Looks like Norm Dare threw the towel in to go run a Post Office on Gold Coast. Roger Merrett runs the Ashmore City branch! Must be a thing for old footballers! Anyway, glad to see him leave Southport. He's the most arrogant, loudest, crulest SOB I've ever seen or heard. I bet a lot of the Southport Reserves team are glad he's gone! (Seniors too)

Successful but.

Is it "good coaches make good players" or "good players make good coaches" or in Southport's case just find a player from interstate to fill a gap?

Yes, I know but at what risk? He's crucified many up & coming kids to prove a point. I'm talking about 16 - 17 year olds who were peaking, playing their natural game but when they were called up to play seniors, the insults and abuse were deplorable. Just ask their Ruckman Brent Renouf!! I hope his game improves now that Dare is gone. I know that they have to be battle hardened but to degrade them in front of their mates and fans, is just not on. It's a catch 22 I guess but his player management skills are below average.

I know this an old bulliten thing but with Norm gone a hell of alot of players who would never get a chance at seniors and that stuff have had a go at seniors in 06 and most of them stayed in the senior team for a while. Norm was an abuse guy and he did it to the players infront of all their other mates. ********ER if u ask me

I think you would find that norm dare was a guy who thought he could coach but in reality can't.

The guy is an absolute tool. He simply can't coach like that and pretend to be on a high when he is forever having a go at his players. Hey Roger Merrett > Norm Dare any day mate.

A lot of players got a run in the seniors in 06 because of their horror run with injuries, not just because Dare was gone.
