd facial expressions when the camera pans to him.

And catching is a prerequesite for every cricketer, sadly you don't have any good ones
