Leigh has been helping us on the coaching side of things and would be great if he played and apparently according to his wife, he is getting itchy feet, we tried hard to get Paul but he went to Blighty and by all reports Leigh is a better player than Paul. Leigh is a bit shorter but still would be around 6'5" I suppose and has a bit more grunt than Paul.

Deni going OK atm but very very young and going through a rebuilding stage and we are not expecting big things for a couple of years yet but the excitment is building. Should go well against Toni today.
IS this the same leigh that played at wakool in the golden rivers league a few years back??.

Yep thats the one.

Great win by Rams against Toni, 39pts down at half time and to win by 11pts was terrific for the young kids. Great game too and very tough hard physical stuff and played in great spirit by both teams, it was a ripper to watch.

Yes was a good game except for the result:( , was very physical especially us in the 1st half but we didnt sustain that pressure for the last half and Deni not only sustained it but lifted. Good win for Deni showed a lot of character, we showed we can play good footy but let ourselves down by dropping our intensity levels in the last half and not responding when challenged in the 3rd 1/4. Must realise only 4 1/4's of footy is the only thing that is going to allow us to win games this year.

As great the game was at Tongala on Satdy, I did notice two things that stood out. One was the scoreboard, maybe my eyes are the problem but I did have a problem reading the scoreboard, like I said maybe just me and the second thing was also the dark blue numbers on Toni's jumpers, I also had trouble with them, like I said maybe it was just me but does has anyone else have those problems at Toni?
I like to record goals next to the names in the record but I didnt do it to well because I had difficulty reading the numbers and the scoreboard. Great day, Great game, well done Toni:thumbsu: .

homer i think you could be right about the score board. it depends on where your sitting and the sun i think but yes it can be hard to see the score board from the crowd, but there is no problem when your are playing! im not sure about the jumper problem homer its a dark number on a light jumper. by the way homer how many goals did u have down for tonnys number 13? i think he was sold a few short

B Robson, Flight, Morris, D Murphy, B Haines, B Barnes all very very young but showing great promise for the future, I think I recall Robbo being selected to train with the Murray Bushranges, but knocked it back due to the travelling and the mate thing back at home here. Best thing about these guys is that they have stepped up and really having a crack which is all you can ask of them and the Club is very happy with them.

Dan "Meat Axe" Moloney. Plays in United 2nds. Absolute animal on and off the field. Smashed he's own AC joint laying a bump at training the other day. Wouldn't want to play on him, heard his favourite move is the squrrel grip.

To be a hardman or a thug are two different things. A hardman would be a player who is hard at the ball for a whole game and who puts his head down at hits the packs. On the other hand, a thug would be a player who targets younger, more vulnerable players on the field and wants to fight more than he wants to play football.

So I'm guessing you want people to name players who they believe are thugs and love the biff?

Oh okay that's alright then! ;)

Has anyone got some tips for Round 7?

Mine are:

Moama v Barooga
Cobram v Echuca United
Congupna v Numurkah
Tongala v Rumbalara

Barooga will be big winners over an injury depleated Moama, Echuca United over an improved Cobram, Congupna in a close one at home against Numurkah and Rumbalara in another ripper game against.
Good Luck everyone!

Yeah that young bloke was pulling SOFT free kicks out of his @#%, and some were down right pathetic but I think the game was lost i the first quarter, when we started half asleep. Sure we could have won, or even got closer then we did, but if rained like it did in the reserves, there probably would'nt have been another goal scoredfor the rest of the game, or any chance of a fight back. We'd probaly be saying it was still the umpire when the truth is we need to learn to win the dog fight's no matter wheather things are going our way or not. Hats off to HANKS boys, any wins a good win, but i can't wait till next time round, i've got a feeling things will be different.

How'd the rest of the round go????"

We were actually saying the same thing, was of a poor standard but up to 3/4 time we felt we were getting the rough end of the stick, a couple went our way in the last which may stick in your mind but definately a few the other way especially in the 2nd and 3rd 1/4's. Watched the game again yesterday and was actually thinking about putting some of the decisions and non-decisions on DVD to see what the umpires advisor thinks.
Definately not blatantly biased though morgs01, was very frustrating out there as you didnt know which way the frees were going but certainly didnt favour us over the whole game. Hard conditions to umpire in though I will admit.
Cheers.

The reason why Barooga have 2 byes in 2 weeks is because they were suppose to have played Cobram this weekend, but the MFL moved that game from this weekend 2 round 1 (Easter Weekend) probably a wise choice because from all reports there was huge croud at the game which was played on Good Friday.
Maybe the Murray Football league should have a general bye, like GVFL and OMFL, probably be smart, then the players that do play interleague dont have to back up and play the next day??
And if they play more home games early on in the year, obviously they would be playing more away games later in the year, they still play 9 home games and 9 away games the same as all other teams.

Yeah huge stuff up IMO playing sunday after interleague, if the league wants this to be taken seriously then they aren't sending the right message themselves. Every side has 3 byes during the year, it is beyond me why every side doesnt just have the 2 byes and everyone has the interleague weekend off. Best chance was this year to get the strongest side on the park with the full scale game, believe next year goes back to the round robin which even if the weekend is off for all sides, a lot of players aren't interested in that concept.

It will always be hard for the league to get there strongest side on the park even if there was a bye as most of the highly paid players wont want to risk getting injured. I think that having a complete bye this weekend probably would of got more players interested though and the league should of made all clubs play over the easter weekend. I think playing over easter benefits all the clubs and if the league continues to get clubs playing there rivials eg: Echuca United v Moama it will continue to be a success.

What view do you Hank have as a coach on your top players playing on saturday and then having to back up and play on sunday?

It didnt come into it when asked my input for selecting players, but it will be a concern come Satdy night and Sunday to see if they are right to play and Sunday at half time, especially when there could be two or three in the U/18 game also. You can see that it has come into it with some sides, Numurkah having no one and they are playing Nathalia, so they obviously thought if we have a full fresh side that will be our best chance.

I can't understand why the MFL has done it. They did it around 10 years ago, on the long weekend. Clubs played on the Monday, even then players couldn't get through the game, very heavy and sore in the legs by half time. It make it extremely difficult to pick teams for the weekend, and then even trying to finalise them on Sunday. Should have simply had a general bye, maybe all clubs should get back to the MFL on his matter. I'm sure if we had a general bye, a lot more players would put their hand up to represent the league, and not embarass them with a half strength side.
The results of this weekend could effect a clubs finals chances in the long run, simply because of player availabilty.:(

would like to think that the league was taking the inter-league seriously enough to give a general bye. The Murray league in my opinion over the years has under performed (since beating the GV). I feel that this year was their best chance to have a real strong showing. Im not saying all these players would have made themselves available but a mid field with M Byers, M Stevens. L Marshall, A Gemmill, N Gemmill, L Wellington, R Butler, D Barnes. Forwards of Parker, James, M Brown and Vallender. Backs with M Roberts and Guthrie throw Cowman in the ruck and you have still got players the calibre of Madigan, Snelson, McCabe, Bartlett, Reyne, Rowbottom, Campbell and probably a few that I have missed as haven't had alot to do with the league for a while so some of my selections may be made leaning a little to reputation rather than form. Will also be some young blokes over looked for this reason. How many of thes blokes will play on Saturday. Think if it had of benn a general bye would have had a better percentage of these guys playing.

Going by the results in the paper i think he has been in the best every week except for once when congupna played against us at ehuca untied. He didn't get a kick until the last quarter pretty much that day after moving from half back onto the ball. I think by the murray league website he is winning the barooga sports club football award.

Here is a list of the blokes (or birds) representing your forum in the Bigfooty Rregional Leagues Fantasy Football League (BRLFFFL) (http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=322536)
The four teams competing are the the Central Sharks (http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=320213&page=6), Donkey Floggers (http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=320211&page=8), the North-Eastern Wolves (http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=320215&page=6) and the Western Wallabies (http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=320214&page=13).

These folks are representing you lot at the liest level, and you all should be proud of their efforts. Many big leagues (Ballarat, West Gippsland La Trobe, Eastern FL, THE WHOLE OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA!) aren't represented at all, so these guys are making a hefty imprint on the virtual footballing community!! Maybe a quick visit to their match threads to talk 'em up and can their opponents wouldn't be out of order?

(If you are on this list, and there is a x in front of your name, this means you are yet to even read the private message I sent about picking a guernsey number. It means you probably aren't aware of the season in progress, and your club needs you!)

Heard last night at training that if a player that has been nominated rules himself out of inter league for Saturday he can not play for his club on Sunday. Surely a player would know how his body is going and weather or not he can get through 2 games on the weekend. Thats what makes this a joke that players have to sacrafice one or the other and when you do that you can not put your whole self into playing rep footy Knowing that you are a valuable member of you clubs side the next day.

hey boys, i've been reading this thread for a while, finally decided to join. Backs Sore, Higgins is playing at toc this year, he was at the world cup for the first few games so he shouldn't be far away from playing if he already hasn't.

Mulwala v Tongala
Rumbalara v Deniliquin
Tocumwal v Moama
Numurkah v Nathalia
Finley v Congupna

Mulwala comfortably over Tongala, Rumbalara will be too experienced for Deniliquin and Tocumwal should have a solid win over an injury plagued Moama. It will be interesting to see how young Matt Davies goes against his old club Numurkah, when lining up for Nathalia this Sunday. I dare say he will be under the spotlight by most of the Numurkah boys. Congupna have 5 senior players playing in the interleague game on Saturday against Central Murray FL, so at home, I think Finley will get up over the Road.

Have some confidence souts! Mulwala have L James, B James, J Sanderson, J Cowan and P Banch playing in the interleague game on saturday i think and with all these blokes being there better players perhaps they maybe a little sore from the game.

Mulwala too good for Tongala
Rumbalara to bounce back against Deni
Tocumwal easy over Moama
Numurkah in an upset against Nathalia
Finlay over Congupna

I think if Rumba Has a desent crack, they should beat Deni, even after playing on saturday.
I hope nathalia has a laps in concentration, so Numurkah can capatilise.
And the other 3 are straight forward.

Good luck to the Interleague squad, and everyone else playing this weekend

We will be going into the game trying to win. Just going on form Trouser Snake, but we will be trying our best to cause a boilover. They have a few playing Saturday, we also have 3 fronting up, Roberts in the seniors and SOUTS and McGill in the U/18's, so would say that both sides will be in a similar boat with that Roaring Tiger. By the way did u get a birth?

Yeah still just one of the boys, playing good footy and yes thought he did well on Nick Braybon against you blokes. Body probably let himself down a bit last year, but not working hard enough at training may have had a bit to do with that, this year has been doing the right things and has been able to lead by example more which has allowed him to fulfill his role as captain much better this year.

Yeh we gunna need our weeties for Rumba, we got quite a few out again but will do our very best:thumbsu: .

How are they going about it with playing in Melb on Satdy and then having to front on Sundy:eek: ? Same team both days or not, imagine you would want a good line up in Melb to put on a bit of a show.
Good luck to Rumba, great weekend of footy for them;) .

Thanks mate,
We know it's gonna be a big ask, but we've tried to pick a mix (seniors, thirds and seconds) of players for the melb game to make it easier on the core senior playing group. But I've got a feeling it's still going to be a bruising affair. Hopefully the boys can get up in melb, without killing them selves. Having said that, we're not sending our strongest list down either because we still want to push for the 4 points.

Very impressed with Rumbalara yesterday, obviously a bit undermanned but it wasnt a bad game to watch and played in very good spirit, Rumba got some great players down there with Guthrie and the likes. I thought #25 was terrific with the kids over the fence, when a point was scored he did most of the kicking in and when the ball was retrieved by the kids he said thanks very much to them and even encourged them with thier kicking abilities when he recieved the ball back, nice bloke:thumbsu: .

Mully v Rams this week, Mully should get home comfortably but hopefully we can just be competitive and put on some sort of a show for our supporters in what will be only our 3rd home game in 9 rds.

Banch is having a great start to the year and would be a contender for their b&f at this stage. Thomson has been fairly quiet to this point.

What is it that cobram needs to turn their season around? He is a good young kid but i can't seen him having much of an impact in terms of taking a club from down the bottom of the ladder to finals contender.

Dale is going well at this stage of the year. He was named the club's skipper at the start of the season and has not put a foot wrong since. He is a fantastic leader both on and off the field. He has suffered from a nagging hamstring injury in the past few weeks but is training very strongly at the moment and will be back in the mix this week.
He was approached by league officials a week prior to the interleague match against Central Murray, but turned down the offer to allow his hamstring to heal.

Hope this helps mate.

Number 3 was Harley Ryan, and number 5 was Shaun Ryan. They are both very classy players and were great contributors for us in the games they played. Those two, along with Daniel Moore and Jarrod King returned to North Heidelburg and from all reports, are playing some very good football down there.
