View Full Version : Brett Lee....
Is he the unluckiest player to have ever played the game?
I'm not talking about any one ball... just match in & match out the amount of unlucky breaks he gets.... constantly dropped catches off his bowling & misfields, half his runs seem to come off edges and miss-timed shots, no-balls that are wickets, never-ending poor umpiring decisions - from obvious edges not given to plum LBW's the list goes on....

He certainly thinks so.
I think it comes with bowling at such fast speeds. A lot of batting comes down to luck when it comes to finding gaps.
He bowled poorly on day one. Tried his guts out last night but just couldn’t make things happen. Fat Man also bowled really well early on, did everything but get Freddie out. It could very well have been the whole match right there.

You could probably say the same things happen to most fast bowlers...it happens....a champion (read- McGrath) buckles down and sucks it up to keep going....

I think you only have to look at Doggard to know that a crap bowler can get wickets if he bowls to a plan.
Talent
Lee >>> Doggard
Brains and discipline
Doggard>>> Lee
and that sadly is a fact :(

You don't know cricket do you.
Brett Lee's bowled garbage in the test arena for four years. STOP MAKING EXCUSES.
Figures of 1/130 can't be argued to be anything but pathetic, but are we surprised?
Lee's making a habit of such figures and it takes halfwits like yourself to constantly defend the absolute crap Lee serves up with the red pill.
Unluckiest player to have ever played the game??? That is the stupidest comment I've ever read on here. How long have you been watching cricket you ignorant fool?
If I were to ask the question whose been the unluckiest bowler for Australia in the last ten years?, I can tell you most people will come up with the same response and it ain't Brett Lee, no one else would be stupid enough to put forward such a statement.
Just to prove to this fool people, who has been Australia's unluckiest bowler in the last ten years?

Lee is pathetic, last 4 years he has averaged 38 in test cricket and in this series is out to 37 again ..
Kasper had 3 catches dropped so he also could claim to be unlucky.
Problem is that blokes hit his bowling hard as the ball keeps hitting the middle of the bat, that is why a lot of his catches have to be classics as the ball has been smashed (to point, gully or backward square leg). Simply this is because he gets very little movement, and pace does not do it at international level. As proven by his bowling in his last 34 tests.

Hmmmm, so when Kasper bowls crap, he's a dud. When Lee bowls crap (As usual), he's unlucky?
Oh please

I'd say unlucky players
paul reiffel (keeps getting dropped every time they want to test another dud bowler) batting and bowling very acceptable.
Fleming/Gillespie = two bowlers who had injurys reduce their career
Bruce Reid = Almost as good as Glen McGrath, again crippled by injury
Merv Hughes = suffered from an incurable inability to refuse food when offered.

Bruce Reid with a stronger body would have been a legend

true, I think he will unfortunately be more remembered for the 12th man dedication to him, but he was a great australian bowler.
Much like McGrath, but he made bowling look sooo easy.

Don't be too hard on Lee, not too many players have scored 3 centuries in 3 and a half tests, this average puts him up there with Bradman. Its just a shame he isn't scoring those centuries with the bat, he's just allowing others to do it.

if we are talking unlucky bowlers, surely we cant go past bichel? he was the perpetual 12th man, and whenever he came in, he always got the job done and added some handy runs at number 9 aswell..!!

Bichs probably in the same league as kaspa, also the age thing.
we should be plumbing the depths of state cricket to find our bowling attack.
what about Rofe? he seems to be a solid unit and along with tait one of the few real bright lights out of the train wreckage of the SA season last year?
Rofe/tait/McGrath for the pace attack next season? what about lewis as the 12th man.
we won't find another McGrath easily but surely that would be better than Lee/dizzy and Kaspa?

As we continue our demise as a Test playing nation.
