Heres some names I'd
expect to be in (future) rep teams
if there was to be one.
Peter Shepherd (palmerston)
Ed Darcy (palmerston)
Simon Munkara (Darwin)
Jarrod Brennan(Crocs)
Dallas Cook(palmerston)
A.Reti (Palmerston)
Daniel Hill (StMarys)
Jonno Mullins (S.D might be one to watch for in 2-3 years)
also why Braun Bush isn't playing in a state
league is beyond me.

He was linked to the Bulldogs a year or so ago and trained with them for a short while as far as I know. I thought he might have been a draft smokey.

Wanderers were good side till a few years ago
but ran down their junior base and are now paying
for it (Collecting the last 4 wooden spoons).
Mark Motlops a good coach (first season with Wanderers)
but might be the wrong coach in this situation
maybe bit too softly softly (bit of brimstone needed?)- time
will tell......

but couldn't establish a lead.
Buffaloes game fell apart (thur not maning up)

seemed more mobile than previous games.
Darwin fought back into the game through the

I can see your very interested by the way you replied. Hitter eh? :D
BTW Killer, did you read in todays NT News, where Russel Jeffrey criticised the Wanderers players of not producing anything for their coach?
He says that they are making their club ashamed, but I'd go as far to say they're making the league look scrappy.
Also did you read about how some of the Aussie Rules clubs, may be joining in the "dry season" Rugby League comp, after the DRL dissolved. I can't remember which club it is, but it would be a good idea anyway, as most players play anohter sport in the off season.

He should talk
Russell Jeffery walked out on the club (Wanderers)
more times than anyone can remember.
The DRL are trying to replace Brothers (the most successful side in DRL history) with a Wanderers/Bagot team (for the aboriginal following I suppose). Rugby leagues dead in the water up here anyway.
Did you see the mistake in Sundays paper?
The NT News had Ephrim Tipungwuti kicking 2 goals for

Darwin played well enought to win ,but,
we're far from impressive against a Wanderers
side which has achieved only one victory this
season.
Time and again the Darwin gave away possession
and control of the play to Wanderers, to an extent
to which at time had the Eagles bemused.
Darwin has a number of key players down on form
Best for Darwin was Richard Russell at f/forward
M.Ahmat in the centre.
Southern Districts look a shadow of their previous (seasons)
selves. Despite the efforts of Croc veterans Cockatoo, Rusca, Harvy
Waratahs were a pace or two in front of the Crocadiles for the whole
game.
Along with Waratahs usual leading class of Jim Bury Mcgough
Singh and Smith, Tom Logan (Alice Springs player in his first season)
was very impressive winning a lot of possession
against strong opposition.
Palmerston? more of the same really. They've got
20 players who would walk into any of the other
sides.

The big news of this week:
Buffaloes captain Micheal Williams has been banned
from Football Park for 3 years for an incident involving
Robbie Muir a security guard and an off duty P.O
2 weeks back
Channel 7 to broadcast the NTFL grand final throughout the
Territory (and into parts of Tasmania if you believe the local paper)
after the ABC gave preference to the Rugby Union G.F.
Hopefully if the games any good they might put it on C7.

Nightcliff.......6.5......13.6........23.14........27.24 (186)
Wanderers ...0.0......3.1...........3.2............3.3(21)
Hooker 6 for Nightcliff
One would have had to been a supreme optimist to
believe that Wanderers could be competitive here.
The game was played in the heat of the day (2 to 4)
and Nightcliff looked very tired at the end of it -
could they be affected next week (?).
Wanderers seem to be alot more affective with the possession
they've been getting the last couple of weeks. (as appossed
to what they were doing previously - blindly kicking the ball away at
the first chance they get)The eagles let loose with a chain
of hand balls out of the back line in the final quarter (which
might not seem odd to you lot, but, very much so for an
NTFL game where theres rarely 2 handballs in the
whole game.)
St Marys ....5.4....9.7....12.7....15.11(101)
Darwin.........1.6....2.8.....6.10....9.15(69)
D Nolan 4, R Clarke Nugget 3 (for Saints)
Munkara 3 (darwin)
Playing for a spot in the finals, Darwin had the best of
the early possesion but couldn't convert into goals
StMarys had no problems putting 5 on the board before
Buffaloes registered on the siren.
Basically they kept this lead throughout the game. lot of
rough-house tactics by Saints were a feature thoughout.
The umpiring was again poor, not that would have changed
the result, but it definately prevented an even contest.
Buffaloes On baller Billas broke his leg in a contest
during the second half.
lying on the ground near the boundry line they throw the
ball in (lucky the guy wasn't trampled ). They then pick
him up in a stretcher and move him over the boudary
to wait for a Doctor who never arrives (there was not
doctor)
Anyway the game marked the end of the Buffaloes season.
They tried hard but it just wasn't there day.

I was working at Darwin Golf Club, which is fairly close to the Football Park, Marrara, and it sounded like a good crowd in which is always good to see for local footy. Good chants started up, and evertime i went outside to get some fresh air i could hear a nightcliff chant
Still wonder who won.. ill see tomorrow

Teams were named with the following players:
Palmerston

C Dallas Cook - J Mcleod - Salem Hassen
HF Ed Darcy - S Keegan - Aaron Davey

Waratahs were obviously planning for this game for a
while. Phil Smith started at Half back and staying there
for much of the game, with Valantine Puajimmi reclaiming
the role of key forward for Waratahs.
Depite this Palmerston got the early lead with the first 4
goals of the game and looked in a dominate position early
with Kunoth Addinsall and Tyrell contributers. Dave
Sullivan (returning from Victoria) on Peter Shepherd (FF)
was effective but Palmerstons answer was to let him
lead out a lot which opened the forward line up for the
above.
Waratahs game plan with the tall timber in the back line
(Smith Singh) feeding the ball down the middle of
the ground to there all Tiwi forward line ( the mobile
Mungatopi Tipaloura and Puajimmi) proves that there
are some smart cookies within the Waratahs brains trust,
In the middle part of the game Tahs manged to wrestle
this dog fight right up to the top D of the competition.
Palmerston however regained the lead in late in the third,
again proving that they are 3 or 4 players better that any
other side in the competition.
Waratahs 10 points down in last quarter had a chance
of winning with a late goal to Baj Singh, then a shot
on goal from Bury (out of bounds). Finally on the last
bell Puatijimmi marked inside the 50, only to see his kick
fall shot of the goals - Magpies by 4 points and straight
into the Grand Final.
Very good effort from Waratahs when you consider they
had 4 key players returning this week ( Bush Withers
Smith and Sullivan).
Palm Shepherd 5 Darcy 4 Bailey Addinsall 2 Kurnoth
McLeodTyrell
Waratahs Puatijimmi 7 Bury Singh Mungatopi 2 Bush

Great news about Fox Footy.
Especially since it opens up the game to all of Australia now, and will let the boys achieve higher in order to play with the big boys down south.
Also heard that all of next season will be on Fox Footy, to be hosted by Bruce McAvaney and the AFLNT Development Officer. Should be good, although I'll miss Charlie King :p

Actually he'll be doing the FOXTV broadcasts.

Waratahs Singh 5, Puatijimmi4, J Bury2 Palipuaminni
Tiploura Tipuamantimerri
Waratahs started with both Puatijimmi and Smith
in their goalsquare.
Nightcliff early on had numbers to the ball and a massive amount
of possesion .
Waratahs defensive plan was to blunt the tigers attacks by
pushing them wide into the pockets.
The Tigers didn't captitalise on the amount of possesion they
had during first quarter (18 to 7 in side 50 according to the ABC),
there were however few chances for the Creampuffs at the other
end of the ground, and when the ball did get down there Smith
and Puatijimmi tended to crowd each other out
Waratahs got themselves back into the game somewhat in the second
but the story for Waratahs was one of too few contributers. Puatijimmi
ans Smith were rarely heard from in the first half (though Puatijimmi did
make an impact late in the game when Smith was moved to the back line)
Logan and Singh were overshadowed by their opponents and some of
there senior players were tending to over use the ball .
In the second half Nightcliff kicked away from Waratahs and were never
threatened.
Best for Nightcliff were Miller and the Hooker brothers in the
forwards .For Waratahs: Singh was presistant (3 goals in the second)
as was Puatijimmi late in the game.
There you go - a bunch of kids from the bush leagues (Alice Springs
Tennant Creek and Katherine) turn the tables over a Waratahs team
assembled from fringe players from the SANFL/WAFL.
Got to do it all again next week boys.

well if the ABC telecasts are the same as the last couple of years we'll only get most of the last quarter and it appears there won't be too many Port or Adelaide AFL games shown live on TV - at this stage.
We'll get the solo Friday night game each club plays live on 8 and then about 5 games each in the second half of the season. As for Foxtel we receive the same version as you get in SA so we'll have no live matches from Footy Park........
So our actual AFL coverage is no better this year compared to 7 and C7 efforts........can only hope the local station will listen to local supporters as 7 certainly didn't when it came to match broadcasts.

I Think Palmerston got the jump on Nightcliff
which unsettled them.
The Tigers needed to score early but it wasn't
to be.
Once Mick Mclean moved an extra man into defence
during the second half they(Nighcliff) clawed
their way back into it. Two late goals to Palmerston
in the third killed them.

a.) i dont believe the final score line reflects on the actual game. WHy i say this is because at the end it became a whitewash.
b.) after all the debates with the ABC not wanting to show it at night, blah blah blah, ch 7 didnt do any better. And what is up with fox footy. If they said it why didnt it happen??
