Bulldogs will continue their rise up the ladder, their young talent will continue to improve although West won't be as good as this year IMO and with darcy back will be an formidable opposition to any team in the league next year.
Port will start their slide down the ladder next year and will either just hang around the fringe mark for the eight or plummet down near the bottom. Their players are aging and they are past their premiship glory but still could demolish a couple of sides next year, but be prepared for some shocking performances.

Yeah, by finishing dead last.
:D
we dont want that to happen they could get bryce gibbs. That would be somewhat ironical.
And for what its worth i think the bulldogs are slightly overrated, the melbourne ppl esp seemed to get in a spin about their running game last yr when most likely their best in 3-4 yrs even more away when cooney and co start hitting their prime. Port hopefully will finish ninth although they made some good delisting decisions this yr and youth always wins i wouldnt be surprised if they made the 8.

I think both will be bottom half of the 8. Port will not bottom out as some seem to suggest, they have to many guns to do that at this stage

I have been saying the same thing for the past three seasons, but he continues to prove me wrong. I wouldn't be game enough to open my mouth too soon again. The guy is a freak and will possibly win another B&F next year.
It seems like no one likes Port, Porthos. Me included. Port won't make the eight next year and the Bulldogs will.

Port to finish Top 6, Doggies to just sneak into the 8.

Hopefully Port. Cant stand the amount of bandwagoners jumping on the bulldogs all of a sudden.

Footscray are a fine looking young side coached by a stable sensible fella, but they've done nothing. Port are a weary old mob with a vert smart irritating coach who won a flag in 04 with as little talent as they have now.
It isn't silly to say the Dogs will finish higher but I'd reckon port are a better chance. Even medium term (up to 5 years say) its quite possible port will outperform the Dogs. Sheesh they'll probably outperform the Pies too, dammit.

I know this was probably a tongue in cheek comment on your behalf, but you DO realise that the 2001-2004 era Port side had as much talent as any other side in a long long time...don't you? Disapointing finals performances aside, finishing top 3 years in a row and winning 68 out of 88 Home and Away games (01-04) is a mighty achievement.

That is a very scary thought for the other 15 clubs, considering the form of the Bulldogs during the last 6 weeks of 2005.
FWIW the Bulldogs are the antithesis of overrated. The vast majority of AFL Nation don't rate them at all.
i think we will surprise a few people
yeah with all those early draft picks you secured :thumbsu:
I think the Bulldogs will finish higher.
with any luck they'll get their arse kicked in and go back to the sanfl where the grubby little b astards belong....

No, we (crows) seemed to handle the bullies without any trouble late in the season.

near the end of the season we heard quite the opposite.
Instead of being a supporter you need to be realistic in that putting together some good form at the end of the season when the pressure is off means nothing. 2-3 yrs before you're top 4 imo. By then grant and co will be gone too.

I wasn't exactly being tongue-in-cheek, or that accurate: obviously Port have aged and lost good players since 2004. However I think they won without absolute buckets of class, mainly because they had excellent teamwork and a great team spirit, and a top notch coach.
They still have these things, and Footscray still haven't done anything yet.
In a way the anti-Port trend in this thread is just setting the Dogs up for a fall. I reckon if Footscray do finish higher than Port it'll be because they work damn hard, and it'll be to their credit that they do so, not because they deserved it or it was inevitable.
Port will take some beating, even a depleted Port.

Cyclops, common sense from a pies supporter, I dont believe it BUT the penny just dropped, its the port magpies whom you support. Well said;)
Dogs to make the eight, Port to miss out. I think some of the new rule interpretations will really help a running team like the Bulldogs. They have one of the best midfields going round whereas Port's midfield is suspect. Hope I'm wrong though. ;)
My only concern about the Bulldogs is a lack of key position players - Harrison, Rawlings, Bandy all gone and seemingly no replacements.
