View Full Version : If England win the Ashes...
Can they really claim it as an English victory?
A Welshman, a couple of South Africans and an Aussie all in the line-up. Not really the definition of home-grown talent is it?
I suppose they're just employing the same strategy that county sides have for years.

I love it how these things only get said when a team is losing.
On the flip side, if y'all win could it be said that you're not really beating England anyway, but a team composed of a South African and Aussie, and a Welshman.
Andrew Symonds is West Indian, give back the last World Cup you knob, If he hadn't made that 143 against Pakistan in the first match y'all would have tragically lost momentum and gone out in the first round.
By your logic anyway. :)
I also forgot to check on the nationalities of the 183 substitute fielders unethically used so far in the series.
Might take some time to research and compile.

I believe the head coach is s South African and I know Troy Cooley (pace bowling coach) is an Australian.
Import mentality is cancerous in English cricket. I wonder if they're hoping it's just a stop-gap until they can stand on their own two feet. Probably not, though, as that is how a proud nation would feel.

I wouldn't be suprised if they currently employ talent scouts in opposing countries to spot gifted youth that they might be able to entice over with the promise of a cheap national cap.
Now that I think about it, I honestly bet that they do.

Don't forget Marsh worked at their academy for some time...when in doubt, hire an aussie....
Could have handled them for another four years but be a relief.
