Has he actually put pen to paper yet?

Not looking for snide remarks ... simple question

He signed for 3 years in late September.

Although it's a mere formality, I heard yesterday that he hasn't officially signed.

I know there was the big headline in the Herald Sun "Cats over Cash", but they had just agreed to terms, not officially signed the deal.

But don't hold me to it.

We all know here that he has agreed to re-sign, as chapmanmagic said putting pen to paper is a mere formality, but I would think that he has done that already...

He did agree to re-sign but that was in 2003 ;)

I'd be very very suprised if he didn't put pen to paper with you guys tho ...

As much as Carlton fans would like to salivate, Bartel will be playing with Geelong next year, however.....

I admit i don't understand the finer points of contract negotiation, but why would you agree to terms yet not actually put pen to paper, seems rather odd to me.

Luke Power came out mid-year and said the same thing ... then came out just before the trade period with news that he may want to come back to Melbourne after all. He ended up re-signing but, until a contract is signed, sealed and delivered, there is no such thing as a "mere formality"

Thanks for the sermon, but we know Jimmy wouldn't go back on his word.

I know your club is desperate to secure anyone who even knows what a football is but you're wasting your time if you're considering Bartel, he's committed to Geelong.

You may be able to convince James Rahilly to come out of retirement though.

and carry-on the Pagan tradition of recycling other club's has-been players...

Seems like something is up with him not signing yet. The Cats would be ********ed big time, and rightfully, if he left for nothing instead of making his intentions clear before trade week.

Hope he does nominate for the PSD for our clubs sake but still doubt he would do it.

Why would any half decent player want to go in the PSD and get picked up by Carlton ?

They'll never play in a final while there. They'll be lucky if they even play in 10 winning games over 5 years [pre-season games included].

In the worst period we have endured in the modern era, we still have won 21 H&A games plus preseason matches in 4 seasons, add them up and the 5th season and you get over 40 wins. Yet you expect us to believe, we will average 2 wins per year including preseason games over the next 5 years. Why do we people have to go over the top? So easy to call them on it. We will be calling this in within 2 seasons IMO.

Nick Stevens did. ;)

But the real question is why hasn't Bartel signed? May he be after more $$ or was this was his intention all along? Just strange that its dragged on for so long and he still hasn't signed when its now just either the Cats or the Blues and possibly the Pies.

A number of reasons.

In fact, we could offer him a couple of hundred thousand more reasons than Geelong per year.

He'll stay at Geelong, but I'd be a bit annoyed with his reluctance to put pen to paper if I was a handbagger.

Nick Stevens must really have enjoyed counting all his money while all his ex-teammates were celebrating the Premiership win and while they played finals again this year.

and how the f**k do you know he hasn't actually put pen to paper ?

You Carlscum turds are obsessed.I wouldn't be suprised if you picked up Woewoeful in the PSD.Some of Pagans decisions since moving to Carlton [the most baffling decision was the move there] have been weird,so Woewoeful is a strong chance to end up at Optarse Oval.

At least he isn't living the third world now. :D

That's the most ridiculous comment in your post if you ignore your wit and use of the English language.

None of Denis's recruiting decisions given the trading and draft restrictions, are any worse than the failed White and Haynes trades under Thompson.

hahahaha how good did Lawrence Angwin go, great recruiting Denis. No wonder half your decent players (Lappin, Campo) want to leave.

We lacked Gorillas and we still lack talls.
David Clarke
Played better than Loats and was poorer for Geelong.
Daniel Harford
We had to take him to help balance the Hawkscap and get Brett Johnson
Hows Callum Chambers going?
Better than Brett Smith who was the player West Coast drafted with the pick.

Lappin's re-signed and Camporeale is the equivalent of Leigh Colbert so the ********er's welcome to go.

I could point out what past and present Geelong players have done compared to Angwin but this is your board.
