View Full Version : tonight's match
Who reckons the swans were stiff? Very unlucky.
Great win by the eagles, excellent fightback, but boy some very questionable decisions (holding the ball to Hunter, shepherding decision resulting in goal to stenglein) and non-decisions (surely Goodes was legged).
eagles deserved the frees at the start cause they were first to the ball.
the ones at the end were harsh, still id prefer eagles in the grand final then sydney.
can see the attention of umps running through this finals series and unfortuantly i dont think the swans will be the only ones to suffer.
Swans - robbed.
Shocker.
I don't even like them and I'm still angry.
Tainted a great final.

tonight showed the need for a key forward that wins flags, weagles midfield carried them to vicrory. sydney looked buggered all those stoppages. thought early the weagles should have been further ahead god i hate watchin boring old sydney play.
only watched the last 15 mins as it looked close but would ruther the Swans won - they still in it?

The Stenglein free kick was a shocker, but the Eagles got as many bad decisions as the Swans.
The Eagles deserved to win as they made fewer mistakes under pressure, especially in the last quarter. LRT's "Gubby Allen" kick to Adam Hunter was terrible.
65-69 in good conditions :thumbsd: , wasn't a very high standard game, i don't think we would have been too far off the mark if we had played either of them last night.

The Eagles are very tough to beat at Subiaco, especially with that crowd behind them. They had more midfield run and flow to their game than Sydney and always looked likely to run over Sydney at the end; Eagle's forward line is fairly ordinary though.
I think they will get to the Grand Final, by virtue of a Subiaco Preliminary Final, but on the MCG will be beaten in the Grand Final by whoever gets to play them (likely to be St.Kida, Adelaide or Sydney).

Fantastic game to watch. The shut down style of Sydney against West Coasts all out attack.Sydney were raped and pillaged by the umpires.Glass had a hand over Halls shoulder all night.Love watching the swans play in high pressure games against free flowing teams. Its great to see two different styles trying to come out on top.
West Coast wont win the flag if they have to play the swans or crows away from subi in the granny.

Perfect result, couldn't think of a better team to be beaten, shame it wasn't an elimination final but I'm sure the AFL will assist their love child, the swans, to win their next final in Sin City, can't have them losing there, will reduce the so called popularity of AFL footy in the city.
The sainters! you beauty!
great game.
Robert Harvey - what an absolute champion.

harveys a champion, tonights game again emphasised the need of talls in the forward line, crows rely heavily on welsh to kick a score.

I thought the umpiring in the Saints Vs Adelaide game best I have seen this year. They let the game go and no real soft free kicks. The players were allowed to play and they had to get the ball by putting thier body on the line.
I really enjoyed the game as a neutral observer.

I was thinking the same thing.
They were red-hot on holding the ball but set the standard early and were consistant all night.
Missed some pretty obvious deliberate OOB, esp. Burton and Thompson, but again were consistant.

Pity the umpiring in Round 21 vs Melbourne wasn't of the same standard.
At least Melbourne are out now. Glad the Cats won.

Burton played a terrible game, no positive play at all.
Adelaide really missed Riccuito.
Harvey is a legend.

The umpiring has been generally excellent during the finals, as is the case every year. It baffles me why the umpires cant come out and be so good during the regular home and away season.
So far they've been mostly letting the game go, paying the bloody obvious ones, and keeping their homoerotic prancing to a minimum.
Slap: Umpires.

You obviously didn't see the Swans get raped.

Hence the generally in my post.
I didn't watch all of the swans game, but yes, the decisions that have been highlighted were shocking.
