With the additions of Dean Brogan and Chris Hall from the Rookie List and Damian Hardwick through the trade period Port will now need to delist 6 players before the draft, who do you think they will be?
This is my 6:
Shane Bond - Constant hamstring injuries after his knee surgery has pretty much put an end to his career and now the addition of Damian Hardwick now means little chance of him making it back into the senior side.
Mark Harwood - 30 games in five seasons pretty much tells the story. He has not come on as Port would have liked and we can't afford to wait anymore.
Paul Koulouriotis - Two seasons on the list and only 3 games to his name. It will be interesting to see how Ports patience is with Koula, smaller players should come on quicker but I have a feeling Port may just give him another chance mainly due to being picked up high in the draft at 12 in 1999. Looking back over previous delistings in other years Port have always been patient with youngsters.
Jared Poulton - I think Mark has lost his patience with Poults. The last time he played at senior level was early in the year and even though Wilson was out with injury he never got a chance. With Wilson back and the arrival of Hardwick I can't see him getting a look in.
Nathan Steinberner - 20 games in five years, yet another player we can't wait for. Josh Carr has basically stolen any chance Nathan had, if any chances come up in the future we must look at other players than Steinberner. He has turned into a nothing player and really has no influence on a game.
Michael Stevens - 8 games in three seasons, extremely disappointing for a No.5 pick in the National Draft who was a direct swap for Adam Heuskes. I can only see him getting a go if there are major injuries.
I would have mentioned Adam Morgan but I have it on very good authority that he will be kept on. Brayden Lyle is also another but the fact Mark Williams showed enough faith in him to play him in the finals tells me his tenure at Port Adelaide has not finished.
There could be a surprise delisting in Fabian Francis but this will only come if Port Adelaide's salary cap is over.
What do you think?
Koulouriotis is a player with a lot of talent, but he has to work on refining it.....also had an unlucky year with injuries. No chance he'll be dropped.
Anyway, my 6.
Shane Bond - Port will be expecting Shaun Burgoyne & Kane Cornes to step up this year, most likely playing in the back pocket. Shane is getting on, and is too injury prone. Shame, really.
Brayden Lyle - I'm a Brayden fan, but this year he's seemed to be the slowest of our midfielders...not in pace, but in reaction and disposal....I don't think he fits into our now elite midfield....will probably get the chop.
Nathan Steinberner - One trick pony. Ronnie Burns doesn't play against us often enough.
Jared Poulton - The arrival of Damien Hardwick really makes Jared's position tough to hold.....he's great at lifting the side, and fighting for the ball, but his disposal and accountability can be costly at times....and those are two aspects that he doesn't seem likely to improve.
Mark Harwood - He takes a nice mark on the lead, and he can kick ok....but he just doesn't seem to have enough awareness or ball sense to play in the big league.
Michael Stevens - Hasn't really shown enough....its a tough midfield to break into. Port might pick him up again on the rookie list for one last chance, as he's still under 23.

My 6
Shane Bond - too injury prone now...i cant see him getting a regular game with us anymore. Its a shame his career had to end with a bunch of injuries
Brayden Lyle - too slow, disposal is appaling, altho he is a fantastic clubmen, i cannot see him getting a regular game next season. His time is up.
Nathan Steinberner - how he has lasted this long is beyond my brain capacity. For a tagger he tends to give his opponent first use of the ball all the time. Needs to go.
Paul Kouloriotis - i dont think he is up to AFL level. Has had a shocking run with injuries, but he isnt an AFL player.
Mark Harwood - this is a tough one as i like him a lot as a player...people forget he came to our club as a full back...maybe we could use him as that type of option if he is lucky enough to stay on
Derek Murray - another tough one...has the ability but is too small and makes to many errors.
I would really like to keep Harwood and Murray and delist Paxman and Mead but that will never happen. The reason i say that is because i cant see Mead and Packo getting games next year as a step in the right direction for our club. Mead especially is too slow now for a key position role. On a lead he is completly f*cked...that was proven in the semi final when he was beaten every single time to the ball by about 20m. Packo wont be the same player after the knee injury - despite having his best season this year. Id much rather FINALLY give Thurstans and Morgan a go...otherwise if they dont get a go next year, they may well either be delisted, want to leave, or we may find out they arent up to AFL standard - and that we have kept two players on our list for 5 years, both who were crap and didnt get a game till the 5th year.

My six delistings would be:
1. Steinberner
2. Harwood
3. Koulouriotis
4. Morgan
5. Poulton
6. Lyle
Shane Bond would also need to be looked at and given a Cockatoo-Collins style dressing down by the match committee to get him fit.
Lyle is a favourite of mine, but seems to be on the outer and a bit slow these days.
M.Stevens should be given another year, but obviously he would need to play at least 10 or so matches next year to stay on the list.
The six to go should be:
Lyle - too old, bad kick.
Bond - with the arrival of Hardwick who is another back flanker and the fact Kane Cornes will be even better this year and not forgetting Wilson, Bond has no where to play.
Poulton - see Bond
Stenchberger - see his name and all other posts in which he has been mentioned and the fact Ronnie Burns can't play against us every week.
I think the above four are almost certainly gone.
The next group is:
Michael Stevens - still shows signs of being a good player, may be a tad small for AFL.
Derek Murray - was given a chance but didn't really seem to grasp it. Kicking is a worry. Again may be too small for AFL. Positives are his pace and attack on the ball and his tackling.
Mark Harwood - I actually think he can play, but some weeks in the SANFL he looks absolutely useless, and other weeks he looks the goods. Positives when playing well good hands, pretty good kick, good lead.
I think any of the three above would be unluck but i would think two of them will go.
Some others mentioned before:
Koula - Probably should be given another year, i wouldn't delist him yet.
Morgan - According to some sources is an absolute gun according to others he is an injury prone log. I wouldn't delist him yet.
Lockwood - seems like he will be given another year to prove himself, i think since we have given him this long we should stick with him.
Thurstans - will certainly stay, apparently just signed for another 2 years.

The delisting of Fabian Francis is a real possibility, member revolt or not!
It was well publicised before the trading period that Fabian wanted a pay rise and would leave Port if he couldn't get what he wanted. Im sure his name was put before many clubs but none of them took the bait probably because of his asking price.
With the recruitment of Hardwick and the re-negotiation of many other contracts including that of Wanganeen it is a possibility that we may blow the salary cap. Im sure Port would not prefer to come to the point where they would have to delist someone of Francis's ilk but it happens, just look at Essendon at the moment.
A good look at the Essendon Board will show how disappointed they are at losing Damian Hardwick but I wouldn't expect a member revolt there. If anything Francis will have brought this more on himself than Hardwick did.

Scott - i agree its a possibility...but if we need room in the salary cap id much rather get rid of someone who is basically finished at AFL level like a Mead or Paxman who are both on reasonable contracts compared to someone like Francis

I'd rather lose Francis.......we can replace him easily. But really, I reckon delisting Lyle & Bond would do enough to cover Hardwick.
My six:
- Braden Lyle - for all the reasons mentioned by others
- Mark Harwood - haven't seen any improvement for some time
- Steiny - ditto
- Michael Stevens - ditto
- Shane Bond - for all the reasons mentioned by others
- ????????????
I really have a problem with delisting anyone else other than Bowen Lockwood - his method of tackling does not fit the PAFC ethos - but I guess they will want to give him another chance to show his "potential". He has played well in the past, and perhaps we would not have had that after-the-siren win over Carlton if not for his big mark from Stuart Dew's kick in.
I can't see Derek Murray being delisted. He is only just short of AFL and to me it is more mental than anything. Perhaps he is too anxious and trying too hard and needs more poise. I imagine his going would also adversely effect his brother's progress.

Now that Flash has said his pastures are greener elsewhere, my 6 delistings would be:-
Fabian Francis
Brayden Lyle
Shane Bond
Mark Harwood
Nathan Steinberner
Jared Poulton
If they want an extra pick the next to go would be
Michael Stevens
