Ever the man to state the bleeding obvious, Neil Craig had this to say about having the favourite tag heading into saturday nights match...
"It's good to be the favourite because then people think you're pretty good."

I had to laugh yesterday when I heard on radio a quote from our coach. He said (or words to the effect)...
"I think Westcoast will rebound well against the Swans because they did have a number of good players return to the team all at once on the weekend. They will better for the run and closer to their best this week."
When I first heard this my initial thoughts were why is Chocko even commenting on a game between Westcoast and the Swans.
Then it came to me.....
He was obviously having a vailed attempt at diminishing the value of the Crows win at Subi. He simply was highlighting that the Eagles were underdone and therefore not at their best which is probably the only reason the Crows won.. ;)
I dont think we are in a position to point the finger when Choco is our coach. :p
Sometimes I do not think he realises what is he talking about half the time.

Having Choco as coach is precisely why i am pointing the finger at Craigy - i took solace in the fact that our coach isnt the only one that says some ridiculous things...

I think every coach has said something stupid in the past 12 months. Thompson with the 'leave him alone' comment, Choco with the 'Alan Scott you were wrong' comment. The ridiculous amount of interviews the AFL forces these guys to do, I am sure there are plenty of other pearlers that have been said by a number of coaches.

Explain to me how Choco's 'Alan Scott, you were wrong' comment was stupid. He was simply giving the fact that Alan Scott was wrong when he said that Port Adelaide would never win a premiership with Mark Williams as coach.
Alan Scott, you were wrong

Choco does his best work when he's indignant about something. Losing a close game, a player knocks us back, someone leaves the club unexpectedly ... he puffs up like a blower fish and spits venom. It can be quite funny.

It can be quite funny. He's very good back at the club, especially after a big win. A few pointed and funny '....I hope that doesn't get out' moments. Surprisingly it doesn't seem to. Nothing bad I should add it's just that we have Port supporters who dive on here after every post-match press conference and go out of the way to find -ves in what he says. Yet some of his choicer analysis is both funnier and also more cutting.

Gee, really?
He wasn't very funny or cutting on the Footy Show last night. Looked like he hated everyone and everything, especially when Sam Newman asked whether the team was totally united behind Tredrea's captaincy this week.
It was the only decent question Newman asked all night, actually.
So Newman only asks one decent question, and you wonder why Choco wasn't funny or cutting?

You thought that was a decent question? It came across as mean spirited and innuendo-laden, I thought. Just Sam as usual. No wonder Choco was flat.

I agree, it was a stupid question. That's all Newman is capable of these days.
Has he produced anything close to decent football analysis this year? He just makes trite statements and tries to get cheap laughs.
Chocko handled it well I thought.
Craig's answer was also more than reasonable.

I caught Choco's interview on the Footy Show and thought he handled himself well. Didn't try to be too clever, gave considered answers and defused a couple of the ticking bombs that others have been trying to detonate.

Gee, really? He wasn't very funny or cutting on the Footy Show last night......That sort of occasion would be at the other extreme for Chocco. I didn't know he was on as I don't watch it. I'm surprised he appeared. Last time I saw the public Chocco like the Chocco I see at the club was Talking Footy a few years ago.
I sensed a lot of love b/w Choco & Eddie in the segment - are they usually that chummy? (BTW I dont watch the show, was just passing a TV when it was on & there was Choco! The rest of what I saw confirmed my choice not to watch this crap!)
