Top work Carlton 95.
I cant go past Carlton side of 95.
But there 1972 side was also awesome.
They had Jezza firingand won 18 games out of 22 for the year.
An awesome display.

I cant go past there 95 side, 20 - 2.
Despite there loses to St.Kilda and Sydney they were simply awesome!

They flogged the bullies by 98 pts in round 3, and the round 18 clash was a good build up, because they doggies were on a 5 game win streak, and hadnt lost for 6 weeks (drew is round 12) and from round 6 - 11, the dogs lost 6 in a row. So the build up was awesome, Carlton went into the game favourites of course at $1.50 - $2.40 Bulldogs.

and the Bullies were up 3.2.20 - 0.0.0 in the 1st quater, onlony to be losing 4.2.26 - 3.2.20 at quater time.
Freom then Carlton never looked back rolling onto a 26 point victory.

This was also the last game Ted Whitten saw of his beloved Bulldogs, what a sad way to end his career!

Carlton's best premiership side was 1908.

They went 19-1 with a percentage of 169.

Yea Dan I agree.
There were the 3 consecutive premierships Carlton won which were from 1906 - 1908. They were a strong force but its very hard for people to remember :D

Yes, my memories of 1908 are a little hazy, boxy.

1908 would have to go close. 3 in a row under the comps first professional coach. Not forgetting that before this era the Blues were above only St Kilda on the ladder on a few occasions.

The best I have seen would have to be 1979 with the mosquito fleet and Jezza in full flight. Let's not forget that they lost only 3 matches to North by about 4 points, Geelong by 6 and Collingwood by 19 and were the first of 3 flags in 4 seasons. The 1995 side were awesome in full flight but those thrashings at the hands of St Kilda and Sydney are a bit of an eyesore on the scoresheet.

You people are dreamin, 1970 is a pivotal moment in the history of the league let alone Carlton, it is no doubt our greatest hour as a team & club.

Starchild, while I agree that a comeback of such monumental proportions in a Grand Final is the stuff of fairytale and has produced many heroes and inspirational anecdotes like Barassi's "handball handball handball" speech and Teddy Hopkins, that doesn't necessarily show the brilliance of the side.

Any team to win 3 in a row as the 1908 side had done is a great effort considering the Blues weren't much of a side before that. 1979 came after Jezza had taken the reigns in less than perfect circumstances the year before and provided the nucleus of the side that won back to back in 1981-2 and made the finals for a decade.

1995 was a dream season with a perfect game to end it all. The Blues were not necessarily the best side in the comp in 1970 which is why it was such a triumph to win it. If the Blues had have won the 1999 GF against North, would we be proclaiming them the greatest Blues premiership side?

Also 1970 came in the midst flags in 1968 and 1972 so wasn't the catalyst for success. I do believe thought many of the greatest players in our history came from that period of time.

Not dreamin' mate, just looking at the bigger picture.

Cheers
