New to this site been reading and i think Les Taylor will win the priest medal saw him in a few games last year and he was inspirational plays his best football in the back line and he will be right up there.
well nice name mastersplinter I think Les taylor best years are beyond him and with the very good list down at colts many diffent players steping up every week I will be surprise if the priest madal will come from the colts but you never know.will be good to see how the colts go on the weekend against albion in there first hit out since the grand final.

there playing at colts murphy reserve I think it's a 12:00 start playing 6 qtrs because of still numbers commited to cricket finals.

I still think beasley will be to slow for that comp its a fair list they have down there. Big mouth maybe mistaken for cofiendence and competiveness lindsay will always back it up he gets a heavy tag every week even when colts were in a unloseable position in 4th quarters theyd still tag him
beaza is a freak ! as talented as you can get..bit loose in the head, but footy wise, top player... he will dominate in the outside style of play the edfl have. what for a wet day. he was the best wet weather player in the wrfl...maybe with steve zavalas...

yeah 6 qtr match.. be intresting since albion havent picked up much.. barker is out for a bit with a knee injury... albion have quality players but just not when they are in the same team as each other

I cant recall 8888 saying where was from. If your all mates, why didnt you all do something about stopping a MATE like Beasley getting shown the door after playing in a flag the year before against a team that suppose to go up and down, go to sleep mate you need it.
im close with a few hoppers boys and they arent as close as they make out.. the young guys get fed up with all the recruits and not getting a gig in the ones

bit back from sunshines praccy last night v Gisborne, did not hear official score but sunshine w2ould have got up by around 4 goals. sunshine had good players out and i am sure gisborne were int he same boat, sunshine opverall probably had 15 more players which gave us the extra legs in a 6 quarter match.
Good signs were:
Harrison was fit and looking sharp
Russ Douglas got plenty of it in the guts (4th in Hampden League B & F last year)
Stenhouse (sanfl- Central districs) presented well, bit limited though due to mediocre delivery to him
Big adrian ??? from avondale heights signed through the week and played well, big unit
Comer was stron, x linton showed promise after a year off, j linton did well and will be better for the run.
Benny davis was sharp, Bright (Rockester- GV) battled hard on good oposition as a key defender.
OVerall it was a bit scrappy as you would expect from first hit out, but generally there were some good signs from the kangaroos.
i happened to pop past the whitten oval...
sunshine looked slow against gisborne but gee they were hard at it...
Rick martin showed a bit in the back line. Nathan richardson was pretty elusive on a wing /flank. Good to see j crfoft back firing.
Few outs..anyone know where ackas was? couldnt see joel harrison. um de santa wasnt about..those guys are big losses if they are out for a bit...harro for hardness ackas leadership and that desanta is a freak. possibly the freakiest in the league...

could anyone give me some info from these division one clubs
spotswood
hoppers
parks
st.albans
albion
port colts
anything would be great but who's gone from these clubs and who are the clubs recruits
Spotty have lost a few, but apparently they have a few junior guns that will step up.
hoppers lost a few but got a few in return..few 2s have left so depth is iffy..
parkside have got condos back from werribee. will fight out the 5th spot. thats from a committee man down there
stalbans will rely on the kids.. they will go great guns but...top 3
albion have some injury worries early.. barker knee, hewat hammy, richards foot probs, james fat...

hmm i have to agree, sunshine are the best club for functions... that club goes off every saturday night without fail.. and ur right imagine if they won a flag, it would be a party for weeks... they can always hope!
Colts will be extremely hard to beat, Mcnaulty is a machine... doubt whether clarke can kick 100, exspecially on their tiny home ground...
Altona i think will struggle, havent heard much except they got some of their juniors back now that they're in A grade...
That buck guy u mention, he did play for the Hammerheads and he wasnt too bad, full forward who kicked there goals every week, probably a little bit old and over it now but would be smart and know where the goals are.
And james well the debate still rages as to whether he really is worth the money you pay him, guarenteed to kick you 70 or 80 goals a year but apparently isnt the best team man, and can lead to a team being one dimensional as albion was this year...
yeah apparently the albion fellas dont mind a drink at sunshine yc...hey form, we should all head down there one night and root all there women!! haha sorry travvy43

well good info there mate over the 6 quarters colts won by 25 points but the way the line ups were with both sides having up to 12 senior players out and both sides using alot of young kids but right about clarke he was woefull and looks like he should have retired after last year but the colts will still go well

I heard from a mate who works with an albion captain that albion got beat. bit of an average standard game from reports
Looks as though the colts will miss the football supply from josh o'neill and jl who have moved on this year. Clarke will def be one to miss the constant supply of lace out football from these 2 hard working midfielders. Hard 2 see colts backing up wit a premiership this year but should be there abouts. Word has it Bryce Critch is set 4 a big year wit the colts. Anyone wish to comment.
mad hoppers fan u seem like the type of player that when the team does competive work u go off the track or if u get tackled hard in a game u cant handle it or maybe u just have a biggger opinion of your ability than the your peers but either way i know would sleep with the light on.........BOO!!!!

Of course these two are hard to replace especialy josh being a great kick when he got it and with lindsay's constant long bombs but im sure we have the players to step up but if people want to judge on one preformance go ahead.I can recall a pre season game 3 or 4 yrs ago when albion give the colts a touch up and the colts went on to finish on top and albion failed to make the top 5 so please stop talking kak and making judgements on a six quarter practice match with both teams missing alot of senior players

clarke is that far gone mate the club sacked him from being captain thank god always has got to much to say, also great to see that a champion of the cub and 3 time premiership player in Brett Jacobs named as sole captain he will be terrific in this role and looks in the best form of his career.Hope the colts go well for him and all the loyaltyhe has shown.
Also the reason he got dragged was his big beak got in the way again and was broken surely he will get a nose job soon

Was briefly mentioned earlier, Sunshine touched up Deer Park (so we should have) by 20 goals in three quarters.
In the seniors there were 7 out..... Harrison, Comer, Millar, Douglas, Big adrian, Acerman and one other, all quality players.
Good signs for the kangaroos was Darren Stenhouse taking evrything in sight and benny davis looking fresh as a daisy.
Acerman hopeful of playing in praccy match next week and be ready for spotty round one.
Cheers

it could be the bloke who is constantly injured but has finally been able to get a full pre season out and showing some pretty decent form? maybe its a young gun that people are genuinely excited about? could be an old gun whos deadset flying?
we know jack frost down at hoppers is looking the goods, critch down at port is going well too...

Kodak22
21 Mar 2006, 15:59
Dropped by Sunshines match against Deer Park the other day, and sunshine won well as expected, but were very impressive. Had a few out with santa and acreman on the sidelines, and im sure there were more. Deer Park looked to have a few guys on the sidelines, they would want to because they were horrible. Travvy if you are who i think you are you attack the ball very nicely, and nice early goal too. Not many standouts, one small guy who played earlier dominated, number 9, great skills, maybe only a bit small but just kept finding it. Is that the end of your practice matches? i enjoy watching you guys play, would love for Sunshine to finally do well and make the finals. Is that a chance this year? Havent heard anything about Altona, maybe the darkhorse this year? Local paper has a big article on Albion, with the superstar coach McGoldrick talking himself and his team up yet again, does this sound familiar?
Brannan was good in the finals but didnt do much all year, he definently wont be a standout this year, just a contributor in a talented side.

well mate when it comes to footy and him he always seems to be in the swing of it and mate the way he puts his body on the line and the knocks he recieves the boy should be in a wheelchair and i promise you that in one game he will take an absolute hanger over a big pack of players in front of a big crowd somewhere he loves the big games and always stepped up for northcote park when needed and dont let him bludge on a half back flank cause he is always gunna get the ball due to the fact he is a very smart player but after all the years i have watched he dominates teams when on the ball pushing forward cause he always kicks goals also can kick a ball a country mile but after saying all this i hope he stays out the niteclubs fridays and gets serious about it and you will have a best and fairest in the comp but if he does what he did last year he will be great in games and go missing in others

You don't like those sort of injuries happening to anyone, especially in the pre season. Hopefully it doesn't turn out too bad and he only needs a cleanup instead of a full reco.

Kodak good to hear you liked the way sunshine plays, although it was pretty much all one way traffic. Have another praccy match this week at sunshine v a lower grade ammos side, two games, reserves starting at 12.
Glad you liked the early goal.
Number 9, this was a kid called quinn, up from the under 18's, was a western jet i think and was trainign with werribee, got cut (apparantley told too small, as you say) and will now be with the kangaroos. I agree, he looked good, polished skills and just found the pill.

I did ok and will be starting at 2 in the ones i would think.

wasnt the greatest game to watch, i agree with travvy and kodak. Just a question to kodak, apart from trevaskis in the guts and quinn in the earlier part of the match, didnt u think there were some real positive signs from stenhouse and others? i popped by and was impressed with stenhouse's attack on the footy and also his hands. Took some really strong contested grabs but it must be said he was looked after with the delivery a lot more than in the first praccy against gisborne. Will be a very handy string to the kangaroos bow, will provide a tall forward option and definitely straighten the kangas up. Thought the big fella who started in the ruck was impressive too, so i dont totally agree with all your comments kodak.
Do agree that it was a very nice early goal by trevaskis tho... He looked sharp all day and will slot in nicely into the kangaroos onball brigade..

McGoldrick would want to be talkin the Cats up as they have only just been getting double figures on the track apparently. Was on holidays and was speaking to one of the lads from down there. Dell hasnt been spotted since before christmas, Barker knee out for at least 6, James still not showing up for a change. And the boys aren't spruiking like every other year. Could be an interesting year down at the cattery.

well mate when it comes to footy and him he always seems to be in the swing of it and mate the way he puts his body on the line and the knocks he recieves the boy should be in a wheelchair and i promise you that in one game he will take an absolute hanger over a big pack of players in front of a big crowd somewhere he loves the big games and always stepped up for northcote park when needed and dont let him bludge on a half back flank cause he is always gunna get the ball due to the fact he is a very smart player but after all the years i have watched he dominates teams when on the ball pushing forward cause he always kicks goals also can kick a ball a country mile but after saying all this i hope he stays out the niteclubs fridays and gets serious about it and you will have a best and fairest in the comp but if he does what he did last year he will be great in games and go missing in others
Big fella, don't be afraid to use a full stop or a comma here or there. I almost passed out trying to read all that in one breath!

Note to WRFL Fan: Sunshine v Port Colts- Rd 8, June 3 at colts.
The transfers list has again been updated on wrfl.asn
Seddon have been active with a few more which they needed. Some of the big names to put in clearances to WRFL clubs include Condos to Parkside, Venner to hoppers and Kane Cooper to the colts.
Sunsine's three main clearances that were yet to receive confirmation were stamped approved:
Adriano Mastropasqua (ruckman)- From Avondale Heights (EDFL): big fella with a great set of hands, good tap work and good ground skills for a bloke his size.
Russell Douglas (onballer)- From South Warrnambool (HFL), nippy solid onballer with polished skills, as previously mentioned finsihed 4th in the league B&F last year (Hampden League).
Adam Bright (key defender)- From Rochester (GVL), young stringy defender with good skills, has also played a back up ruck role for rochester over the last season or so.

Gents, I have been enjoying the banter on this site and finally decided to stick my bib in. Whilst I am enthralled at the goings on in Div 1 I would like to hear more about what's happening in Div 2 as those clubs also pay their membership to be involved in this league and are no less passionate than yourselves about their teams. And yes I agree there are some very mediocre teams in Div 2 but I must say the top 4 or so all aspire to get their club to your lofty Div 1 heights by winning the flag (note Altona - we only want to win it once before we go up!) So to start the ball rolling I have put my predictions of the ladder for 2006 going on recent form and player movements to and from each club.
1. Glenordan
2. West Footscray
3. Albanvale
4. Coburg
5. Deer Park
6. North Sunshine
7. Sunshine Heights
8. Wyndhamvale
9. Braybrook
10. Nth Footscray
11. Brunswick Power
12. Western Magpies
Hoping to stimulate some debate with other Div 2 followers.
I did ok and will be starting at 2 in the ones i would think.

travy i think sunshine will have a great year this year, after being very competitive for the last couple of years and just missing out ,im predicting a top 3 finish. Not to sure if u can go all the way, not enough finals experience with all the young guys u have but the future looks good.
The reason for my prediction is the addition of stenhouse and douglas it seems like both will really put the icing on the cake , a key forward and another good onballer to help out acreman, watch out wrfl here come scumshine, sorry i mean sunshine go kangas

Crapper, big call putting Brunswick on top of the Magpies..... That means they will have to finally win a game... Good luck to them.. Hate to admit it, but looks like Glenordan all the way..... $$$$. Be wary of the team you have at 7.... quietly confident this year!!
*what about Gladstone Park and Central Altona?

just wondering how port went on saturday and how did cooper go didnt see him out just wondering if he is still alive
glenordan played werribee centrlas (gdfl) in a practice match yesterday at glenordan with basically a full strength team. by all reports it was a pretty good game of football with centrals too strong in the end winning by 7 goals.
apparently the young lad in the ruck nathan lovell absolutely dominated and glenordan appear to have plenty of speedy players and a couple of handy recruits.

albion i won the game probably by about 5 goals colts had 10 senior players out albion about 5 senior players missing.
In the first half it was pretty even then albion had it a bit more in the last half and finished well.
Kane played ok showed glimpses of what he will do once fit and gains a bit of touch and match practice

Sorry Mudflap I was racking my brains and without the aid of a draw couldn't remember them!. I would put Gladdy Park in at 11 and Centrals in at 12 and move the other two down. Rumour has it that Heights will lose a number of players over to the World Cup on Holiday in Germany in June. Can this be confirmed?

Come on champ. How much can you seriously read into practice matches. How would you know what the coach is trying to achieve when clubs play their practice matches. It's no could winning practice matches then not performing in the season proper. Look at Carlton last year. I suppose you sing your teams song after a practice match aswell.
