With cupido gone the 13 jumper is available. Lovett has to be favourite, or maybe Cole, what do you think??

Playing in the red and black should be enough for Cole, and i kinda like how Lovett, LM and Rioli have numbers 41 to 43 sewn up.
Maybe our first draft pick.
Nobody. If Lovett can do what Cupido couldn't and have two big years in a row, then he really deserves it. But I wouldn't be surprised if he got it this year.

Put the 13 in mothballs until Lovett earns it in 2007, by backing up 2005.

No, not really.
I wasn't disagreeing with you, I was sort of just making a point.
At the end of the day, it's just a number, okay, sure it has some history behind it, but because the club gave it to Cupido, I think that the history behind it has maybe just depleted in stature and that's why I think they'll give it to Cole.
Why does 13 have to go to an aboriginal? Its only a number.

It doesnt have to - and its only ever been worn by one Aborigine (Long). You may not be aware but Cupido is of South African origin.

Because Michael Long was one of the heroes of this club, and very active in the Aboriginal community.
Personally, I like the cousins at 41-42 too much to give either 13, and I'd rather let those guys make their own legends.
Let's let it wait for a year.

Sometimes a jumper suits the player. Alessio getting 27 or Dyson getting 2. I think that Michael Long would want Lovett to have 13 and I know that Lovett who is humbled at getting awards like the ANZAC Day medal and best first yr player will appreciate getting 13 and will work harder then Cupido did.

Alessio getting 27 was a disgrace. As for 13 I`d let it rest for a year, but it probably won`t. Lovett will get it.

but we can't wait around for another timmy every time 32 is up for grabs, if we did that with every number of a champion, the players would have to wear 60-99
Cole wore #13 for Collingwood and his hero is Longy so it would be a dream for him. It is just a number but I like the whole tradition of the numbers.

I agree. Lovett won't want to give up his number 41, just as Rio wouldn't give up the number 43 when given the option a couple of years back.
Nothing wrong with Richie Cole getting it. He will end up being a very good player IMO.
Richie Cole. loves Longy and i agree with lovett/Lovett-Murray at 41 and 42 is good. They will make there own names.

im pretty good mates with tristan cartledge and he told me he wants the number but the club are waiting to see whether they get travis varcoe or not to give it to him, and i dont know whether ess willl get varcos but if he doesnt its tristans

Cartledge for 13 is a big call. I'm pretty sure he wore it all through his junior career though.

I rang up the maths department at the university. The lass on the switchboard reckons 13 is a number.
