Anyone else a big fan of this 70's gang warfare movie?
I've got it on dvd, it's tops. There's a PS2 game coming out later this year, made by rockstar games (Grand Theft Auto and Midnight Club series) which looks very impressive.
"Baseball furries got the ball"
"Who do you love AND WHO LOVES YOU?"
So the warriors is the next big thing for sad fashionistas to play out and then dump when the next big thing comes hey. I have even seen "the warriors" stenciled around the place.
So far the trendwhores are doing their best to commercialise and kill hiphop culture. Even though the warriors isn't really hiphop but these gangs were around just before graf began.

I don't care as long as I can use the baseball furies to bash some skulls in.
Some bender (my little bro) will end up going that fairy gang who wears overralls and roller skates.
It's not like the Warriors is attracting new fans at rapid rates anyway, some kids will play it without ever knowing the movie, for me, it's a chance to nail some people with baseball bats, just like my idols in the movie did.

Hey man, The Warriors kicked the Furies ass. Maybe they should spend more time on their fighting skills instead of their cardio.
They can run though, those Furies.

Oh, and you got it wrong, technically, it's "Warriors come out to play"
You know the guy who plays the Warrior who gets handcuffed to the park bench...(James Remar), he was the original Hicks from Aliens but had to drop out 3 weeks into the shoot because of illness. Just thought id share that... ;)

I think Shaq probably played a part in bringing it back into the mainstream's consciousness..."Can you dig it???"

How unscary were those dudes with the rollerskates? Also there was a gang of bad-ass mimes running around! :D
A great film - They should have made a sequel. - Another great film back then was the Wanderers - had some pretty savage fight scenes too.

The good ol 'Ducky Boys'. That climactic fight on the high school football field, Dads ripping off pieces of bench seating to use as weapons. Quality.

Hmmm... anyone care to spin off any possible stars for a remake?
John Cena would be good for the Warrior War-Chief Swan... the Riffs Leader, the guy in the shades would be alright for either Taye Diggs (Equilibrium) or Samuel L. Jackson if they want someone older and J. August Richards (Angel) would be good for the Warrior Warlord Cleon.

The Warriors is being remade by MTV Productions in conjunction with Paramount Pictures. Before you get your hopes up, it isn't a strict remake and is only loosely based on the original movie (probably some gang being hunted by some other gangs!). Tony Scott is the director, and visualises a focus on martial arts and street fighting. Of course, the movie is set in the present day or near future and not 1979. Expect the movie to be released some time in 2006. Keep up to date with all the developments here, and in the active remake forum where you can also leave your views and comments.
Terence Winter, a writer and executive producer of The Sopranos has been drafted into The Warriors gang. The scribe will write the remake of the 1979 street-gang classic that Tony Scott is directing for MTV Films and Scott Free Prods. Paramount Pictures is distributing. Scott's version will follow the outline of the first film -- in which a gang leader is assassinated during a truce, and The Warriors, wrongly accused of the assassination, must make their way home through hostile gang territories -- while updating the heightened reality of the original film for contemporary audiences. The original was directed by Walter Hill and was written by Hill and David Shaber. David Gale is producing with Scott, while MTV Films' Van Toffler is executive producing with Skip Chaisson. Winter was Emmy-nominated five times for his work on Sopranos. In 2002, he won a WGA Award in the television category that he shared with writer Timothy Van Patten for writing the Pine Barrens episode of the HBO series. Winter is repped by CAA.
You can also keep up to date in the forum and at the IMDB's page for the movie.

It would be interesting, I reckon he could do it. He's got the right look for it.
Good comedians generally make excellent actors as well imo.
