i don't think Notting made flush contact with the ball today. both of these guys keep getting the ball and just can't dispose of it. Macdonald would lead our turn overs by Browny's bicep. they both should go at season's end we can't have two players letting down the rest. Both trying but how long can we keep saying that?

I think Notting has done enough in the last 2 months to secure his place. He's never been seen to be a superstar in the making and as long as the ledger shows he's been servicable at the end of the year insted of a waste for the entire season, then he should probably stay.

Joel Macdonalad is a confusing one. He must be doing whatever role he is given week in and out to still be getting a game. But what the hell that role is must be known only to the inner sanctum. From where I sit I can't understand why he's still there. That said, great effort that just didn't pan out when he tried to stop that goal this arvo. Even though it didn't go his way, it was a better effort from him in that few seconds of play than I've seen in ages. Hopefully he's learnt from it.

It's a hard one to reconcile - poor skills/disposal vs continuing efforts. Someone else wrote on another thread they didn't think JMac's disposal was all that bad today. From where I sat it was worse than ever. For his size he performs admirably on bigger opponents. But if the kicks don't improve soon.....

Notting's been pretty solid lately. Did nothing today of course.

That's gotta be a Notting trademark by now though yeah? He gives us a big sniff as if he's about to step up to that next level, then disappears. He must be doing what's expected of him though. It was only a 18 months or so ago wasn't it that he was touted as trade bait and told the bigwigs he wanted to stay? For them to still keep him on after the next year he must be achieving what they want from him more often than not.

I think Notting is just a big footy tease. You remember that goal in the 2001 GF where it was called play on and he was about the only player on the field to realise it and ran in and kicked a big one - a turning point for us in that game................his fresh legs off the bench that day went along way to securing us that premiership. But you have to be a bit player/off the bench player for a reason - I'm just not sure what that actual reason is. I think that if we had a fully fit team, he'd still be spending more time on the bench and dazzling us when he's on - we just don't have that luxury at the moment.

You guys are obsessing. Watch the next game and check out how many marks Bradshaw drops.

If you focus heavily on one aspect of one player week after week it will completely drive you bonkers.

Or when he managed to punch the ball away from a certain mark by Alessio in the goal square? Alessio had that mark on toast.

Everyone knows my thoughts on MacDonald though. Nuff said.
