People talk about the depth of talent in next year's draft pool. Came up with this side, hell of a time fitting in the quality key position players. Anyone that I've left out that is an obvious choice or maybe in contention?

Basically playing football up at whyalla and is bottom age this year. He played a couple of under 17 games for port magpies.
Being a country kid he hasn't come up through the system, as I said a smokey.
Bryce Gibbs will be captain.
James Sellar probably vice.
The team that ends up with Bryce is the luckiest in the land...

Just watch out for young Timothy Brown! Has the work ethic and i reckon if he improves his speed, could be up there with the best! Trust me, don't write him off!

Jackson Sherringham definately will be in the All Aus team, has dominated alot of games this year, should be a fairly high draft pick too

Thought I'd have to leave the WA guys alone or have Yakuza throw a strop about how Vic based fans don't know anything about the WA kids and so therefore shouldn't say anything at all :)
C'mon Yak, surely its due :D

Just a couple of questions re a couple of the 2006 kids
Bachar Houli - what was his injury this year.
Josh Kennedy - how big was his father when he played.

Tom holmes in josh riddle out
I have a few mates that have played against Bacher Houli and he is meant to be a gun. Was captain of the Vic Metro under 16's side last year and i would expect him to rate highly next year.
bachar has a stress fracture in his back, but i think he recovered, it was like a 6 month injury
Wats everyone's opinion on Sam Fielding?

he would have to be the best ruckman in australia coming through

Houli had stress fractures in the back, which is a bit of a concern, but they can be managed (Adam Pattison had them last year, once he recovered he was sensational).
John Kennedy Jnr was 190cm and 91kg when he played - great size for a wingman.

Any of the players mentioned in this thread eligable to be drafted this year, or are they all too young?

was josh fraser the only 1 pick who is a ruckman, because we could see one next year.

michael gardiner was no.1 pick for west coast
was josh fraser the only 1 pick who is a ruckman, because we could see one next year.
It is only recently that it has been common for midfielder to be number 1. Ruckmen used to always be up the top.
Leslie - key defender.
Lounder - ruckman
McDonald - centreman.
Banik - ruck-rover.
Hooper - ruck
Hutton - full forward
Banfield - centre
Gaspar - key defender
White - ruck
Waterhouse - (god knows) half-forward
Gardiner - ruck
Johnstone - wing
Headland - wing/HFF
Fraser - ruck
Riewoldt - CHF
Hodge - centre
Goddard - centre
Cooney - ruck-rover
Deledio - ruck-rover

I'd have a few more SA boys in there, namely Holmes and Schmidt and possibly Zac Millar too.

Vic Metro have won the last couple of titles and they showed some promising bottom agers this year so why not have more i think the bloke that put the all aus side together must have put to many SA boys.

Not sure about Nathan Djerrkura. He was selected to play with the NT in the U/18's nationals in Melbourne and chose not to play and returned home for the holidays even though he was in Melbourne for schooling. Might not be a priority for him.

Saw Djerrkura play for Scotch versus Melbourne Grammar, was a class above that standard. Think he'll be watched closely at next year's U18 Champs.
Reckon there will be a Morton in the side.

I wasn't as absolute as that but by an large it's a fact. What annoys me more are those who offer opinions based on hearsay and who haven't actually seen the kids play.

Other Possibilities for next year maybe
Dom Foster- Led WAFL goal kicking this year
Shawn Colbung- Think WAFL team of the year Played 18s this year
Justin Simpson-If he stays injury free AIS scolarship holder
Clayton Collard- AIS scholarship holder played 18s this year
Gary Moss- If shoulder/collarbone injury makes full recovery
James Thompson- If not drafted this year
Chris Masten-dominated 16s for WA
James Thompson- If not drafted this year
Care to express an opinion as to who might consider drafting him?

the team that nominated him to get into state screening......i would think would be a logical answer.

How do you guys rate the ruckmen Renouf and Leunberger?
Renouf's the man! Have seen play senior football for Southport all year. Has a lot of work to do still but next year must be his year. Has played 3 times against Cameron Wood and outmarked him on each occassion, he knows his stuff.
the team that nominated him to get into state screening......i would think would be a logical answer.

Lets just say I know someone who is privy to all that sort of stuff.
