Eagles voice concern
By DOUG ROBERTSON
WOODVILLE-West Torrens is offering a temporary home to every SANFL supporter tired of seeing Central District win the premiership.
The Eagles want all neutral fans on board for Sunday's grand final at AAMI Stadium in a bid to drown out the legendary English soccer-like chants of Bulldog supporters.
Central has rolled the Eagles in four grand finals in six years and their battle-weary fans have been out-numbered and out-shouted by the enemy.
"It's time that stopped," Eagles chief executive officer John Kantilaftas said. "It can't be ignored. Central's fans have out-numbered Eagles supporters in presence and in voice each time," he said. "It makes a big difference . . . the roar of support from the crowd can lift our players. We'd love to see neutral supporters join us."
Growling Central's president Les Stevens says a bit of noise won't spook the Bulldogs. "They can do what they like but we know our army of supporters will be there and I'll back them against anybody," he said.
The Eagles will give away 5000 "Go Eagles" posters outside the ground and Kantilaftas called for every football lover to get involved.
"We've played in seven consecutive finals series so the players deserve support," he said.

Getting other club supporters to join the Eagle mob? We'll see... but like Les said, won't make any difference to us. :D

If they are blaming supporter numbers for losing GFs, no wonder they can't win them. I remember going to the MCG for the 1988 VFL GF between Hawthorn and Melbourne. Melbourne were sentimental favourites and had 90% crowd support. It didn't help them, they lost by 96 points. Players win finals, not spectators.

I wont disagree with you Adelaide Hawk players do win games not fans . But If I may quote what I heard last week against Port by Glenelg (after their seconds had won )fans Quote " we will support any team that plays against Port" end quote. :) .Sometimes certain teams will drag in support against them IE Port but the same maybe said about others ,whether that be fans from the northern suburbs or us only time will tell.
Cheers
Go Eagles
PS I will be there and I will be giving as much ### as I get given just ask the port fans :D or the north fans from the week before . Or failing that the Adelaide TV media who were at Woodville Oval thursday night the first time since the last grandfinal AFLseason must be over!!!!!

How was the streaker at that Grand Final Adelaide Hawk! I kid u not, when she entered the arena, that was the biggest roar I have ever heard in my entire life. Almost 94,000 people all rose as one, I'm surprised some of those fossils in the MCC section didn't keel over from heart failure! Oh what a memory!

I'd seen Helen Demico at the 1982 GF, then this one. I didn't get to see much of the 1988 one unfortunately, but a couple of the players told me she was rather nice. Watched the reply but they cut out the interesting bits. Censorship has always amazed me, it's quite okay watching violence, no problem. You can show people shooting each other, blowing each other to pieces, etc, but it's not okay to show nudity!!
Anyway, off my soap box. I recall there was one in 1989 GF, she was dressed in a batman cape and a bikini bottom. They game was so rivetting that nobody took much notice of her. This is what makes me laugh about the comparisons between the 1989 and 2005 Grand Finals. The 1989 one was so action packed you needed to watch the whole game again as a highlights package. A hightlights package of the 2005 final would show about 4-5 things, that's it.

Is that Mr Waterbeds and former Woodville and Eagles director Les Stevens?

Wasn't he killed in a car accident rallying or something ... or am I thinking of someone else?

You're spot on about the 89 streaker, she was good, but way too covered-up. And yeah I think that to say the 2005 Grand Final is the best since the 77 draw is taking it a bit too far, I personally think it's the best since 89, but is by no means superior to 89. Just my personal opinion.

It's okay Ford, the Eagles president probably wishes he was dead after losing another decider to the mighty Doggies!

Wouldn't have mattered if the other 7 clubs jumped on the eagles bandwagon for the day, they still would have been outnumbered and certainly out shouted :D
