Out of this group of international spinners how do you rate them best to worst:

Shane Warne (AUS), Stewart McGill (AUS), Bradley Hogg (AUS), Harbhajan Singh (IND), Anil Kumble (IND), Muttiah Muralithuran (SL), Danish Kaneria (PAK), Daniel Vettori (NZ), Ashley Giles (ENG), Mohammad Rafiq (BAN), Nicky Boje (SA), Paul Wiseman (NZ), Chris Gayle (WI)

and any others you can think of.

You underrate Vettori there, Cooldude. I think he's a better bowler than you give him credit for.

And, watch this space. Three months later, Dan Cullen's name should feature near the top of that list.

.

I rate Vettori extremely highly, but I just couldn't get him ahead of most of those quality spinners, perhaps he'd be ahead of Kaniera though

He is a class class bowler still

I actually agree with Eddie there. However, I'd swap MacGill for Wiseman, and close the 'daylight' gap between Wiseman and Gayle a little.

I’m surprised so many people have Boje above anybody. Although he does have a big repertoire including the top spinner, arm ball and the one that doesn’t turn.

In the second group of minnow countries or fringe test players I think Price has been exiled by Zimbabwe selectors after showing promise. Rafique and Boje stand out as the ones capable of winning a test match on a spinning pitch but unlikely to do much on normal pitches.

Not sure why people don't like McGill but the last time he played a full year of test cricket he was the second highest wicket taker in the world (a couple wickets behind Ntini in the year Warne was banned). Don't rate Kaneria that highly ... yet. Not enough match winning performances. Got a couple 5 fors against Australia after a lot of overs. In county cricket this year he got a 6 for in his first match and in his second match set a record for the most overs bowled without a wicket.

Thats not true.

Giles has the arm ball, the one that doesnt turn and the four ball. ;)

Cooldude
4 Aug 2005, 14:34
And the four ball's his stock ball ;)

He bowls the arm ball as often as Josh Thurgood of Hawthorn getting lucky: Which is almost never
