No, the weather and the flattest pitch ever will
Win bat, make 500-600, the opposition will make 400-500 and thats the end of the game

What will be interesting is if Australia made a miraculous return to form and starting making runs and started pushing their usual 500 runs with rain around if a declaration may be made earlier than usual with the need to win or will they stick with the arrogant, put the runs on the board, they will fold under pressure

Dont think you can get to worried about the toss - just whatever happens do your best whether its bowling or batting first.
Think England would prefer to bat first.

Has the Oval been anything but a road in recent tests, or in any recent FC or list a games at all?

It wont matter what it used to be, with England needing a draw or a win, they will make sure a draw is possible

Just about. We need to bat, make a solid total and then knock 'em all over for less than 250 in order to actually win the thing.
Oh and Ponting needs to be aggressive not conservative in he's field positions.

If England don't bat first it means they have to bat last. That means another run chase or bat out the last day and a half.

After that prediction, I guess I'll just take out a canister of sparkles, a bottle of glue and some green-coloured cardboard. I can use my time effectively now instead of watching the fifth Test.

Toss will not decide the Ashes....the players will. Whoever wins the toss sends the other guys in....England to force a declaration from Australia, Australia to get the 20 wickets they need as quickly as possible....
The folks at the Oval probably checking with the MCG on how to make a road.....the experts in bringing out drawn matches when a result is needed.
An in form Pigeon will decide the 5th test.

We need to bat first to have a chance, me thinks
Good to hear Fletcher saying they won't play for a draw, and interesting Giles said that they don't have one hand on the Ashes yet, positive stuff from the Poms.

True, but you have to account for rain...England have ABSOLUTELY no reason to declare....got to get them in and out ASAP....balanced against having Warne on a fifth day turner.

even if the poms are to win this one they will be back to being a joke when they come down here next year
decide the ashes?
No Australia's class and more importantly fight will win the game for them. After all the underhanded tactics by the 'win at all costs' inbred poms (oh sorry it's just the monarchy that are inbred) including ball 'doctoring' ( I wouldn't call it tampering), Sub fieldsman and Umpire selection (ECB influencing the ICC as to selection of field umpires) Australia will blast England away on a fast flat track, much like the first test.
its just sporn mum

stop being a sore loser. ffs sake. cricket is going downhill in australia because too many of our players are too worried with everything else and not playing cricket. too many 'rich' comments and too much sooking and a general lack of discipline. if punta is acting that way how u reckon everyone else is. the boys just need to worry bout playing cricket. too much crap. not enough cricket
