Does the Carlton B&F reward consistency too much?

IMHO Kouta was clearly our best player last year--but missed a few games due to injury--missed out.

Exactly the same thing happened to Ratts this year.

Worked out well that they got one each, but is there a problem with the system?

Yeah, there does seem to be a problem in the Best and Fairest voting system. Ratten should have won clearly this year... he was our best player, not to mention that Kouta had an up-and-down season. Well if Ratten hadn't of dislocated his elbow... he would of been a shoe-in :)

But congrats to Kouta though, at least he got something great of the season that was, he'll probably feel better after that tradgic knee injury.

I had tickets to the B&F but was sick so couldn't go. I gave the tickets to my brother and gave him strict instructions to sms me when the results were known.
When he sent the message "Kouta wins", I actually accused him of bull$hitting.
I would have bet on it be Ratten or Lappin.
Kouta was a big surprise, for sure.

I didn't think it was a surprise actually, he played some awesome footy this year, not as much as last but still, that Brisbane game he just tore Voss to shreds, stellar! Also the Footscray game, against Freo, even the Collingwood game first time around he was the catalyst for then revival in the 3/4qtr, lifted the whole team. I think we expect too much from him sometimes and that's why he seems to be up and down.
