When you look at it in the wonderful thing called hindsight, really we havent gone too far backwards from last year if backwards at all. Apart from the obvious positive, in blooding the young guys, the opportunity to play at the top level very early in development will pay back in spades down the track, but we have been in winning positions in quite a few matches we dropped, and only didnt get over the line due to the experience factor.

Games such as:

-The Blues Rd. 2 - Never should have lost this one
-Geelong Rd. 4 - were 4 goals up in the third quarter, winnable, inexperience
-Sydney Rd. 7 - again, 4 goals up at 3 quarter time, inexperience told
-Port Rd. 9 - leading at 3 qtr time, inexperience told
-WC Rd. 12 - huge effort, leading with 5 minutes to go, could have won but not too dissapointed
-Brisbane Rd. 17 - Right in the match till the death, very winnable, inexperience told, brave yet again

Really, if you turn the result around of those matches we are in the mix. In alot of them, we ran out of legs and the decision making wasnt there from the young guys in the heated atmosphere, which will develop with time and match fitness. I really dont think there is any reason to panic, the ladder position hasnt been there like previous years but the performance trends havent been to dis-similar, with the added bonus of a much younger team this year.

Not too far off the mark, scraping the bottom of the barrel, or fair assessment?

I think this year could have been ok, only that our senior players let us down.

With the likes of llyod, cupido, soloman, pevril having bad years, and rioli and mcphee missing chuncks from the season, thats where i think the bombers have failed.

I think for this years youngsters are going ok, but the dons need to work on getting their past good players up and running. Imagine if we can get llyod and cupido playing like they were about 3 years ago.

Sheedy said from the early days that this season was about finding 7 100 game players.

In Lovett, Laycock, Stanton, Dyson, Monfries, Bradley he has found 6.
And very good showings from Lovett-Murray, Winderlich, Slattery and Nash.

Given that we have pushed every top 10 side with the exception of Adelaide and the Roos, then we have a whole lot of positives to take out of this season.
