Just want to ask you Melbourne guys about the progress of Newton and Dunn.

Will they play for THe Demons in the near future or languish at Sandy for next year or two.

I'm not professing to know heaps, or to be one of those guys that go to training (not that I'm not tragic, I just live to far from Sandy), but I obviously keep my eye on Melbourne news. I've heard very little about either, and from that I deduce that they will be learning the craft at Sandy for a while yet. Newton is pretty young, I think, so one wouldn't expect too much. Maybe one or two games in the next year and a bit if they are lucky?

I think Bate would be the most likely young guy to crack a game soon.

But I could be completely wrong.

Newton was a VFL reserves player all year I think and Dunn was 50/50 reserves and seniors. Admittedly both didn't turn 18 until this year so we got them very young and they are key position players. Dunn kicked 9 goals in a reserves game, against Frankston or Springvale I can't remember.

Both probably forwards but I did see them get time in defence this year as well.

Don't seriously expect anything from them for the next few years. Doubt either will play seniors but you never know...

Bate will debut before both of them, had a much better first year.

Was a regular Sandy Seniors player.

good point... bate is good, but id love to see dunn play a seniors match, just cuz he went to my school :) narr also cuz i think he can step up and play quite well in the senior side

I imagine Dunn will play at some stage otherwise our recruters should shoot themselves. As for Newton, I guess we will wait and see.
