Symonds is a big strong batsmen like peterson and has shown got form, plus he's great in the field and the added bonus that he can bowl off spin and tight medium pace which would be so handy on this pitch, I just want him to be given a go, I really think he can be a great player

Pieterson is five times the batsman Symonds is
Symonds is tried and failed at Test level, and never had the form or stats in Shield cricket to back up his selection
Don't get this sudden obsession with Symonds in the Test team

Everyone thought Lee wasn't suited to Test and he's (in my opinion) come up trumps. Give him Symonds another shot.

Two test matches against Sri Lanka- he scored a total of 53 runs in 4 innings...dismissed by Murali at least once, which is no shame.....
Bowled a total of 24 overs, gave up 84 runs....against a side that handles spin quite well....
Glad the selectors gave him a fair shot at solidifying a test place. Unlike a certain western Australian player that everyone wants in the side, Roy is tearing up the averages in the counties this summer with Lancashire, both in one day and four day form. More importantly, he has destroyed English bowling for years in the county game.

Been tried and failed miserably. May do okay on flat tracks but when there is a bit of lateral movement he really struggles.

County cricket is county cricket, even Brad Hogg gets centuries there.

But if you are going to change things up, you want people who are at least playing now, not sitting back in Oz with their feet up and a bottle of white at their side....and this batting lineup needs to be rocked to the very foundation....to put it bluntly, they suck....

FFS Bichel gets centuries in county cricket.

Australia don't need another flashy big hitting batsman. They need someone who can come in when the chips are down (of which is a pretty regular occurance lately) and graft or build an innings.
Since we lost S.Waugh and to a lesser extent Darren Lehman the only bloke who values his wicket down the order has been Warney!!!!
On a side note, I don't care how crook Michael Clarke's back is the shot he played last night was a shocker.
Why not give him a shot? Like our batsmen are kicking ass at the moment

Maybe this should go in one of the other 100 bring in ******** players threads?
Comparing him to Pietersen? Funny, funny guy

Symonds is twice the player Pietersen will ever be, and unfortunately the great man will likely never get the oppurtunity to play test match cricket again.

Hahahhahahahahaahahahahahahahaha
Some great comedy on these boards lately with the overrating of most players
Symonds is nothing, he is the most likely to make 30-40 and go out if he even gets that far. Symonds would be found out quickly in test cricket
All you have to do is get some ********ty medium pacer to bowl a ball outside off stump, he will move down the pitch, miss it and forget he is outside his crease and be stumped, Symonds would just provide more comical moments like that one if he played Test cricket

So with a highest score of 71, and an average of 58.25, just remind me which batsman 'goes on with it.'

Sure is- Pietersen not even close in any areas of the game....he is truly a Symonds wannabe....difference is, England will play Butterfingers and let him find the way...australia played Symonds in two Tests and said "Can't do it".
Should I bring out Symonds test figures from his 2 matches?
Well in Steve Waugh's first 5 tests he averaged 13. Just as well Australia gave him 'another' chance.
Who's Peterson?
Bowls leg-spin for Queensland.
