Credible source says Jhonson has quit Collingwood already, now, gonsky.
Would explain why he has dissapeared into thin air.
Well done Mick, driven another one away. I wonder if we will get anything for him or will he become another williams.

Christ, I keep hearing this.
A real bloody shame if true. One of the few players on our list that I like and have always liked.
Bloody hell.
At least Kingy hasn't quit!

I prey the info is wrong but I have bad feeling about it.
Would have to be one of my favourites to and really one of the most consistant over the years. If we loes him it will kill me to see him going well at another club. :(

Good news if thats true. Just found out he still has year on his contract anyway.
Fingers Crossed
good little, hard player johnson
Hopefully there is something better on offer with pick 1 in the PSD but if not he would be welcome down at Carlton to run around with his good mate Heath :D
Still has a year to run on his contract yeah??
If this is all true then good riddance. No one player is bigger than the club. We can certainly trade for him and hopefully pick up someone of worth. Perhaps bundle together for example johnson + lockyer/davis, and pick up an A/B grade player if any are on offer/looking for a move come october.
That said if its another one of those "rumours" i'd be more than happy to keep him. I think he will feature prominently in our midfield plans for seasons to come.
what would the reason be anyway?
No big loss.
So we'll have one less player who can't kick!

Big Footy isn't a source, but there have been several threads on Ben Johnson, 1 featured in the AFL Board 2-3 weeks ago saying he has quit, so I believe it may be true, and why not!
Ben Johnson has been my favourite player since he debuted that HOT and HUMID Monday afternoon against Hawthorn in 2000 (if my memory serves me right) and pretty certain that he kicked 3 goals in that match, his debut. Has been great since, wearing the no.26, formaly Rowdy's number and I just hope someone else fills that jumper the same way, without the quitting.

I hope your right mate.
He's had a crap year after getting injured in about Rnd eight. Needs to get away from the club for a short while, clear his head, and remember what a great club Collingwood is and how it can be a great club again, and how he can be a great leader in our revival.
Have a good holiday BJ, and come back to the club full of fire in the belly. The best way to show the coaches what you think of them is to perfom, not to quit.

isnt there a rule about trading players the same year they sign a contract? if that is so.. then he aint going anywhere.

I was at that game too. I think Josh and Leon also debuted that day as well.
I hope he stays. His skills have improved significantly and he took some real steps last year to become a very good player. He barracked for the Pies as a kid and idolised Gavin Brown, so if he wants to leave, he must really be ********ed off at someone.

Collingwood "debutants" in Round 1 2000 (where Collingwood won 20.20.140 to Hawthorn's 13.8.86):
Andrew Ukovic
Shame, I mean Shane, O'Bree
Damien Adkins
Leon Davis
Josh Fraser
Ben Johnson

LoL
i remember that debut game, i dont remember what Johnno did but i remember Chipper took them by storm
would be surprised if he was anywhere other than the Lexus Centre next season
Johnno kicked 3 from a fwd pocket from memory.
And I got sunburnt at the footy, hardly makes sense.
yeah that day was an absolute stinker....the season started a little earlier due to the olympics as i recall

Yeah, if you didn't get sunburnt, you weren't at the footy.
Chipper was the player that i idolised after that game, I am pretty sure he kicked the first and third goals of that game!!!

surely not!its hard to judge without being in the ineer sanctum, but unless we get something worth while in return we have lost a very good player, one of my favourites! because he is hard at the ball and he can create with his run! ever since his kicking improved he has been irreplaceable! i dont think there is any truth in it tho, as Mick was the one and only coach who woudl have given johno a chance! He would be the player he is today without mick, he owes him to stay! Not many coaches woudl have persisted with a player that couldnt kick and was not accountable, he has however come full circle and woudl be a great loss

Agreed... just he probably won't be leaving
Reckon we could offer Benny Johnson and 3rd round pick to bulldogs for Mitch Hahn or Daniel Giansericusa
Johnson is one of only 3 players to have supported Collingwood growing up (Carrots and Chad are the others). His hero was Brown and was given the number 26. I love the way he plays and hope he stays. If not we would be forced to trade him for peanuts compared to what he was worth last year and especially the year before.
