View Full Version : Worst Clubs in the VAFA
Benny MOF

Old Paradians
Dung heap ground in hell hole suburb, worst looking female supporters in the VAFA, they have no teeth, always have fat blokes playing ones, tatoo's and ear rings are a prerequisite, as is the behind play cheap shots.
Fitzroy Reds
Thing they are better than what they are, set for a rude awakening in c grade. I think the old "Fitzroy" mentality may set in.
Whitefriars OC
A ground that resembles Wombat Gully with a surface that resembles StKilda beach, bad calls from behind the goals, the entire club is up "Buckets" Carrigg's behind
Old Melburnians
And we thought StKevin's players slept with the light on Absolute fags, jump at shadows if they're not playing on the "bowling green". Have they ever hung around for a beer at an away game???
Old Trinity
Just who do these blokes think they are, some of the most ordinary players that think they're good. without Rambo and Beardsley, they'd be in B grade.
Old Xaverians
Need I say anything.
Please feel free to add to this list.

Is "Buckets" Carrigg the pasty clown who plays in the forward line for Whitefriars? Say Boo and watch how high he jumps!
Melbourne High - They should put the train tracks in the middle of the ground. I'd rather play on the tracks than that surface!

Old Xav's - They need to have a competition to themselves where their Seniors, Reserves, Crocodiles, Thirds and U19's can all battle it out for the title of worst 22 blokes in Melbourne - enough said!

Fitzroy Reds have done extremely well over the last 5 or so years. I am not saying they will be promoted straight away in C grade but they are definitely on the right track and I look forward to seeing them in A section! :)
It is a shame that peolpe dont give them their due credit! GO REDS!

Someones probably upset the Friars sealed their fate and relegated St Bedes
Did Buckets kick a bag against you? :D
He played a superb last qtr in the first meeting between the 2, Friars were very unlucky not to win that game and 1 St Bedes player was lucky to not be rubbed out for the whole year

Just because you make the AFL with a famous surname, doesn't guarantee you are any good though (Cloke, Shaw, Scott). But That's an argument for another day.

Benny MOF (Supporter of the RELEGATED St Bedes Mentone Tigers), you start an uplifting, positive thread about the "Worst Clubs in the VAFA" and then you call people a "goose". What's going on there ? Are you a bit bored now that you have no finals to go to ?
Old Paradians
Dung heap ground in hell hole suburb, worst looking female supporters in the VAFA, they have no teeth, always have fat blokes playing ones, tatoo's and ear rings are a prerequisite, as is the behind play cheap shots.
They must be pretty good Fat Blokes though, as they made the finals. Also, what exactly is wrong with Bundoora ? The fact they don't live near the beach, full of cafe latte drinking upstarts who get everything on a plate from birth ? But we can all generalise can't we.
Fitzroy Reds
Thing they are better than what they are, set for a rude awakening in c grade. I think the old "Fitzroy" mentality may set in.
Do you know anyone at the Reds ? Have you seen them play ? How did you come to this conclusion. They made the finals too.
Whitefriars OC
A ground that resembles Wombat Gully with a surface that resembles StKilda beach, bad calls from behind the goals, the entire club is up "Buckets" Carrigg's behind
Isn't your club from near St Kilda Beach ?

Yeah, good point actually Pineapple.
I haven't forgotten them, they are in theback of my mind and they do take credit for getting me where I am today working with the Werribee Football Club in the VFL. Interesting to note though, was not given much mention when was fortunatre to have done a state game last year being the only non A-C grade person involved.
Will be going straight to Rupo after the Werribee v Northern Bullants preliminary final for what hopefully will be premiership celebrations.

1. I'm still involved in the finals, if you had done your research, StBede's reserves (my team) are in the prelim on Saturday, come down and watch the MOF in action pending my injured hammy getting through Friday's fitness test.
2. Generalising is good and creates heated discussion, that's what we're here for.
3. My conclusions come from a broad network of Amateur Football guru's, who's opinons are highly respected throughout the VAFA, I publish many of those 'off the record' comments.
4. If you check your map, Mentone is 10-15km's from StKilda. My reference was to the poor sandy nature of the Whitefriars ground, no need for a pre-season training in the sand dunes for them.
What VAFA club do you play for/support Serafini? Show you colours.
OK - I've held off long enough now.
Frankly Benny - your opinions are just that. Opinions - which you are entitled to hold, but I doubt anyone else would bother sharing them.
They're clearly not based on fact, rather mere conjecture and (not that I would ever suggest I'm one of those aforementioned Ammo gurus) I think there's plenty more here qualified in the to's and fro's of A Grade to provide a more accurate view of those clubs mentioned from the top flight. Likewise Fitzroy Reds (whom I presume you wouldn't have ever played against either).
As for your motives for starting this thread, well I can only guess. Suffice to say they're clearly not designed to foster intelligent, thoughful or useful debate within the VAFA ranks.
Given the St Bede's boys have ended up in C Grade for 2006, the reserves season keeps the club alive and you are to be congratulated for that.
Get to training, win your prelim, do something positive to give your own club something to smile about and stop stirring.

MOF, yes, guilty of not looking beside your post to see who you are aligned with. Does not excuse the fact that your original post on this subject is boorish, negative and doesn't contribute to a healthy discussion on VAFA football at all. Nor does it give you the right to call me a goose. (Take note, I have refrained from calling you names, but that's not to say I won't down the track.)
Perhaps if you could back up your criticisms with some sort of fact, instead of second hand information and heresay, your arguments might carry a bit more weight.
Incidentally, enjoy your game of seconds footy this weekend...........

Baby you need to settle down. From the side of the tracks I come from name calling is a way of life. How many times as I am been belted by men have I wished they were just calling me names.
I am sorry if I upset you. However you play with a scorpion and you gonna get bit as my husband Carl would say.

Why not....?
One J. Horn reports on amateur football and is quick to pass comment, having an opinion and being controversial will help your journalism career Ben, scoring at the cricket will not.
ps Roberta is not a tart I would be bickering with, she is more wired than your PC.

Nothing like bronzing, and I'm not talking about the solarium or a spray on tan....

You are right, the scoring at cricket thing is correct.
However, it's something I enjoy dong although not as full as it once was for me have calmed down quite a bit in that regard.
Yeah, I do like having a good time and talking with all the girls but have to know when enough is enough. Crossing that line wold lead to me losing my accreditation.
Anything else you would like to say ?

No, didn't mention that.
Rambo and Walshy are two great blokes at that club.
Fair enough if you think Linc Reynolds is a bad bloke, don't know him personally so can't comment.
Thought you said he was a ******** player or something like that.

'Coz on Thursday nights he does his goal-kicking in a full-body jet black cat-suit, complete with ears. Halle Berry-style.

Old Xav's - They need to have a competition to themselves where their Seniors, Reserves, Crocodiles, Thirds and U19's can all battle it out for the title of worst 22 blokes in Melbourne - enough said!

Benny MOF's 2007 WORST CLUBS IN THE VAFA LIST: (Headed by Peter Nicholson's two former clubs, a direct result you would think)
1. StBernards - Poor showing on the field in the latter half of the season brought out the true scum from within. We are all happy to see them relegated.
2. Old Haileybury - No culture in the club, a legacy of the Peter Nicholso "no mates just premierships" mind set. Bring back the Foo, the heart, soul, body hair and stomach of the club. Also glad to see them relegated. Chance of a double drop you would think.
3. Hawthorn Amateurs - Not quite sure why but there are plenty of rumblings on some threads about their ordinary bloke syndrome.
4. Ajax - All credit to Old Melburnians in the relegation battle. Glad to see this bunch of whining rabble back in C Grade where they will attempt to finish their business.
Equal 5th - Old Paradians and Therry Penola - Both clubs going downhill quicker than the Jamaican bob-sled team. Ordinary blokes coupled with ordinary bogan clubs nearby throwing the cheque book at their good players will ensure that the slide continues.
Special mention:
Banyule - The reptiles from the swamp.
