Dunno what the record is but a few people were laughing at Shahadat Hossain after he made an embarrassing debut in the 1st test England v Bangladesh 2005 (http://www.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/2005/BDESH_IN_ENG/SCORECARDS/BDESH_ENG_T1_26-30MAY2005.html) but Brett Lee's figures today aren't much better.

86 balls that 100 came off, will check on the fastest 100 ever in a test and get back to you

Doesnt even make the top 15 with Viv Richards scoring 1 off 56 balls, Gilly and Haydos are both up there with 84 ball centuries

Fred probably found it with the Bangadeshi dude
Although we could narrow it down to the long standing test nations now

When he ended up with 4-201 vs Tendulkar and Laxman (and a couple of others showed up too) got his century from 23.4 overs.
B Lee 24-4-101-1
Have to feel for these blokes though...

1-298 LO Fleetwood-Smith Australia v England The Oval 1938
Fleetwood-Smith 87 11 298 1
That was the 364 for Hutton innings, 7/903 dec overall
most runs conceded in an innings without taking a wicket
0-259 Khan Mohammad Pakistan v West Indies Kingston 1957/58
Khan Mohammad 54 5 259 0
This was the Sobers 365* innings, 790/3 dec overall from 208.1 overs
Saqlain vs Smith and Gibbs in 02/03...
Saqlain Mushtaq 21-0-106-0. 100 off 20.2 overs.

Why am I not outraged or surprised at one of Australia's (apparently) leading pace bowlers being compared to a Bangladeshi debutant?
