Hi Footy Fans...

The reigning premiers were given a real workout this weekend, something that they badly needed on the eve of their anticipated match up against the Eagles this coming Sunday. There was a bit of disgraceful conduct after a bit of a box-on started up at half time at the players race at another game, and a top five team was getting a big time scare from a lower ranked side! Some of these bottom four teams are picking a real bad time to find some form, eh?

So lets see what happened this past weekend in this edition of the SANFL Wrap-Up for Round 20.

First up, Saturday arvo footy at NAP Oval saw the Bulldogs go head to head with the Redlegs. The visitors have, as of late, been extremely competitive but very unlucky as well after a slim loss to the Eagles two weeks ago and surrendering on home soil to Glenelg. The Legs were never too far behind the Dogs from the start, behind by 13 points at quarter time and shortening that to two straight kicks at the long break. When the teams came back on field, the Norwood charges began to fire up some, beginning Centrals first real test of their might. Centrals found themselves in a spot of bother when the Redlegs outscored them by eight points in the third term, drawing the Dogs' lead back to three points at the siren. But the Dogs would have none of that, while Norwood managed just 1.3 for the final term, the home side bagged 3.2 to win by 14 points. Daniel Schell was in superb form, not only kicking six goals but was also named best for his added efforts.

Over at Broadspectrum Oval, the Roosters came to crash Westies party as the Bloods honoured their past greats with their newly established WAFC Hall of Fame and a specially made heritage guernsey. Unfortunately for those former Bloods that attended, there was not going to be much to cheer about. The Roosters broke away to a 23 point lead at the end of the first term, then slowed down to a crawl in the second where they kicked 1.2 to West's 2.2. The past greats would not have been happy with their men as a dust up started in front of the juniors at half time, surprisingly not a single report was made. When play resumed, the visitors started another goal fest, 6.4 to 3.4 which saw the Roosters stretch their lead to 35 points. A disappointing end for the Bloods' day, a 1.3 to North's 3.3 saw the Roosters home by 46 points. Danny Hargraves kicked five goals.

In the ABC Match of the Round, it was over to Adelaide Oval's picture perfect surroundings for the Magpies encounter with the Panthers. The Pies were fighting to break into the top five, while the Panthers' was fading fast after such a promising start to the season. South showed signs of good form early, matching it with Port's best to lead by a point at quarter time. That didn't last long, but the Magpies' inaccuracy at goal kept the door ajar for the Panthers. They kicked 5.6 to South's two goals to lead by 23 points at half time. South outscored the Magpies in the third term, but poor shots on goal allowed Port to keep their lead which was cut back to 13 points. But the Panthers buckled and Port took advantage in the final quarter, booting away with 5.4 to 2.1 to win by 34 points.

The following day, with no Crows or Power games looming over their heads, 2000 people headed to Glenelg Oval to see the Tigers face the Eagles. It should have attracted more after the way this game turned out. There didn't seem to be much doubt that the Eagles would take this one after a 6.4 to 3.1 first term, but that feeling was cast aside in the second term as the Tigers kicked ahead to a one goal lead. Amazingly the Tigers kept the Eagles to just one behind for that period. After the half time break, the visitors snatched back the six point lead, kicking 3.2 to 1.2 for the third term. The final term was a cracker, but unfortunately for the home crowd, it was the Eagles that went out best. Inaccurate shots on goal cost Glenelg dearly, the Eagles re-taking top spot on the ladder from Centrals with their three-point win.

TV game was quite good to watch, Clayton with his usual big numbers, Waterhouse pulling a potential goal of the year out his fat a$$ and the progress of Kyle Jenner(watch this guy!) were the highlights for the Pies, for South not losing by 100 points, Ben Warren finding some goalkicking form and Clarkey getting a decent warmup before his Crow return next week were the positives.
