Sorry about that WRFL Fan. While we are on the spelling, its "respond" not "responded" and it would be "your alone" not "you alone". Anyway, you seem to know a bit about the Colts, are you inside there? Or just someone who likes to hang on the outside.

He sure is, and from what I hear training well. Sure you know he got player of the finals series last year, and will no doubt give it a good shake again this year (should the colts be there).

Sorry to pick both of you up on this one, but if we are to be correct it is "you're alone", as in you are. Whereas "your" is something belonging to you.:D
Sorry guys, could not control myself.

Just had a look through the clearances section of the WRFL web site and noticed a bloke named James Murphy has been cleared from Nth Brunnie to play for Coburg Districts this year. This kid is an absolute gun. He's only about 23 now. Has only ever played one full season of footy back in 2002 where he made a habit of standing on blokes shoulders. Played in the vafa u/19 rep team and kicked a big bag at a game where scouts were there. Rookie listed by the Bulldogs the following year but only lasted a few weeks into pre-season when he walked away from the club. Hasn't played since. Would be in the top three players at any 1st division club.

New to the forum, thought i would have some input..
I know a few people down sunshine way and rumour is they have picked up some bloke from the bush, james or jake or something like that, not sure of the surname. Rumour is has an engine that will see him going all day, can find the footy and has some pretty magical skills to go with. Apparently wiill slot in easy into the fast paced kangas midfeild and will ease the load off some of the others on the ball down there.

Yeah his name is Jake Trevaskis.... can play. He played in our league a few years ago now but moved on to play in the Goulburn Valley League the past two seasons. He won the Tongala B&F in 2004 which was a good effort. He is fit as a fiddle and will run all day. I think he will fit in perfectlyat the Kangas and will be a great player resting on the HF line. Look out for his quick slick hands.. he reads the ball well from stoppages and opens play right up with his quick handballs.
I have also seen him being used as a run with type of player and has shut down some really good opponents in the GV league... I guess you can call him the ideal utility type player.

Big wraps on this Trevaskis character, do we know why he decided to come to Melbourne, maybe Tongala going into the Murray FL presented too much travel. Does anyone here know Jake?

He lives in Melbourne and was a bit over the traveling...
He always wanted to go back home to play a few years of good footy and has now decided to come back to play in melb. He has a few mates at Sunshine in the Harrison brothers and Ash Comer, hence the reson he is there.

What's Ash Comer doing with his footy this year. From reports I have heard if this fine upstanding gentleman in the community, he is an absolutely gun player when he is on song. can anyone fill me in on how he is travelling on the track at the moment. I would have him at odds of about $9.50 for the medal if he is firing. From what I have heard of this guy, he is covered in hair, has had problems in the past with somesort of complaint relating to his buttocks in the past. But from all accounts, he can find the ball and uses it beautifully. Loves to kick a goal as well I'm told.

Well PT3001, we have picked up about 5 players from Rockbank and a few of them look the goods. They will help with depth thats for sure. Also have picked up Scratcher from Spotswood who will be very handy. We missed the finals last year, but i am sure we will be pushing to get in there this year and then who knows what will happen from there. We have a few under 18 players that are coming through, together with a few players that did not play last year due to either injuries or trips overseas that will play a big role this season.

I watched Ash train a few Friday nights ago... He is looking stronger than ever... he is tough as nails and at $9.50, i would take those odds any day of the week... I think after 3 or 4 rounds, he will tumble in to odds of about $3:75.

Picking up 5 players from Rockbank aint much they havent won a game for about 2 years and youse miss out on the best one anyone, only 3 under 18s coming through and players that went overseas werent setting the world on fire anyway. So do you think these players will carry you to a flag

Forgot to mention one more player who has a clearence pending.... this kid can play footy... country boy who will fire if he is cleared.
So who do you support in this league anyway PT... seems like you have been around a few clubs in your time.
I would like to have a wager on that we will make finals.

Are you hoping the the player from the Bush (Justin Millane) will sovle all your problems down there. Turlich and Davison big loses even if Zane only played 6 games. Players play ones down there that should be playing twos.

haha harrison and comer, ur kidding me... very good footballers, very hard at it and tough and have been good for sunshine over the years but not a chance in the world of a league medal, Sunshine have lost the Hill brothers back to the bush although neither set the world on fire...
Scratcher will dominate at the devils, he battled a little bit at spotty of late but will be a class above the others in division 2, and remember there 18s did win the b grade flag so they must have some good young kids...

Players from about 10th till the 22nd player would struggle at most other clubs in the ones in second divvy in the top 5 clubs (Albanvale,Braybrook etc ) thats why i cant see them improving on last year , agree scratcher will go well in second divvy only decent player to come to the club this year 5 guys from Rockbank 3 of them were playing in their seconds so there not going to improve the list and only about 3 under 18s come up big step from that to seniors.

So you are thinking of having a run in our league hey.. good stuff. Send me a private message and I will advise you where our ground is located and of our training dates.

Not sure if there is much to tell. I have a feeling you are a sunshine boy so if you have any questions dont be shy to ask at training tonight?
Agree with Dekka, West Footscray and Seddon are the two worst grounds in the league. Brooklyn before that theough probably took the cake for the leagues worst ground. That place was in shambles, a lot like the talent int heir footy team

Yeah spot on there, i once played in a junior interleague carnival where shipping containers were used as a temporary changerooms. Seriously the shipping container had more room in it that West's Visitors change rooms.
I thought the building was condemned, or maybe this was the social area. Whatever it is, something needs to happen.

if so west footscray and seddon would be the perfect places to play because when you run 400 hundreds at training the grounds are only about 300 metres around.
if you are worried about the biffo it also may suggest that you're sh.it frightened and you refuse to put your head over the ball. Any way good luck in finding a club in the west! :)

Dont read too much into it (rough perception) Kick it to me. It is my understanding that back in the 80's the WRFL was not a pleasant place to be. I think most leagues you go to these days have the occasional biff and bump, and the WRFL is no different.
You generally find that the teams that go the knuckle are no good or are loosing, so if you keep going for the pill you will win it and more often win the game.
Watching the DV gf last year, there were little spot fire fights all over the ground. I was amazed..... coming from the GV that sort of cowardness (hitting blokes with eyes for the pill) does not go on, but that does not mean that it is soft footy, blokes just have eyes for the pill and collisions occur.
Leagues like the eastern and amatuers are renowned as being soft, it is not soft, it clean and hard. Just because there are no blews or kinghitting people think it is soft, if that is the case the AFL is soft. Give me a break.

Are there any decent full forwards in the WRFL? Ive heard of a couple but want to know your thoughts and how they would go in the EDFL.i think aaron james played at albion last year and kicked plenty when he was actually not suspended.
Matthew cammileri is more of a CHF for hoppers but has a nice pair of hands.
but traditionally the WRFL has been void of star full forwards since daryl taylor left hoppers at the end of 2002. in fact i think he only had the one year there but he was a mighty spearhead with tremendous goal sense.
anyone know anything in regards to what josh linton is up to this year? i went down last year and saw him play a few serviceable games across half back... ended up winning the bf down at the roos. Also heard that he has struggled with o.p over preseason, which doesnt sound to good for a bloke with an already big frame.. what shape is he in? where is he playing?anyone know... for his sake lets hope he has been able to get on the track...

Their is a bloke at Port Colts that goes well, is always top three in the goal kicking if not winning it. Then you have your spastics like Pattie Davis, isnt Pattie the name you associate with nannas and granies? Also Carson goes well from Hoppers, him and Cammileri are a potent risk. Would almost rival Clarke and Brennan. Take Aaron James if want a full foward, but he'll have to start going to One bar instead of the Markei Club.
Can anyone tell me about a player name Chris (apples) Kelly. What his background as a player is and if he is any good?. Meant to have signed with West Coburg for good money

We all know that James can play but he has a few screws loose. I noticed Cammilleri & Carson from Hoppers kicked a few last year, as did Clarke from Port Colts. Heard Clarke goes missing in in the big games & nobody likes him much down there.
can anyone tell me if my little mate elton c stevens is playing again at port very good bloke hard nut aswell
Hopefully he isnt all he does is spend time on the rub down table. Also i dont think he is happy with all these new fowards coming to the club, after having a ripper season foward he'll probaly have to go to the back line with Webb, Toza, Bracken, De Briun and Taylor the stalwart of the club (lovely bloke never said a nasty thing in his life). Heard down there the coach loves the new bloke Boofa, even giving him big rapts at training(i think they work togeather, it must be a wharfie thing).
He sure is, and from what I hear training well. Sure you know he got player of the finals series last year, and will no doubt give it a good shake again this year (should the colts be there).
Big Bronco 27 love the name do you follow Colts or are just a Stevens fan?. How do you reckon the colts will go?. Have they got an ageing list or are they in their prime?.
We all know that James can play but he has a few screws loose. I noticed Cammilleri & Carson from Hoppers kicked a few last year, as did Clarke from Port Colts. Heard Clarke goes missing in in the big games & nobody likes him much down there.
My mate plays there and they are big raps on him. Just recently was commenting about his coaching and advice, played a ripper finals series last year, kicked five or six in the grannie and i think the same in the prelimerty stiff not to get best on due to Stevens. There's an old saying "Don't belive everything you hear". You are from the EDFL, can you give me your opinion on all these teams they give about Strathmore best side where is a bloke named Beasley, he doesn't even make the bench or emergency. If i remember back you had all the stats and were a big rap for him. Maybe he might even struggle to win the 2's B&F. When are the clearances cut off he should find out.

Give my opinion on all what teams?
As for Beasley, Ive never seen him play so I dont know if he is any good. Ive been told that he isnt quick but is a good player. Whoever wrote up the teams have obviously seen him play & dont think he will get a game in the 1's. From all reports, it will be tough for a lot to get a game at Strathmore this year.

thanx for your kind words I think stevens is the grerrua of wrfl young/old man and as of the ageing colts they bring a good mix to the team with the young being very fast and the old being very skillfull:D
Can anyone tell me about a player name Chris (apples) Kelly. What his background as a player is and if he is any good?. Meant to have signed with West Coburg for good money
Never heard of him, hasnt signed with west coburg or been at training!
Are there any decent full forwards in the WRFL? Ive heard of a couple but want to know your thoughts and how they would go in the EDFL.
Although the competition standard is lower, 2nd division seems to produce the Full Forwards who kick the big bags and kick close to the 100 goals a year.

I think the full forwards kick most of their goals against the bottom sides in div 2 dont they? Apparently the bottom sides are dreadful. I think that although there is a drop between the top sides & the bottom sides in div 1, it is much more even than div 2.

Div 2 have had some big goal kickers int eh past that usually run amok against some of the lesser talented teams. For longevity Lane who played at West Footscray last year is a good one. Always gets his fair share of goals. Rozenweig from gelorden would be the main goal kicking ace in Div 2. When fit he would be a force in div one, spent some time at werribee, kicks reular bags.
Jason Barry from North footscray had some big goal kicking years, had some big sngle game scores against dud sides. Shane Potter was another one at North who kicked 100 a couple of years ago.
Neilson had a good couple of years with whyndhamvale too, but has recently had a bad run of injuries.

Scallops why hide behind an alias reveal who u are coward.
There are not to many teams were a coach is liked by all and after taking over when colts were facing relagation and with no massive budget and to finish in the top 3 and to have a flag and very stiff to loose another its not a bad effort while also playing himself.
As not perfoming in big games kicked 7 against hoppers in prelim and the c 5 in the gf also u seem to no alot about beasley ask him when clarke kicked 6 on him in a quarter and a half,he actully saved his career h then went to midfield and got easy kicks without having to man up.

After watching last years grand final, I think in the end the difference was a good forward, while Cookie was good, he went missing in the 2nd half.
I think Pattie Davis had 1 kick-1 goal at a time when someone had to put their hand up in the 2nd half.
Well, someone did put their hand up, you watch the replay and you tell me who it was!!!!!!

I might be a bit biased cos I'm from S Heights, but surely Greto gets a mention. Just under 6 foot, no more than 75kg and has played FF for only 2 years for returns of 83 and 65, also spends at least 1 qtr a game on the ball..... at 23 yo theres plenty more to come.

Robbie goes alright but after a while think heights go abit one dimentional and try to kick to him every time.
Which isnt a bad thing usually makes things happen if he doesnt get the ball.

Also the blokes that have left the colts are just mercenaries and will never get back in the club while mick hargraves is pres he is after a bit of loyalty.
Rock07, dont take it so personally mate.Geez, you know a lot about Clarke. Is this you or his brother? As for kicking goals on Beasley, so he should. Clarke's a full forward and Beasley's an on-baller.
I agree about the team success. From all reports, Port Colts dont spend a lot of money & have a passionate club which makes it more impressive.
Are you talking about the guys that went to Strathmore in O'Neill, Lindsey & Hopes when talking about loyalty? Havent they played there for years & won multiple flags & stuck by the club through the hard years you previously mentioned? The rumour is that they are still owed money and are sick of the bullsh#t at the club, and Ive heard that from a number of people in the know. Can you confirm or deny this?
Spoke to a guy from yarraville and he said they are travelling pretty well at this stage, picked up a few nth sunshine guys, along with many others and are pushing for finals they feel... find this hard to believe considering they got smashed a few times last year, would need to pick up some real guns to be competitive with the top 5 or 7...
Camillieri is a gun, doesnt kick many goals but is the best CHF by a mile...
as for James, hes ur typical full forward but caused problems in that albion became one dimensional and only kicked to him, so if u shut out james they have no other avenues to goals... Clarke is a superstar in this league, loves to mouth and fight but can back it up, always kicks goals...
Theres no doubt Colts will be up there, lots of good young kids in Bonnett, Massis, Twomey and the like, so will be competitive for a while yet...
Rumour has it St Albans might really struggle, no Swazdiak, Antonowicz, Miccalizzi, Mcferran... prob all in there top 8 players...

Heath Buck who played full-forward for the Hammerheads the year Potter kicked 100, kicked over 80 for memory and you wouldn't even calssify him as full-forward.
He is only 6ft and more of a flanker so the full-backs in Division 2 are not the strongest of players.

Scallops, you are correct in saying the the 3 above mentioned players have played at Colts for years, however in relation to them putting up with the bull******** at the club, it was one of them that caused it, hitting a life member, and 70 yo man at that. And as for the money, big deal, when you are playing with your life long mates, you should be playing for love and loyalty - not $$$.
Oh, and if you know anyone at Strathmore, tell them to keep their pensioners away on game days, or nasty rumors about bull******** at their club might spread.

It's Hoath not Hopes, so how good is your info?. As for multiple flags there's been one. Lindsay has been going to leave ever other year and has left and came back before, hopefully it happends again as with all of them they are all welcome. Linsday left for alot more money and how can you blue with that, sad but good on him, the challange of a new harder league will do him better, and im sure he'll kill that leauge has he has in every other. Josh was stale at the colts he didnt look like he was enjoying it much in the end he played his whole career there, the change will do him better i think, also he will star in that league. As for HOATH as all you edfl blokes keep calling him Hopes, he unfortunatly miss lead the colts and told them was playing with them still but had signed with Strathmore already, so you tell me whos in the right there. He then said he was playing for them if he played and that he hadn't trained there, but some spotted him training there which was a slap in the face as he was held high in respect and still is , but that hurts.
So when you speak to your people in the KNOW get the whole story before you post things about clubs and try to give them a bad name as with players as well.

Lindsay and Hoath had a massive say in the result of that Grand Final, but also did you and everyone else that wore a colts jumper that day. I think this negativite needs to stop there is no winner(on both sides) the club and its supporters and players, past and present are the ones that suffer. Whats done is done. Players leave clubs all the time, but clubs still contuine to operate, players that leave also find out what they had once they leave and then come back, so all you can do is wish them well and hope they come back, then work hard to replace them(as we have done our best to) and get on with it , all the while keeping your clubs good name in tack. So people like SCALLOPS before you go around starting trouble make sure your info is correct because you are starting uncessary trouble. Stay in your EDFL thread and start your trouble there. He always will, playing wide on a big ground, being that fit helps too. He will have to be hard and strong, and hope his fit team follows because fittness will only get you so far. Not many tough footballers down in the far west, Taylor one of few and he's meant to be struggling, can't wait untill they match up on Parkside and Colts will be good viewing.
