August 11, 2005

Brad Haddin, the New South Wales wicketkeeper, will lead a 14-man Australia A squad on the forthcoming tour of Pakistan in September. The side will play two four-day matches against Pakistan A in Rawalpindi, and three one-day matches against the same opponents in Lahore. Michael Hussey, now a regular in Australia's one-day team, has been named vice-captain.

The squad includes four players currently with the touring party in England, where Australia are contesting the Ashes. They are Haddin, Brad Hodge, Shaun Tait, and Stuart Clark. "We have selected a squad of players that we consider could play for Australia in the future," said Trevor Hohns, the chairman of selectors in a Cricket Australia release. "We believe it is a good balance for the tour which includes two four-day matches and three one-day matches."

The Australia A squad:
/o Michael Hussey (vc)
/ Phil Jaques
/ Brad Hodge
/ Marcus North
/o Shane Watson
/o Dominic Thornely
/+ Brad Haddin (c)
/o Cameron White
/o James Hopes
o Nathan Bracken
o Dan Cullen
o Michael Lewis
o Shaun Tait
o Stuart Clark

Hussey should've been captain but nobody jumps out as being a poor selection

Yep. Except Cullen in for Hauritz and Clark for Lee. Still don't think Lewis or Bracken should've been included

You can't have a guy as a reserve in the senior squad and not put him in the Australia A squad.

Well he only got in the Australian squad because he's from NSW, probably the same reason he got in this squad

Still don't think Lewis or Bracken should've been includedLewis maybe shouldn't play the one dayers and Bracken shouldn't play the four dayers, but they deserve their spots in the other teams.

Age Eddie.

There looking for 'A' sides, to be basically the best young talent not in the test team.

As good as Mick Lewis is, all likelehood suggests his chances of playing for Australia are slim.

The biased prick from NSW actually thinks Lewis is a chance to play soon, just look at the form, age and fitness worries over a few of the current team. Is next in line as it was between lewis and Clark for the extra spot in the squad whilst Lee and Mcgrath were injured

Nothing to do with Lewis being a Vic. They should be nurturing the younger generation of fast bowlers that will play regular cricket for Australia, not blokes like Lewis, Clark and Bracken who will be fill ins at best.
