Collingwood Keep Quiet In Trade Week (http://collingwood.rivals.net/default.asp?sid=1515&p=2&stid=8192111)
By Pies Premiers
After every high profiled player out of contract was rumoured "to be leaving" in trade week, few changed clubs. Spider Everitt was a big named player that was rumoured to be coming to Collingwood. St Kilda wanted Prestigiacomo, and our first 3 draft picks. This years draft is the best in its history. I’m glad we kept our picks and presti, as much as we need a ruckman, we did the right thing. Everitt will remain a saint for 2002.
Heath Black was another player that was supposedly sign sealed and delivered to be at Victoria park. He met with Mick Malthouse and Neil Balme, everything seemed set to go ahead, until his manager told Collingwood they were too professional. The deal fell through, and subsequently, Heath becomes a saint for 2002.
Joe Misiti was extremely close to singing with Collingwood. The deal was minutes away from being sealed as time run out. Collingwood asked for the 2pm deadline to be extended, the AFL refused.
Joe is still unhappy at Essendon, and don’t be surprised if he nominates for the draft. Geelong have shown interest in him, and may pick him up with their first pick, at number 5. Collingwoods first pick is number 8.
