Mickan set to make his mark at Glenelg.
Former Adelaide and Port Adelaide Assistant Coach, Mark Mickan, has been appointed to the full time position as Senior Coach of the Glenelg Football Club for the next three years.
Mark was appointed by the Glenelg Football Club Board of Directors, following the strong recommendation by the highly credentialed Selection Committee, established to ensure the best possible coach was appointed to steer the club forward.
The selection committee undertook a comprehensive selection process in which Graham Cornes, Wayne Jackson, Rod Jameson, Chief Executive Officer Darren Chandler and President Gary Metcalf, were unanimous that Mickan was the man to coach the Club in 2006 and beyond, with a focus of recognizing and developing our young list and maximizing their potential.
With proven success at the helm with Woodville West Torrens during the late 90s and Assistant Coaching roles at Adelaide and Port Power, Mickan’s football achievements extend past his coaching feats. Mickan was the Inaugural Adelaide Club Champion in 1991, Inducted into the SANFL Hall of Fame in 2002, Captained the Brisbane Football Club for 3 years and played in 5 State of Origin Games for South Australia.
Mickan’s playing career includes 37 games with Adelaide, 48 games with Brisbane and 135 games with local football club, West Adelaide.
Mickan’s wealth of football experience at both AFL and SANFL levels, qualifications (Degrees in both Teaching and Psychology), combined with his general knowledge of the game gives the Glenelg Football Club great excitement and positiveness for the immediate and future direction.
Why would you sign a 3 year deal to coach that rabble when you will be lucky to see out the year.
