From my limited knowledge I would like to get Kennedy but that looks unlikely
Swallow hopefully falls to pick 10, and in the second round maybe a midfielder with pace like Oakly Nicholls or a KPP

If history is any guide I'd take a look at the country Vic team at the U18 championships. This has led me to conclude that CC's old man (who apparently is a legend in country footie in Victoria) is our one and only talent scout.

They like the Vic Country because those guys are less likely to get homesick because if they got drafted they would have to move away from their family anyway, pretty smart if u think about it.

There is no way Oakly Nicholls will be around for your 2nd round pick. He might not even be around for your 1st round pick.

With a name like Oakly Nicholls he will never play for Freo. Would be more suited at Carlton / Adelaide / West Coast.

I've got a feeling that we'll take Nicholls with our 1st pick as Swallow will be going to Brisbane for pick 9.

Grant Birchall from Tassie, I believe Swallow will be gone by pick 10. Birchall has good size and pace and will fit in to our midfield nicely.

In hindsight we should have drafed Swallow last year instead of redrafting Daniel Haines.

Ditto, what he said :D
Same thing happened with Haselby

The Adelaide clubs could have drafted Pavlich in 2000 but chose not to. Hopefully Swallow doesn't turn into as big a star as Pav (unless ofcourse if we draft him).

I see the candidates as;

Kennedy, Lucy, or Jones for pick 10,

Spangher, Sampson, Lonergan, or Higgins at 26,

Riggio, Taggert, Seal or Varcoe at 42.

Kennedy will be gone by 10. Chances are, so will Jones.

Of the players you've named there aren't any particularly quick midfielders. Either slow toilers or KPP. Interesting choices really? I thought the recruiting managers would be shot if we didn't secure some pace around the ground.

There's plenty enough pace amongst them?

If you don't agree give some alternate suggestions?

Would Freo fans be satisfied with

Swallow
Spangher
Seal?

Hes bottom age as well... in other words, he has more room for improvement

Im hoping like hell that either Clarke, Kennedy or Ryder fall to 10. Its possible but unlikely.

I would have thought a quality pacey midfielder would be the priority?

IMO; Pav and McPharlin have the 2 Key forward spots sured up with Longmuir/ Sandilands the third tall. And Murphy in reserve. Maybe its not that simple but I think there are more difficiencies in the middle.

What you are saying has a very good point, but this is how i look at the situation.
1. You cant go wrong with good local key position players.
2. I dont rate any of the midfielders that high especially the ones that will be around at 10. Swallow - Pass, Oakley Nicholls - Pass, Thomas - Pass.

I believe they should pick the best player available, regardless of position. People have been saying Freo lack pace through the midfield, its time for Schammer & Browne to stand up for one of these spots both have exceptional pace off the mark. The three talls from East Freo are the stand outs in this draft, Swallow is OK and at best will turn into a good to servicable player. My pick on potential is Grant Birchall who is bottom age, I went to a few games when I was in Tassie and he can play, I believe he could turn into an "A" grade player.
