Dont know about Lindsay coming back but i know the colts are not far off signing an out n out gun by the name of Craig Hardie he played a few games at the colts in about 2002 and used to burn the track down at training.
Its about time some legitimate gossip starts to filter through....have heard there is also a couple of 6' 3" blokes also queing up??.

Heard he is on the outter anyway eyes....too lazy for he's own good they tell me.
First big name recruit for the year could go to Sunshine, heard Scott Mcgoldrick is considering a move closer to home?
Whilst on the Kanga's , is there a chance of anyone following Alan Williams to Albanvale?? Grainger and Frost could be two who may make the journey back to their juinor club. Maybe even Skut could think of prolonging he's career at the Cobra's. Have heard "willy" has a couple of boys lined up.

speculator u do seem to know quite a bit. have heard we are a chance for McGoldrick but have heard that for a couple of years so far. Ace has got the job at Albanvale, and good luck to him cos hes a top bloke. Im sure he will get the job done, apparently they have a good young side down there. Was trying to think the other day which players might leave, but really couldn't come up with many. Grainger would be a more than handy 2nd division footballer but i think hes probably too good for that level, and he enjoys his time down at Sunshine. Frost wont leave, he had a top year and is really rated down there, and just bought a house around the corner. Maybe a guy like big Sono, who was up there in the A reserve league best and fairest... he would be very valuable in 2nd division.
There has been a few changing on the coaching panel down at Sunshine, with Piza our fitness coach giving it up... but expect a big name signing to look after fitness and also assistant coach. Havent heard any other names we may have signed, and not too sure about a few guys such as Stenna and Foley.

Great get there for the kangas as scotty is a quality player and something that will help you guys out alot, although i don't know him well heard he is a quality fella and as colts also chased him along with hoppers,it's great to see him go to the kangas for reasons other than money as would have been the case if he went to hoppers.
At colts it looks as though we will pick up 4 quality players and maybe another top midfielder and loose maybe 1

if this is true it is a massive signing for sunshine, scotty has been very loyal to yarraville over the years and i'm sure he would very keen for some success and would have been impressed with what sunshine has to offer over the next few years, will be a strong midfield down there next year just need another key forward in my opinion but good to see some decent football gossip again:thumbsu:

the decision will be based on whether i even want to play footy. at the moment i dont. if it continues i may just return to the districts where i grew up and play with my school mates.
hopefully that answers some questions for you and the likes of rock07, wrflfan and bronco27

I know Ash Craig has also left St Albans - In relation to Tonna - he doesn't know what he is doing at the moment - Having been back after 12 months in England - Tonna is still unsure as to where he will be playing - he has spoken to a few clubs in the Geelong comps - but worried about the travel. It would be hardfor him to go elsewhere seeing that his family has a very strong connection with St Albans, his dad being Secretary for 20 years - so don't think he would go anywhere within the wrfl. But he is a good player and a good bloke too.

Thats one of the more silly things you have said on here mate. Hes got a job to do, and thats to win a flag in Div 2. If that means taking players from sunshine hes going to try and do it. Its not about ethics or respect, its about winning games of footy. That said, there wouldnt be too many who would leave... maybe a couple of fringe players for a bit of coin.

Tonna is a little weary of playing in the wrfl after his last game here when he got king hit behind play and the lack of real action by tribunal.
D. Fitzpatrick has trained both days this week and organised races day last weekend so unsure on that one
Both Dawson and Arena are contracted players so it is really up to the club were they play. both however along with a few others need to review there reasons for playing at the club.
club has not spoken to swadiak.
Billy is really happy at the moment with the start to new season and the direction of the club.

as has always been the case the club will give plenty of opportunitys to the young blokes coming through the juniors.

Just want to keep the bf world on how things are going off season at our club [port colts],and how we are looking at history in our club this year and are aiming for three, yes THREE premierships in a row.
Well at this stage it looks as though we will keep all of last years senior squad although mcbroom mite be still over seas.Recruiting has gone very well to the extent we have had to say to a few handy players thanx but know thanx as our budget and our loyalty to the players we already have.
So far we have signed
ROBBIE WITTMAR 6ft '4 chf and heard was a dominate player in edfl few yrs ago didn't play last year.Looks very promising, big boy
WES KESTEL 6ft 2' key backmen, played over 100 games for swan districts and played efl last year for mitcham, very good player will dominate the wrfl.
and the following are very close ro signing
GUY CHISSNAL onballer/hback,from corowa in the OVENS and MURRY former best and fairest winner and premiership player up there ,he is very fit and has great skills and also loves the hard stuff, will be a great asset.
DAVE MCGREGOR medium fwd who kicked over 60 last year for resevoir in the dvfl second div,was resevoirs captain has a family linked to our club and also mates with a few of the boys will also fit in well[as long as he h/balls to me]
All very handy and will add real depth to an alredy strong list and we are also hopefull that JOHN LINDSAY will be back if things don't work out for him due to work committments he will be back in the red and blue.
Training will start on the 8th of JAN as it has the last 3 years, make sure the boys are nice and fresh ready for the long season ahead and aim for HISTORY

Has anyone heard about the issues at Parkside - seems that they had their AGM last week and only 10 people turned up - the 10 that were there think the only option they have is to fold - due to players leaving - committee having threats against them by their own players and now not wanting to be involved. Another AGM has been called for near the end of the month. If they get enough - they will then have to decide where the club is heading... If not the club is destined to fold.
The other interesting thing is that Tunzi and John Sharpe have offered to coach the club and get it back on it's feet. Talk about Parkside thumbing their nose at the WRFL Sharpe already has a 10 year ban hanging over his head and after the finals incident does he think that the league will just re- register him???? Lets see how strong the league will be here.....

You would hope the players would turn up - everyone needs to put their hand up these days and not just leave it up to the usual few as that's when people burn out...it takes a lot to run a footy club and it's a group effort, it's about time people started realising that and if you are not happy with the way your club is run - get on the friggen board - don't sit back and pot people and say you're not happy about this and that..it will be an absolute tragedy if Parkside fold...it's up to the supporters and current players to get it together.

Lets set the record straight the player that hit Tonna was helping out a much smaller player than Tonna, which Tonna was chasing after, that was unaware of him coming after him with his hand in a fist ready to hit the smaller player and in return the player that hit Tonna was just protecting his smaller teammate and recived 6 weeks for it and dont worry Tonna handed out his own medicene that day. Would be absolute shame if Parkside left the WRFL has been held up by Hoppers, Port Melb Colts, Spottswood, St Albans and Parkside for a long time and if one leaves it will kill the standard and after the Seddon incident it makes the league look terrible. Just a division 2 no body mate. I played at colts in under 18s in 1999, was rubbish, but played with winters, debryuen, and bouchard - we were crap that year, purely cause debruyen and boyd played reserves and twomey and russo played 16s, our full team stretched the eventual premiers in our home and away match despite only winning 5 games or so for the year.
Like to keep in touch because the best players from my junior club in keenan, wells, mullen, hartshorne etc left for a better brand of football, cant blame them really.
That should answer the question for your though ;)
Cheers mate, you named some handy footballers there l forgot about Russo was a hard and handy footballer had bad groins at an early age, where is playing now? How come you left the Colts, and why dont you come back?

i was at the game and i have watched the tape of the incident quite a few times and your version is way of mark.
Tonna was not handing out his own medicene and was not anywhere near another player he was looking straight up the ground after the ball was cleared when he was king hit from behind.
he was also not involved in a another incident as he was as assisted from the ground by the trainers straight after being hit.(tape shows this too)
i dont really care what your version of it is though becouse everybody believes what we want to and will always stand by there own and i could not be bothered trying to change your oppionion
The point i was trying to make was that the 6 weeks was nowhere near what the incident was worth and this and other tribunal decisions is what makes our comp poorer than others.

It was a Braybrook player that hit Tonna wasnt it, if correct think the league had taken this players permit before, just showing how weak the league is given him his permit back in the first place, after taken it off him.

he was also not involved in a another incident as he was as assisted from the ground by the trainers straight after being hit.(tape shows this too)
i dont really care what your version of it is though becouse everybody believes what we want to and will always stand by there own and i could not be bothered trying to change your oppionion
The point i was trying to make was that the 6 weeks was nowhere near what the incident was worth and this and other tribunal decisions is what makes our comp poorer than others.please lets not make out that tonna was not involed in the dust up that happen that day he was right in the middle of it how do I know this because I was standing next to him when he got hit.how many weeks do you think the player should have got for striking lets remember it was round 14 so six weeks ment the rest of the home & away season plus two finals which could of been the rest of the year.it was unforegenet the injury he got and I dont wish that on anyone but lets not forget the colts bloke who cop a broken nose that day and how many reports was there from stalbans so lets get over the past if tonna doesnt want to play footy because of the tribunal maybe the big sook should take up lawn bowls I've herd there tribunal is a lot harder on people for strikeing.

It was a Braybrook player that hit Tonna wasnt it, if correct think the league had taken this players permit before, just showing how weak the league is given him his permit back in the first place, after taken it off him.
The braybrook player you are talking about hit c. price in 2002 elimenation final played again after 12 months off and did the same thing in div2

well this is my oppinion but i think incidents like this should get a min of 12months. (2nd time life)
The player who done this however had a very good record and this was out of charactor so i would have given him half of this and suspended the rest.
(the player who was hit, was put out for the rest of the season.)
i hear he might even play with you again this year.
i hope he does because he is a great player to watch and it lifts the standard of our comp.
as for tonna being a big sook i dont think so.
there is a long list of quility players that will not play in our comp for the same reasons.
i seem to remember a few clubs at the end of this season thinking about leaving for the same reasons.
our tribunal needs to get tougher (even on our players) for our comp to get better.

I certainly dont condone the incident but I would agree with WRFLFans version befpre yours. You must have watched the video through rose coloured glassess. The actual piont of contact is not shown ( although it was obvious) If the league were fair dinkum there could have been a couple of further reports taken from the footage. To say Tonna was the inocent party stetches things a little. Enough said , this has been done and dusted many times before, move on champ.

fair enough obe1 this is all old news and yes we all were the same glasses.
i was more trying the make the point of the tribunal/league not being strong enough.maybe the clubs should all get together and demand it

True about the tribunal it is very inconstant, but if you read the EDFL and DVFL which are meant to be some of the elite leagues in our state, youll notice they are always bagging and abusing there tribunal systems. What needs to happen to improve it they brought in an independent tribunal and they complain they have no idea about footy where do you win. l heard from one person on the tribunal that a players penalty that was to be handed down and they had discussed his sentence one thought 10 weeks, one thought 4 weeks and the other thought a reprimand , they settled on 2 weeks so where does the logic for one the 3 different views and then the verdict come from.
And Tonna was chasing a player(god forbid) Bronco-27 and myself were in the middle of it

this is just my idea I think the wrfl need to espan from the west suberbs and move towards the whole westen districk meaning geting the best sides from the melton area gisboune and maybe as far as ballarat and bendigo I know this would mean alot of traveling on a satday but I cant see from the bottom half of first div all any teams from the second div can get the wrfl back up there with the comps like the dvfl or edl.because int the last ten years I've played in this comp the premiers has come from the same teams.hoppers,colts,parkside,spotswood,stalbans.maybe keep sunshine and albion and then go out and poach these other clubs to join our comp and have three divs that span across the west and get rid of the likes of brunswick, westen magpies who do the comp more harm then good.I know this is a harsh on teams like yarraville and altona who are working to get there teams back up there with the best but these two clubs are around three to four years away to be any threat to the flag and by that time there might not be a wrfl.before anyone on here starts giving me a spay for my post lets hear your ideas on how we can make our comp better.

yes all leauges complain about there tribunal our leauge laughs at it becouse of how soft it is
i think the logic comes from the leauge directives, (there is none)
some form of set penaltys maybe, might be the solution.
but they do need a clear understanding of what is not acceptable in our comp
i also think it needs debate from clubs on what we want our tribunal to be.
as for chasing a player, lets agree to disagree and move on

the problem i see is why would other clubs want to come to our comp we need to clean up our image get the respect from the outside,

Our comp is one of the only ones that has set penalties, when you get reported the umps can offer you weeks that have been set out by the league but on allot of occasions they say they want to go to the tribunal and the players ends up getting off, sometimes the umps love the tribunal attention.
Also on Bronco27 views l agree with most but every league has cellar dwellers that hang around the bottom half and sometimes finish just in the top half and go out in the first final but the clubs have history like Albion and until this year Sunshine. Sunshine were the team that always just missed or should have made it only due to a few matches during the year missed out until this year, and now that they have bleed juniors and recruited right and got a coach who is dedicated they will be a force for a lot of years to come and who knows could win a flag. So you need those teams its just that some take longer than others, Altona were a force not long ago and Glenorden have been a force in Div 2 for a while so they have the right structure in place and its a growing suburb. Yarraville as well were a strong force only 5-6 years ago, you need to remember the Colts and Hoppers only came up to Div 1 in the late late 80's or early 90's so anything can happen, the WRFL is slowly getting better the umps are very strict out there on some infringement rules and rough stuff to the point were ive heard players say this is the WRFL let it go a bit. The hard tougher stuff is what this league has been built on for years and when you speak to people in other leagues they refer to the toughness of the comp not cowardliness its been outdated that sh it, and all leagues have incidents no comp is past a stupid incident once in a while.
I think the WRFL is improving and like Bronco27 said we need to be more stringent on who is allowed in the comp. It makes me laugh to think that our comp is in the Western part of Victoria commonly know to have a lot of poorer areas than say EDFL or DVFL or EFL but we still have the highest club fees and have to buy all our canteen and jumpers off who the league tells us too its a small dictatorship.

G.Daley also played reserves that year when he could have played 18s
Any clues to who you are mate??? i captained the 18s that year and you already named me.
Why dont you come do a pre season at the colts, what club you at now?

Totally true and we have been punished equally, but no club could honestly stand there and say that if that happened to them they wouldn't react in the same way...... I can guarentee every club would have done the same. Unfortunatley with Parkside the incidents that occured that we know about and the ones that they have kept low key have sent the supporters packing. Their committee have had threatening phone calls from their own players to their homes and mobiles - how crazy is that, players have threatened committee memebers - coaches getting touched up, globally guys just making dills of themselves and people who volunteer are sick of it. Don't blame they either, we as vounteers fo it for the love of the game and the club...

that is the rumour doing the rounds surely they wont fold, they have been a very powerful club in this competition over a long period of time with many great rivalries it would be a shame to see them extinct, would be a slap in the face to our league aswell

Story goes that they will become a junior club only. Thus, either leaving us with the dreaded bye, or Deer Park joining our ranks. Couldn't see that happening though as it wouldn't be real fair on the Lions regarding recruitment etc..

Would hate to see parkside fold as they have been one of our great rivarls, and have been a quality team for along time and even played finals this year.
In saying that though would love to play against deer park even though we would flog them by 30 goals,it would be interesting to see if their captain continued on and weather he would line up against the colts,im tipping he wouldn't especially at murphy's not the bravest man on the field, but wrflfan would be happy to see him running around.

Well yarraville have merged with seddon and have juniors that they are developing in that region and also have auskick, altona also have two young senior sides with a full complement of juniors and 9 players currently training with the Western Jets, these are exactly the two teams that we will need in this comp for the years to come. it's not always about the present it's about building for the future of this comp.

Its as hard as a rock! Im sure they will work something out. Any recruiting news? Haven't heard much from down at Sunshine, a few meetings here and there but nothing final. Swanees were you at the AGM last week that only had 10 there - the reports we are getting are from people at the meeting.... and jim lee had already resigned twice throughout the year so not sure what is happening. But without a coach - the sir brothers have signed at Sydenham hillside or taylors lakes - other major players actively looking elsewhere - what is the club going to do... This is where the players that caused a lot of the disharmony between themselves should stand up and be counted not just move on cause it is easier!!

You speak very highly of Chris Gatt, from the times ive meet him can say nothing bad about him.
Did a good job at Nth Sunshine first two years, then turmoil hit club half way through thrid year when half the players got up and walked out and heard was injured most of last year. From what ive seen and heard can play when full fit. Dont know about off field but on field though would be a asset for Sunshine.

Gatty only went to Yarraville after North Sunshine got relegated. And went to Ass. Coach. Don't think it is a move backwards personally. Just shows that people can see potential at the club I would suggest. If he is able to play ones all well and good. If not it puts pressure up from the twos. There can never be too much depth at a club. Not in a coaching capacity either, just to play

From what I heard Gatty left North Sunshine during the year of which they got relegated partly because of money owing to him and the mentality of the people running the place. When fit though can be a real asset to any team. Not sure of why he left Sunshine in the first place hopefully not bad terms because Sunshine don't want anyone to rock the boat.

CABS,just ley me say that we recruit players that want to play with us and for that reason we don't offer big money we offer success,so every player on the list sacrafices a littlr to gain alot.I will give a couple of examples, caddy for one has been offered hug amounts to play everywhere else and at the colts its probably less than half [so much for him wanting to chase the dollar as some goose put on here, quality person quality player],but he enjoys the club and the success and if he lived closer he would be at the club for life.
Webby has also been offered alot to play elsewhere but mateship means more to him and the success of the club,so it all goes down to the type of PERSON you recruit and lastly our only signing so far ROBBIE WITTMAR is also playing for a third of what st.albans offered him so already we know we have a person that wants to play with us.
Now with hoath and lindsay, have heard hoath could be off to hoppers of all places witch is a slap in the face to our club but this guy sees footy as a job and thats it so good luck to him and lindsay is a huge chance to come back if not at strathmore due to work committments,so with him and wittmar we are looking strong for a three peat.

We do expect one of the two former players to return, neither player left on bad terms ,contrary to other opinions. One has been linked to Hoppers which if true, would virtually end he's career.
Budget is the same as the previous year and like it has been posted on previous posts it is not even close to that of Hoppers. Would think it is on par with yours? Build a good culture and quality players will come for the right reasons.
As for Parkside...it is about time Zavalas stood up and led from the front in regards to coaching. He is much respected and would have a resonable pool of recruits to draw from , enabling Parks to climb back from their current slump.
People wonder how things work so well between us.......we are not the same person...two posts outlining the same thing within a minute from one end of melb to the other.......could only happen at the colts....like we said build a culture and the rest is history.:thumbsu:

What sort of comment is that ? "......One has been linked to Hoppers which if true, would virtually end he's career." Little wonder the league needs to toughen up its discipline and tribunal process if it has a co-coach putting this tribe out and about ....or did I mis-intepret your words ?
