Sorry I mean back to D grade instead of being promoted to B grade.

No clue from this end. Can you elaborate on what the rumour has put up as the reason for the loss of points?

I heard the VAFA believed they were paying players or paying a player but they couldn't prove it, but apparently they have got them for playing an un-registered player and have stripped them of all points.

Pretty severe rumour! Agree with sloth, be careful who's words you repeat.

I have also heard this rumour. Forget the off-season AFL merry-go-round, THIS would be a story and a half.

Mate this isn't Watergate or November 11 '75, it's C Grade Amateurs. Just give us some facts Nuffy!

I've posted what I heard and that's why I posted it to get some facts myself and to set the record striaght. All I can say is that my source know's someone who is employed by the VAFA so it is fairly credible.

It would be very bad for the reputation of the VAFA to send a club back two divisions because of a technicality, surely they would not be that stupid. I think Nuffy must have been hit by a few errant shots at goal during the final series and dreamt this one up.

The VAFA have made worse decisions in their time... like not giving me a Grand Final!

Nuffy,

1. if an unregistered player had been detected, it would've been done so on the week of the game in which they first played. That's why we have regular changes to the ladders where clubs lose points for playing an unregistered player. I would find it highly unlikely that a player could've played all year an not been picked up after his first game for Blacks unless.......

2. The Topakis precedent (OMs losing points for playing Andrew Topakis) concerned a player who should not have been re-instated as an amateur as he'd omitted to disclose monies received in the VFA on his form at the start of the season. This was discovered after an investigation into an allegation Old Brighton wanted to lure him across with $$$, but backfired on OMs who were stripped of their points because Topakis had been playing when OMs (and the VAFA mind you) shouldn't have let him.

If Blacks have been involved in a situation as described in 2. above, then fine - they'll retrospectively lose all points won in games they played this player. Clubs will be awarded points for wins against Blacks when this player played. If this is enough to send Blacks to 9th or 10th then they will be demoted to D Grade.

However, the rumour you've thrown out there is almost identical to scenario 2. and it would be a remarkable coincidence for this to have occurred again.

Alphonse - whether you think its stupid or not, its the rule (full disclosure of payments must be made on re-instatement applications), and it will be enforced if it has been transgressed. No doubt about that.

nothing will happen, nothing can be proven, so no need to worry about anything.

I over heard Mick Sholly talking about it with some of his buddies from Old Xavs at the A Grade Grand Final a few weeks back. He reckons it's being investigated and that legal action isn't out of the question. I also heard from a reliable source that this isn't the only legal action being taken against the administrators at this point in time...

I just spoke directly to Brett Connell at VAFA HQ and he advised that Uni Blacks have not been relegated and will be proceeding to B Grade. There is no truth to this rumour.

Why don't you ask your mate Brett Connell about the other stuff-up he created regarding a certain "bond"?

Read the rules fools!

He is not my mate.

I don't know what you are talking about re the "bond" but it might explain why he is leaving the VAFA.
