irish_setanta
7 Oct 2005, 08:48
essendon wants campo, sheedy asked why they took pick 51 for pick 55, pick 51 is going to be used for the father son with neagle, cole could play wing or hbf, heffernan might go to essendon in psd, asked about terry daniher as a replacement for robert shaw, but said he didnt think that daniher would be at essendon next year, said he would be at optus oval today to point club officials to the rifgt corridor at 1 min to 2

they said on sen that along with a late pic for bowden the doggies will get a cash settlement. Maybe this will be used to pay some of rawlings wages at another club.

Ok, well sheedy was just on and he said thats why they done the richards deal that way, pick 51 is in the third round therefor it can be used to take neagle. The rules state that it has to be a 3rd rounder, doesnt say which one of the 3rd picks(if you have more than one) you have to use.

Someone just rang in with a good joke.

Hawthorn have traded Jonothan Hay for the Kangaroo's Shannon Watt.

I was in the carpark at Optus Oval this morning and Clarkson hopped out of his car and said Hay, Laidley responded with Watt.

I liked it anyway.

think he may have a fight on his hands with this one as the AFL dont agree.

Also didn't they agree to take Neagle prior to trade week and therefore prior to them actually having pick 51 ?

That sounds logical to me, but we are talking about sheedy.

As for that hay, watts joke , that was very funny.

T Gaspar for pick 18 is a great deal if true. As injury prone as Hay and with a much bigger upside. I wouldn't mind if Freo got Gaspar.

Yeah i think that this one has to be clarified, doesnt seem fair that they agreed to neagle with pick 39, and now can use 51, doesnt quiet sound fair.

7 Oct 2005, 10:28
I think you will find essendon have to use there highest third round draft pick.
At this stage 39 not 51 but if they trade away 39 they can use 51. That is my understanding of the rule and no I dont have the rules in front of me to be 100% correct.

I doubt Travis Gaspar will be traded. The club has put alot of time and money into him getting his feet right and next season with a fulll pre season under his belt he will be a good player for us.

That's what I think but maybe his feet aren't right. If the Eagles wanted to trade him I would be very wary.

andrew_embley
7 Oct 2005, 10:40
couldn't see Gaspar going for 18. In all honesty i cant see clubs rating him that high as he hasnt proved anything at senior level, but has that magic bean word 'potential'. Secondly 18 would be useless to us as the last thing we need is more bloddy draft picks. (although each year at trade time our fetish continues :( ). ) thirdly, it just doesnt seem logical him leaving as i'm sure he doesnt have issues with the club on a personal level, as he was pulled into 2 finals from nowhere by the coaches, and if its a money issue, i cant see him in a logical mind having problems there unless we are only offering 20 bucks a kick and 15% off medication/physio bills.

then again, if we are eyeing off someone big (yet knowing us we'll take the picks) then it may come into pay having 2 1st rounders. and 18 was the pck we gavetme for McConnell.

he was one of WC better players in the GF IMHO

he will be a better prospect than spandannaman - he had little opportunities with glass & hunter.

you think his rubbish, good for you, your opinion so stick to it id say- but since ive seen every player offered a trade called 'rubbish' or 'hack' in this forum please exept my apologies when i take this comment with a grain of salt

Harris and pick 18 for Gaspar and Rodent

What is this obsession Richmond fans have with securing Daniel Harris? For the last two years the ferals on the Punt Road End website have been bleating about this. It's getting rather boring.

Let me make this clear Tigers... Under no circumstances will North Melbourne consider trading Daniel Harris ANYWHERE! The club loves him; The coach loves him; The fans love him; He loves the club.

For chrissake, just get over it!

Trade day latest
10:25:01 AM Fri 7 October, 2005
Exclusive to afl.com.au
The final day of the AFL's annual trade week is underway, with officials from several clubs converging on Optus Oval ahead of the 2pm deadline for all trades to be completed.

Officials from Essendon, Richmond, West Coast, Sydney, the Brisbane Lions, Richmond and Collingwood are already on site, although conspicuously absent are the Kangaroos and Hawthorn, whose talks over Hawk full-back Jonathan Hay are considered critical to get several other trades moving.

Traditionally, the remainder of the deals get done after 12 noon, with a real flurry of activity after 1.30pm.

afl.com.au will have FREE live audio from Optus Oval from 1pm. Recently-retired Hawk star Nick Holland will join Damien Mahoney, as the day takes place.

Dons, Tigers, eagles, swans, pies and the lions??? Whose working out a trade with who?

Yes, I for one will be horribly dissapointed if we miss out on a guy in his mid-20's whose claim to fame is a coupla good wizard cup games. Wink away tiger, but time can run out as quick as it likes...I'll have an 18 year old midfielder in the draft thanks.

Possibly, providing Brisbane can fit him under their shrinking cap - 300k is a fair bit of money - more than you would expect, say Selwood to be on.

Nevertheless, don't think he'd make it to pick 9, one way or another.

That is what I am guessing their new discussions with Motlop entail.

I think Brisbane will talk to him if he gets PSD but Brisbane wouldn't convince someone to go into the PSD from where they finished up.

Still a very good chance one of the bottom four will try and take him.

I still feel a deal will more than likely be done.
