Bull********
Didn't he leave Essendon a few years back because he was homesick?

Told by the AFC his services were no longer required. Apparently essendon is interested. Sheedy must have done a HUGE backflip for him to be interested in Ladhams again
just maybe

No. Sheedy has always liked Ladhams. Was really pizzed off when Ladhams left to go back to SA originally.

So it's official then. Hardly surprising. A talented player, with a less-than-talented brain.
Actually, from memory Stiffy, Sheedy/Essendon were quite reluctant to let Ladhams go. They had no choice in the end, due to Ladhams' 'ol "I'm homesick" routine.
EDIT: Sorry 'just maybe', you just beat me to it! :thumbsu:

Yes they rated him but didn't Sheedy have a crack at Ladhams after he joined us

Will he go into the PSD, or will we get some value back for Ladhams - ie. 4th round pick or perhaps a like fringe player from the Dons.

Kane I would think he would go in PS draft and we get nothing - but its not as we had anything in the first place ;)

Meh, not fussed either way.
No big loss. We won't get much for him anyway. No point getting a pick that we aren't plannning on using.

I don't care if we don't get anything for him... At last our list is looking a tad brighter! :D

Anything for Ladhams would be a bonus, considering he has no future at AFC.

True but if you trade for a draft pick, you MUST use it. So there is no point of us trading Ladhams for say 4th round pick when we are unlikely to use it. Might as well let him go for nothing :)

Good point...this kid has oodles of talent...but he needs some work on his head.

Knowing Sheedy he might say to Ladhams that he would pick him up in the PS draft & then turn his back on him for old times sake.

Ladhams joins the long list of could-have-beens in AFL footy.
Played 36 games in 2002/2003, averaging 16 disposals
Played 6 games in the next 2 years (none this year), averaging 8 disposals.
Essendon are welcome to him for nothing if they want.

Wow - we're really bitter towards Ladhams, aren't we ...
I mean, maybe he didn't rise to the levels that his talent says he should have. Maybe he blew his chance and wasted a spot on our list. Or maybe the coaching staff decided they didn't like his attitude and didn't give a chance.
Whatever it is - it's a pity for Chris.

Geez after the ********** I copped last year for saying 'good riddance' to Gary Ayres some of you are looking like real hypocrites.
I would have liked to have seen Ladhams get another go with the Crows at some stage in 2005 but it was always going to be difficult for him to force his way in. Good luck to him next year and I hope he does get picked up by another club.

Why would the AFC only release one player? I'm hoping liking hell they intend to delist more than just Ladhams. I know they have to delist three, so counting Stevo as the second, would mean they need to delist one more. I'm hoping they delist more than 2 though ( excluding the Stevo retirment ), otherwise it will take us at least 5 years to clear out the rubbish.

Springy, we will delist more. We always hold off until after the trade period to announce our delistings in case there is someone interested to pick up our rubbish and we get someting of value to uf for the player we plan cutting.
I expect us to announce all the delisting a day before the deadline which I think is later in october.

Like Port have told their potential delitings, the others will find out their finished after the trade week. Maybe the club intends to try and trade some of the others like Schuback or Jericho as we are their first club and they might be of value to someone. Ladhams has obviously been around for a while and the club probably realises we definately arent going to get anything for him, hence the early delisting.
I seriously doubt we will only delist a couple, after the trade week we will delist a few more to make way for the incoming talent (Pav, Shammer, Motlop, Waters, Butler, Luke Power and Shannon Grant :o ). I wish hehehe :D

Hate to see players with talent go. Would've been a handy crumber against WC.
Does anyone know what this "attitude problem" was? Did he not like training, drink too much, screw the bosses daughter? What exactly was it that was so terrible that they couldn't work it out?
No need to delist players straight away when it doesn't have to be done until after the trading period. In reality the decision to delist Ladhams was probably made a long time ago.
I think he'll play some good football for someone else. I have to admit, I am disappointed he wasn't given games late in our season. His form was great in the SANFL and we really missed a good goal kicking small forward. It wasn't our only problem in that preliminary final, but it was our most glaring deficiency.

I think that would be the response from Richmond if we approached them with a direct swap ladhams for krakouer

They wont give us anything for Ladhams but I dont mind the idea of getting Krakouer. He could be a very good pick up.

Not unexpected. I liked the guy and thought he had real talent. Obviously the 'other' issues was just too muich for Craigy.
My question is, was it really necessary to make it public (to other AFL clubs) that he wouldn't be offered another contract ? That makes it extremely difficult to offload him anywhere else in trade week.

- We make it public that he won't be getting a contract.
- So either another club trades for him, or he goes in the Pre Season Draft.
- But for another club to get him in the PSD, they'd have to (a) keep a space free on their list and then (b) hope another club doesn't pick him up first. Keeping a space free on your list (ie passing on a draft round, or delisting a player after the draft) just to pick up a particular player, is not a great idea unless you've got one of the first few picks in the PSD and there's no-one better you've got your eye on.
- So, end of the day, if a club wants Ladhams they'll probably trade for him. And it's not as though the other clubs won't know that Ladhams was a likely delisting anyway. We all did.

spot on, as unlikey as it is we'd get something for a guy playing sanfl all season, port have learned from saying this last yr and are keeping their cards close to their chests this yr. Its only really limiting our options by telling the world he is not wanted.

Apparently Ladhams jumped before he was pushed. He told the club he wants to look for his opportunities elsewhere. One of the news services tonight said that he has also refused to be traded.
In other words, if we do find a suitable trade for him he wouldn't accept it and would rather take his chance in the PSD.
Stiffy, are you sure he even wants to play AFL? It wouldn't surprise me if he didn't bother and just stayed with North.

I think he will most likely stay with the roosters. It sounds like he is pretty angry about it all.
Good, as long as he doesnt leave North, i will be happy. But listening to that last night, it defenaitly sounded like he wants to stay in Adelaide and continue playing football with the Roosters.
I've heard rumblings about something more serious with Ladhams, specifically a post earlier in the year expressing surprise that he wasn't immediately axed for what he had done.
Come on now, the people want to hear. Or at least I do, PM please.
I think he will most likely stay with the roosters. It sounds like he is pretty angry about it all.
Yep, like he couldn't see this coming?
He's done a two year deal with North. Great news for the Roosters :D
