Which players do you think will get the chop?I think Chatfield, White and Vance will go.Players who will be nervous are Mathews,Cranage and Doering.
Does anyone know how our new recruits played this year in the reserves?I know Livingston was injured most of the year but what about the rest of them?

I have a list here and descriptions of who should go, so we can strengthen our list. For a start :

Scott Freeborn - De-listed. Can be an okay tagger, but usually fumbles in very important situations and not much useful for anything else. That is the last thing Carlton needs, is a constant fumbler... he had his chances, but I think it's now time to give him the flick.

Murry Vance - De-listed. He has spent a very long time in the reserves, and had plenty of chances to show his full pontential. But it seems that we are just wasting time with him, since we've gained nothing from him. We gave him too many chances, so now it's the case of departure for Vance.

Sam Cranage - De-listed. I don't rate him very highly... he doesn't look like the sort of player Carlton needs.

There are probably others that mention a name... but methinks that these three should get de-listed. Gave them plenty of chances to improve... but what else can we do to players who have kept the bench warm for the past year or so, or who have spent years in the reserves with little or no impact? I know that my tone is harsh... but in my opinion, some players need to get the axe to ensure a stronger list, and maybe even some early draft picks if may be.

Adam White has surely got to go--been around forever and his career is going nowhere.

Chatfield, Vance, and Matthews also are in trouble I reckon.

The Blues had 42 senior players throughout the year with the elevation of Prendergast and Plunkett from the rookies list. With the retirement of SOS and Rice the list stands at 40 now and needs to be reduced to a minimum of 35 before the draft.

Obviously the addition of Lindsay Smith and Justin Murphy means the Blues have already added two extra players to their list and I'm not sure under AFL rules if they are added to the list now or on draft day. If they are added now then the Blues need to reduce by 7.

With Koutifides out most of next season due to injury the Blues can elevate 1 extra rookie on to the senior list next season. I'm not sure if Christou will be asked to retire

The 5 players most likely to be de-listed are
Brett Backwell
Adam White
Adam Chatfield
Andrew Merrington
Adam Matthews

If two extras are need then it will most likely be from
Murray Vance who's season was ruined by injury and may not be able to shake it off
Sam Cranage who at the Saints was only a one position player and spent the season learning a variety of other roles and positions

As for the recruits-
Callan Beasy big strong player takes a good pack mark needs to work on his speed
Luke Livingston showed some class but season devastated by injury
Blake Campbell Good onballer who has a bit of dash and mongrel about him
Trent Sporn needs another preseason in the weight room.
Sean O'Keefe also needs more weight.
Simon Wiggins will only get better
Adam Pickering made his senior debut but needs to work on agility

That's not true at all- he was played everywhere in the VFL. He just couldn't find a spot anywhere- a pretty average footballer is his biggest problem, too slow to be a half forward, too short for key position, and too unskilled for the midfield. Sam was taken about pick 60 in the draft & was taken as a punt- it didn't work out.

Wasn't Vance taken top 20 a few years back?

Is he a key position player? What's gone wrong- injuries? Does he show any potential....when he was drafted I heard a lot of good things about him from one of my Carlton friends....surely they'd give him another year?

Vance was taken at number 6 a couple of years back.Maybe with Silvagni retiring he may get another chance. He is a tall defender.
Also i believe Pickering was promoted of the rookie list and not drafted. Thanks amazonstud for the update on the recruits.
