They finished third at the end of the home and away.

Lost to Wangaratta in the first week of the finals, then pumped Wodonga, beat Wangaratta in the re-match of the preliminary final and lead all day today only to lose to lead with about 15 minutes to go.

Final score 10, 12 (72) to 11.5 (71).

Corey Brown won the Did Simpson Medal.

Super game...got to sample some of the atmosphere in the last quarter among the Myrtleford throng...wish I had been sitting there when the siren went and McKimmie slotted that goal...

Well done to Tim Sanson...now waiting for the vitriol from Lavy Panther to start...or will he be humble in victory?

What an amazing game and result. Have to say as a neutral observer that I felt shattered for Myrtleford - a devastating loss for them!!!

Great atmosphere and a huge crowd in attendance. Looked like the whole of Myrtleford were there.

My only disappointment with my first O&M GF was the standard of the umpiring - it was shocking (both ways!!). Looks like the well publised rotation policy was a success - NOT!!

I was at the Riverina Football League Grand Final but listened to the O&M finish on the radio. Amazing finish in the last ten minutes. Shame the Saints lost but Lavington were the better side in the last 10 and believed they could win.

A record crowd of 14,811 people rocked up for a Lavington Sports Oval Grandfinal with a record gate of $59000 plus.

Sounded amazing on a scratchy radio reception from Narrandera.

Wow, must have been one of the best GF's ever and over 14,000 that would have been awesome, congrats Lavington.

Congratulations to Lavington. Unfortunate that they dont have a massive supporter base because the crowd would have been bigger had it been Myrtleford V another one team town!

The official crowd figure was 14,811 which is fantastic given Lavington's small supporter base and the biggest since the OM started taking official crowd numbers in 2002.
How does this stack up against other OFFICIAL crowds at grand finals at State level and other country leagues?
Pretty favourably I would have thought.

Outside the VFL, WAFL and SANFL I'd say it would have to be the biggest by a long way.

Watch the Goulburn Valley go very close come this Sunday...

Also you'll find the O and M crowd bigger than the VFL...

I thought that would be the case but with no figure on the VFL website and their article saying there was a huge crowd I thought they may have pushed the 20,000 mark.

The VFL only got about 9,000, yet the WAFL got nearly 23,000. If Port Adelaide make the GF in the SANFL there will be over 30,000 at Footy Park. Outside these 2 leagues it is by far the best I would say.

Hey Flat Track.
Does Uncle Eric Bott keep OFFICIAL crowd figures or does he rely on the Shepp News to take an educated stab like The Border Mail did for many years?
I'm tipping he would like to knock the OM off in something else, particularly with his sparring partner, Leroy Elder, departing the OM for western australia for a new role in footy.
Is it also true this could be Eric's last year in charge of the GV as well?

I'm not sure on both counts...I'm led to believe, however, the Uncle may be expanding his role in the Goulburn Valley community...

15,000 to a country league game? That's incredible! What an atmosphere that would have been. I wonder what the records are in other country leagues?

The Geelong league used to go close to 15,000 in the old days...especially at West Oval

Doesn't the GV give little admit one tickets to you as you buy your ticket, that way they can find out how many tickets they gave out and get a close estimate if not an accurate account of how many people turned up?

I think the GV get near 10k don't they? They have had near $100k gates i'm pretty sure, which means $10 for a senior, you would expect a few students etc, so it has to be greater than 10k people.

Who knows, if its a fine day, which it is supposed to be, on Sunday, you would expect a decent crowd at the GV GF this week.

Good game for the O&M anyway, with that crowd, would have been a fair specticle.

Great to see the old dark navy blues have a win. My old man use to be major sponsor of them in the late 80's...until the Lavington v Wodonga blood bath

15,000 to a country league game? That's incredible! What an atmosphere that would have been. I wonder what the records are in other country leagues?

RFL 7,000 in 1982 (1st Season)
SWDFL 12,400 in 1959 (Became RFL along with Farrer in 1982)
The SWDFL drew similar finals crowd to the O&M until about the 70's
Between 9 and 12 thousand every year for the Grandfinal. The Farrer league averaged between 4 and 7 thousand in the same period.

Local District leagues, Hume, Coreen, Tallangatta, Ovens & King
draw between 4 and 6 thousand depending on teams and weather on the day

The Ovens and King took their Grandfinal to the City (Wangaratta) this year and got 5,500. Probably the biggest in many years.

It was a shame that Saturday week was a wild and wet day otherwise a number of other leagues throughout Victoria and Southern NSW would have also drawn massive crowds.

They're expecting 13,500 to the GVFL decider today, I've heard.

Can anyone provide a list of this year's GF attendences from all major Vic comps?
