Also, it will be great to see the happy (young) family of Loafy, Paully Hudson and Harro the Old Warrior in the Abers jumpers.
I have to Congratulate the great Loaf on getting a personal sponsorship deal from TRAVISTY clothing after years in the 'Old School' attire.
He has also pulled a gun from Essendon Grammer who apprantely has been playing soccer in Europe - Murray Makris. Anybody heard of him. Big rapts.
matty have u heard bout any Southport players, going 2 abers
How about Johnny Angel the Big Greek and Jim Fezzolari (MV) both going
to the Mighty Avondale Heights!!!

aberfeldie u/18s were unbeatable while under casey whelan. premiers from 2000,01,02 (Casey Whelan), 03, 04 (Barry Larcham).
Good juniors such as Jay Smiley (capt u18s couple years back) now playing at Jacana.
Not too sure if many players continue after u18 football at abers.

Who do you play for??
Whats the diferance if a player got injured from Strathmore, Pascoe Vale, Glenroy or Keilor I would still feel sorry for them.
It is the same as if a player from another AFL club to the one I support got injured, I would feel for them.

agree... nathan browns injury jumps to mind straight away. no matter who they are or who they play for you gotta feel for em. already i have seen mates injured in pain and it does affect you. if you dont feel sorry for them, when your injured, you better not want sympathy from them.

ohh forgot to say can remember seeing jay play at telstra dome for the edfl vs the wrfl. did he captain that side for the rep game? how is he travelling down there at jacana if you know?
also met few boys thru some mates playin at roxy n there recruiting well aswell... but anything can happen in football.
just also like to add my opinion that money in football is killing clubs. for those who are currently playing and getting paid some good $, probably dont understand, but you what happened to mateship, and playing for the love of the game.
interesting little story in my junior days lost every game.. when i say lost i mean thrashed and it wasnt until u16s and 18s until we began to have success. we were playing the same teams against the same players but started to gel and was very successful. that feeling beats getting paid to play football.. but i must admit the extra cash does help lol

money troubles at jacana? im pretty sure they have broken even, or will have by next month. but not sure just what ive heard. player wise, a lot are loyal and staying put.
all they need now i believe is a big major sponsor to put them ahead so they can recruit players and look after the players who have stayed true to the club.

Essendon Grammar will be spewing.
Murray is an absolute superstar footballer, he knocked back a lot of VFL clubs in favour of soccer a few years back and has been reportedly pulling in up around 100k for some European team.
I remember watching him up at the Grammar one day in the third quarter he already had about 6 goals to his name then produced a scissor kick from about 40 out which sailed through post high.......UNFORGETTABLE STUFF from Muzza.
Can pull a sheila too, gets around in a nice porsche and rarely have I seen the same girl twice in the passenger seat.

I figured marby might get the first mention at twos - problem is they were probably even money at the start of 05 and even shorter half way through. Speaking in bookies terms we cleaned up big on em last year, so we've got a bit of money in the kicker!!!!!
I'll frame a market every monday with a couple of comments from here on in for interest sake.....especially with all the pre-season talk thats being thrown around.

I am no expert but why is Roxburgh park at the same as Sydenham! Rox showed alot more and from what I have heard they have recruited alot better. I would think West Coburg and Marby would be at the same odds at this stage. Just my opinion though!

Does it really matter who goes in it - keilor have the best draw, they make everyone pay money to go in it and they charge people to get in - they win the comp and take the cash....!!
Probably a good comp for other leagues to play in, but there isnt many edfl sides still participating.
Especially when you can play somebody on a saturday for nothing.
Anyone got any information on brenton runnalls, brother of clint(strathmore 2005). has had an offer from edfl clubs doutta stars and aberfeldie and is also being enticed by brother to move to yarrawonga for season 2006.

As for mills.. mills is sticking with the jacana footy club.
In other good news for the club watts is fit and rearing to go and jeff frazier has decided to give the flick to the clubs offering money at him and has returned to jacana.

A couple of rumors doing the traps from Craigieburn
Jason Pappin supposedley talking to aberfeldie
Shaun Gordon and Ken Ingram heading to Nagambie for good coin
Captain Nolan apprently looking at taylors lakes
Premiership players not happy about the amount of coin going to a couple of recruits from a first divison club. two brothers reportedly on very big coin that in most jobs would put you into a high tax bracket.

Nothing to do with the lights as a previous poster suggested. In fact the lights were upgraded about 2 years ago and lighting increased from around 60 lux to 104 lux.
The reason it has not been running is not enough takers. Needs a minimum of 8 and max of 16 teams to run. Caveman is correct invitations have been sent. If it goes ahead first games will be on March 13th.

There are sure a lot of Jacana lovers. Caveman, great Premiership analysis and fantastic to be rated highly, but I feel that Marby should be 5-1 and West Coburg 4-1. Glenroy will also be strong, but you are spot on. There is absolutely no certainty in B Grade.
Strathmore evens is more realistic. Especially, with Paul Barnard, Luke Williams and Big Miles QUinn, joining Lindsey, O'Neill, Goggins, Walker, Beazely, Tate, Harvey and O'Brian* as recruits. Eleven guns into a Premiership team. SCARRRY!!!! Also, 18's won the flag.
I honestly would back them to beat Bullants VFL. Big call, but look at the names.
Pappin was as close as ever, but feels he should stay. The Pekes brothers are getting good coin and are part of the walk out of O.Park. The other should stay. Ingram may leave.
Avondale looking very fit - Douttas also strong.
Johnny Bell trained the house down at Marby tonight and so did another
big recruit which will be named next week. Dave Weston you've done it again.
Roxburgh will be better than Sydenham. Grenam and more of Rombotis with the possibility of Ty Zantuck. K.Park are on fire with the recruiting and so are Keilor.

Matthew. First up love reading your posts. Really do. Very accurate as well. It's amazing what people will tell you hey :) Keep them coming mate. Bit of truth stretching with some of the marby stuff but hey it's your club. The stuff about Garbutt going for the love of his mates is very tongue in cheek. He said his knee would only hold out for 6 games and Allison said that's fine that's all we need you for. He is not taking a pay cut. Personally I'll think he'll play more than 6 games and that Marby has done well.
One interesting thing is his hatred for Allison. Consistantly said if there was one person he'd like to crack it would be Allison. This is a man who coined the affectionate nickname of Dawn Fraser for GA. A term he's known to hate. He also has a love of Crazy Dave K. Should be interesting seeing them to get on. Stan the man will love seeing the big fella down there.
Strathmore have also apparently signed a bloke Hopes from the WRFL. Is a CHF. I think played in the GF. Not sure how good he is. Still hearing that Ogston has left. Same as McKeon and that Maggiorie can only play the first half of the year. Bomber should know. Aaron Thomas was also leaving at some point. Not sure what the story is there. Anyway they will win it by a mile. Will be the greatest chokes in the history of local footy if they don't. It's one very expensive football team.
Matty, Keilor Park won't be any good. They won't be any good b/c of their coach. He is a moron who will take the club backwards. He is a thug & he also has a history of promosing the world and delivering atlas' in regards to money. KP boys should be very wary of this. June may very well be their last match payment. With losses like Misiti, Barcley, Chris Smith, & Brown i think it's the bottom four for KP.
The rest of the comp will be as even as ever. I think Greenvale and Avondale will hold their places but I think Abers could jump up and grab Keilor's spot. Abers have a strong team now with Kemp, Loaf, Huddo, Shep and a few other younger blokes that are more than handy. Has anyone heard if Faraj or whatever his name is is there. I know Keilor have got a few from the SANFL bloke but they are apparently fringe players with not a lot of size about them. They have been quiet though. Matty do you know anyone else they have? They've lost Rabee, Tony, and Towner.
Doutta's will be knocking on the door but the their outs are as big as their in's. The bloke they had from Willy has also gone back. Having said that they should have made it last yr but for the Lock stuff up

I would be very surprised if Nolan didn't play at Craigieburn in 2006. Ingram has gone to Nagambie but he played at West Meadows last year. Not sure about Pappin, but went back to Craigieburn from Oak Park to play with his mates and is on good coin there.
is there any truth that this big recruit might be Brendan Duncan
Duncan was floated 2 weeks ago, could it be Boris??

There are sure a lot of Jacana lovers. Caveman, great Premiership analysis and fantastic to be rated highly, but I feel that Marby should be 5-1 and West Coburg 4-1. Glenroy will also be strong, but you are spot on. There is absolutely no certainty in B Grade.
Roxburgh will be better than Sydenham. Grenam and more of Rombotis with the possibility of Ty Zantuck.
Gday Matty,
I think it is fair to say that both clubs are equal favourites. Marby werent far off it last year and we have both recruited well! As long as on grand final day the mighty West Coburg end up in front! :D
Matty do you know anyone else they have? yes faraj is down at abers.
They would have come with the coach C Gaylard who coached at Braybrook last year.
Will go the knuckle if things dont go his way and will hit from behind played against him and watched it happen many of times. Many in the WRFL think its a bad move by Keilor Park hiring him and are laughing one less thug in the league now.
Finally looks like everyone starting to see what the WRFL and Braybrook football have know for a long time.
Be wary of what he has to say says one thing then does the complete other.
Framed a "dummy" market for both A & B grade flag - interested to get some feedback.
Maribyrnong Park - 2/1 Strathmore - EVENS
West Coburg - 7/2 Greenvale - 5/1
Taylors Lakes - 5/1 Keilor - 6/1
Westmeadows - 6/1 Avondale Heights - 7/1
Airport West - 8/1 Aberfeldie - 8/1
Glenroy - 8/1 Doutta Stars - 10/1
Pascoe Vale - 10/1 Oak Park - 12/1
Moonee Valley - 12/1 East Keilor - 15/1
North Coburg - 25/1 Keilor Park - 25/1
Jacana - 25/1 Craigeburn - 33/1
Tullamarine - 33/1
Roxburgh Park - 66/1
Sydenham Hillside - 66/1
Hadfield - 100/1
If money is as important to many Maribyrnong Park blokes as several of you have hinted at thru these pages . . . . would they be better off to lay off against themselves and take the 10/1 on Pascoe Vale? At the end of the day they'd be better off in the pocket again.
Each-way the Ezard led Pascoe Vale for me . . . . . my double is Johnny Taylor to take the goalkicking.

Grant played in the VFA for a couple of years for Coburg in early-mid 90's. Oak Park ever since, pretty busy with his chiro practice in moonee ponds so dont know if he will press on again. Been a great player for the club though and a top bloke.

Is there any chance of anybody getting near Strathmore this year? They would want to win the flag with the coin they are dishing out. We all know about Harvey, Williams & Quinn. Does anybody know anything about the lesser known players they have picked up.

You will find Strathmore has picked up a guy named Johnny Lindsay from Port Colts (Western league). He's an ex-South Melbourne Districts player. He also played a year down at Chelsea Heights in the SFL. He's won many B&F awards at Colts and has won B&F in the comp in the Western League too. Very nippy little rover with the quickest boot to ball you'll ever see. He's an on baller who snags his 40-50 goals per year, but gets a ton of the ball and has spurts where he's unstoppable. Quite capabe of being the surprise packet in the EDFL. He'll go in as unknown at the start of the year and will be tagged as the year progresses. Got best afield in last years Western League GF against Parkside. Keep a watch on him. He'll be a huge bonus to Strathmore.

There are plenty of other teams spending big money & there can only be one flag given out. From all reports, this wasnt the case last year & they won it. St Albans & Albion in the wrfl spend big coin & both underachieve considering the money they spend. St Albans are never really a threat come finals time & Albion are the best side just out of the finals each year. Somebody still needs to get them to the chocolates.

Lindsay is 25 this year is a gun i remember him playing TAC Cup for the Dragons, unlucky to miss being picked up he instantly chased coin. Good on him, loves a goal. Josh O'Neill 27 this year is a former western Jets midfielder and Port Colts captain is a hard ruck rover centreman type.
Myles Quinn is a ex WAFL ruckman, was the best in that comp. enough said.

i believe Ben goggins played for tassie u18 side then moved to sunbury won the b&f in his first year at the club was runner up in another year after missing 6 games the boy has got a leap on him and you can put him anywhere on the ground, he then made a move to seddon and starred but injuries got to him a couple of years ago last year he won the club B&F ahead of walker who has also moved to strath, seddon were a very average side but had a couple of guns goggins will slot in beautiful there he is a grinder doesn't always stand out but will get the job done. ask some boys from wrfl div 1.

isnt it terriffic that he is so loyal. Certainly matured over the last two years, could go off and play for some big dollars but there is more to play for than money. Mateship, loyalty, passion for the jumper.. if you dont have these then you'll struggle. Seems like a very good role model for the young guns down at Jacana.
I know many footballers just playing for the dollars and don't have the other three i mentioned earlier.
I think he has made the right decision staying because Jacana will be a very fit and young successful club who promote the young kids to the seniors... will cause some upsets because of the kids.
Believe there is 14 spots in the senior team which are taken up by players 18 to 20 years of age. Also hear, that those players played junior football for the club too.

Is Wilo an ex-stratty junior?, it don't mention his junior club on Melbournes website just his school St.Kevins who have a habit of Hijacking there name onto AFL team lists ahead of the players rightful junior club
