IMO keith Miller was the best

and to consider any other wicket keeper batsman ahead of Gilchrist is a JOKE.

I remeber reading a 60s article that suggested Hutton was better than Bradman.

the pommes are idiots.

Beefy was good, but Keith Miller was both capable of being an opening bat and a no.3 batsman, beefy wasn't that good.

Statistically Miller batted with an ave of abot 40 in test cricket and bowled with an average of about 22 or 23.

I think jacques Kallis bats at 50 and bowles at 30, and Sobers bats ata bout 58 and bowls at 36, Beefy bats at 36 and bowls at about 30.

as for Gilly, averages 50, nuff sed...

He'd have to score a hundred in the 2nd innings just to break even for the catches he dropped in the 1st innings. Glovework is often more important than batting average.

Agreed. For one of the few times in his career his dropped catches and patchy form with the bat have put him in the negative.

Unlike a lot of posters on here, I have always regarded as a competent to good keeper who is a sensational batsman. He misses too much to be regarded as a "great" with gloves.
